"Congrats Jason, looking forward to supporting this sucker and getting you back to St. Louis. Hopefully to a Cardinal game too, since you're stuck supporting those Pirates... ;)"

"I was a big fan of the previous version and look forward to seeing what you guys have come up with. The interaction of giving a gift is such a natural extension of the social experience... can't wait to see the results."

"Thanks so much for the post Caren. We've been chewing on so much data since the inception of STLtweets.com that we figured it was time for us to share the wealth. Creating the State of Twitter STL report allowed us to present that data in ways we thought were interesting, so we hope you enjoyed it. STL Index on the other hand is more about the people themselves. While we recognize the difficulty of automating something as nuanced as contextual influence, we feel this is a good place to start. Hopefully we can move that discussion further just a bit. -Brad (@JavaSTL)"

"Thanks for the write up Sarah, we're really excited about the event. Influence is such a fickle thing, we're hoping that by putting some framework and context around it we can move the conversation forward a few steps. If we accomplish nothing more than that we'll consider the event a success. -Brad (@JavaSTL)"

"Social Influence is a fleeting thing and one we've been talking a lot about in my circles. None of us have answers yet, but questions are being uncovered that will helps us as measurement and application matures. I'd love your input on any of these Brian: How does social influence change your personal and professional life? Does contextual influence carry more weight than overall influence? If systems like Klout apply game theory to personal ego and pride... will the masses play if the rules aren't defined? This is fascinating stuff from a sociology perspective."

"The human curation part is a big key for me. As smart as your programming is... no algorithm will replace the influence of a good editor in choosing stories that balance out appeal to the intended audience. Do I like getting mentioned? Sure... it's extra eyeballs and we all love attention. The problem is if those eyeballs aren't part of any conversion they're no better than other qualitative social media metrics. I only care if I can pinpoint a source and track that to a conversion... then I know I'm getting a return and it's something I can replicate for my customers. If not it's wishful thinking."

TV 2.0... it's coming. How will this change the way advertisers look at things like commercials and TV advertising? In 5 years how will businesses promote their wares to you in your family room? No matter how mobile we get the family room is an important part of our social structure.
