"Wow! This is a tough question. They were all such great news stories and they still have impact now in 2012. My initial inclination is to choose the Arab Spring or the Global Economy both have unleashed much global instability and insecurity. But if I must choose one, it would be the Arab Spring. Witnessing the dominance of these modern day totalitarian regimes is downright frightening. Also, the arrogance and complete disregard for human life by these dictators paired with the democratic nations doing nothing and falling back into a policy of appeasement will likely make the Arab Spring the top news story of 2012 as well."
