"I read an article pointing out that Frisian was so closely related to the traditional yorkshire dialect (a county in Northern England) that the speakers of those two dialects could understand each other more easily than they could be understood by fellow nationals who didn't speak the language. I have to say that I could easily understand the phonetic examples of Frysk given in the article, I grew up with the yorkshire dialect, so I tend to give some credit to the article."
