Also this week, a very sad note. A dear friend and former boss, Gwen Lidstrom Middleton, passed away. Gwen brought me into no less than three workplaces over the course of my career, encouraging me into jobs that were creative and challenging. I will miss her steadfast support and hearty laugh.
What am amazing week - so many big things happening. Great start to an exciting new job, and a happy homecoming reunion for my childhood friend and classmate, Mark. Great to see Roberta, too, and Judy, Wendy, and so many friends from TRHS.
Last day of work at my old job, what an honor to work with our Chamber members and this board of directors. New position starts full-time tomorrow - an exciting new challenge!
Happy Birthday, Marines!
Happy Birthday to the USMC - my thanks to all who serve, especially to those whom we did not always treat with the proper respect. I heart my Viet Nam Marine!
Steve and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary today - such a good man :).

Mmm shrimp scampi with orzo pasta and roasted tomatoes - yummy supper!
Trying to back the pickup truck up the driveway just a wee bit... backed into my car. Fortch, it was only the ball hitch on the truck that bent my license plate. I'm so COOL!!
Today is the day our Congress decides whether to take over one-sixth of our economy with a trillion-dollar government-run program that still leaves millions uninsured & fines people who choose NOT to purchase health insurance, all while insisting that the bill itself is too complicated for Americans to understand and should not need to be read...
Ever notice that the week goes: Monday (M)... Tuesday (T)... and then the rest of it is WTF?? :)
Janet is determined to be productive around the house today. Here's my list - ask me later how much I got done :) 1. Help hubby attach the top to the basement bar. 2. Four loads of laundry. 3. Attach homemade skirting to craft table. 4. Sew and hang curtains for office. 5. Tame piles of miscellany in office.
@old_buzzard <heehee> Problem solved, I hope! :) Thanks OB!
WOOHOO!! I'm very happy to report that I have accepted a new job as Account Executive for Essman Associates, a full-service marketing, advertising and communications firm here in Des Moines. I will be spending a couple of weeks wrapping things up at the Chamber, and am also pleased to be able to remain active in Chamber events as my new employer...
Pleased to report that I have accepted a new full-time position as Account Executive with Essman Associates here in Des Moines! Go ME!!
Thanks to my honey, I now have a dimmer switch on the light in the room where I get ready for work... and a towel rack attached to the kitchen island table! *smooch*.
Janet has returned from grocery shopping. I am unsure exactly what I got for my $160 - it doesn't seem like much.
Just received word that I have been named "Customer of the Year." Shouldn't there be an induction ceremony or something? Or at least free shipping on my next order??
Wow, it's been a VERY busy week!
@rippinkitten Hey there, missed a few days here. but thanks for the link to my blog's eyewear article!

To the obnoxious woman sitting behind me at the North High football game tonight - SHUT UP! Here are the clues you desperately needed: 1. It's just a game. 2. They're kids. 3. They're working their butts off. Now, if you still find it necessary to mock them and then root for the opponent, please go sit on the other side of the field.

Wonderful event tonight at Park Fair Mall, showcasing the redeveloped Mall and benefitting the East DM Chamber's scholarship fund. Special thanks to Chris Murray and Denny Elwell Company for hosting a great networking reception and for opening up (and dressing up!) their space for us! Amy Hinners rocks!!
