Re: What can I do to improve my old road bike? -
May 21, 2012
"Hi David. I just rescued your comment from the spam filters, sorry about that. thanks for the feedback, very helpful. Great points about upgrades being worth more than the bike itself. Now that it's been three weeks since I asked this question, and haven't done anything yet, I do wonder what I could do to make my current bike more efficient. For example, today, it could have been tired legs, or the wind, or my imagination, but I felt like my bike was working against me. Like maybe there was just a little bit of friction somewhere that was amounting to the equivalent of a few tenths of percent in incline. Do my wheels roll as freely as they should or could? Would a cleaner chain and cassette make a difference? (there's lots of time to ponder these things on the road.) I'll be heading to the local bike shop tomorrow for probably a new seat, maybe pick up a maint. stand and some cleaning supplies." -
