"Good NY style pizza in the Dam Neck area. Toppings are fresh. Only complaint is I ordered a salad once with my pizza and the lettuce was brown and slimey. Stick with the pizza & subs and you be…"
- Jay Martin
"Best wings in VB hands down. Orders are made fresh and wings are meaty. Service is spotty at times. It usually depends on who's working, but you'll deal with it if your a fan of good wings."
- Jay Martin
A lot is in a name. I want to only see people who use their real names so I know where they are coming from.
- Robert Scoble
wait, you don't know Igor Thetro II... son of *the* Igor Thetro ??
- Alan Cheslow
oh, come one Scoble, my name is Marcus Debonaventure -- what's in a name ?
- General Kafka
I have to agree with Kafka. Why is the name important? What he does and what he writes count more.
- Morton Fox
Morton: I don't like him and I don't like someone who calls himself a troll. Especially since I've found over and over again that the name fit. I want to subscribe and see smart people. Not anonymous jerks. If you go jerky on me I WILL block you.
- Robert Scoble
The fact is, this is Robert's Twitter and FF and he can ban people if they look at him cross-eyed if it bugs him. He doesn't really have to justify that.
- Dana Franks
from twhirl
Think it's more that he looks like a troll....
- Rich
If someone harasses me or makes nasty comments, etc. I *might* block them but I would only resort to this if that person went out of their way to be a royal jerk and purposefully make my life miserable, oppress me, slander my name, say terrible things about me, my friends, etc, etc. In that rare case, I would see that they were stalking me and trying to harm my online identity and experience = EPIC FAIL = BLOCK
- Susan Beebe
Susan: there are so many distribution channels for anonymous jerks that I don't feel that I need to put up with that here.
- Robert Scoble
Robert: So true! and I bet they exist in ALL channels available to them...nice. Being able to be selective via a BLOCK feature is therefore essential for folks who are in the limelight like you are!
- Susan Beebe
More important than a real name is consistent identity... if you're "beezlecruft" on every service and your blog, then you're a recognizable persona. This is a good thing. On the downside, you make people around you feel like an idiot by writing things like: "Here's the thing, beezlecruft..."
- Roger Benningfield
There's probably an interesting post in here somewhere on why it's necessary to announce who you're blocking. I do the same thing sometimes and always catch flack for it. Unfortunately, I've been up too many hours to properly defend myself intelligently as to why I do it, so we'll see if I'm interested in this topic tomorrow enough to post on it.
- Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
@Roger: For years, I posted anonymously on the 'Net as simply "rizzn." Up until about 2 or 3 years ago, I was the only Rizzn in Google. When I wanted to go a bit more mainstream, I wound up merging the nick with my real name, partly so that there wasn't an identity split, partly for the SEO value, and partly so that folks wouldn't have to feel silly and call me Rizzn.
- Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
one of the advantages of having the #24 most common male first name and the #16 most common last name. I can *roll with my real name...
- Jay Martin
"My name is Diego Montoya. You killed my father, not I must kill you." My favorite introduction. I like my name, Micah. Why not use it? Plus most people dont pronounce it right, so I know if you know me.
- Micah Baldwin
"My name is Inigo Montoya... you killed my father... prepare to die!"? Very good line :P
- Chinkerfly
from twhirl
isn't the issue one of transparency, if the handle says "troll" & their actions are trollish, they're a troll, block makes sense
- mike "glemak" dunn
Cains..That's awesome. That's like having the name McLovin. :)
- Hao Chen
from fftogo
er... isn't the whole point of all these SM tools the ability to create your own conversation and experience? To be honest, I blocked "the troll" a few days ago. His comments to me and others were making me uncomfortable. Done, and done. It's not personal, it;'s just the way I choose to shape my social media experience.
- Sue Murphy
I'm with Robert on this one. That guy was the reason why I was looking for a way to block someone's comments from my feed.
- Dewald Pretorius
oops, sorry, I have been using my handle for like ever. Anyways, I'm the ONLY person on the web who uses puckman as a handle ;)
- Gerard van Schip
as I've used my handle for years, I've kept at it; and as I may post things which might be negative about my current employer, I want to make it harder for the HR(non tech savvy) types to find it......add-on to that, my names are not common, google and find me alone + a bunch of dead people with my names
- clarke thomas
I only use a handle because I have quite a common name. I'm not tryin' to hide behind anything!
- Sue Murphy
@scottbourne, I agree - people need to use their real identity online, otherwise what's the point?
- Rich
I had to block igorthetroll too! He was calling me bad names and commenting on everything I said with weird, nasty comments. What a boring life to be "that guy."
- Alana Taylor
A good handle when backed by a real person with a consistent personality should be nothing to be ashamed of. Handles are easier to remember. It's part of the personal brand.
- Chinkerfly
from twhirl
Chinkerfly, it's not about being easier or just as good. It's a principled matter. If you don't want to back what you say and what you do with your identity, you aren't playing the same game as a lot of us are. Speaking for myself and others like me, we're interested in using social media as a supplement to our real-world business, personal, and social relationships, not as a replacement or an alternative.
- Mark Trapp
for the sake of scoble, i've changed my comment name to the name I go by.
- clarke thomas
Just want to point to the fact that nicknames are soooo web 1.0... :-)
- Orli Yakuel
@Orli Yakuel This is oh so true! ^^
- Dan H. Racek
Igor the Troll is just annoying. I'm sure he has good intentions and all, but I can only take so much.
- Ben Parr
I don't see the value behind the whole "real name" push - this happens to be my real name, but how do you know that? What's the real difference between a handle and a real-seeming name that might not be real?
- David Worrell
You're straw-manning the issue, David. It's not just about the name: it's about a verifiable identity. If you can't be tied to an identity offline, you might as well use a nickname as it has the same effect on how people perceive you.
- Mark Trapp
This is so unfair, it's like blocking Loic Le Meur for being too much of a meur.
- Andy Roberts
I am who I say I am. I'm not hard to find. I say what I mean. I don't need to hide. If some of the sites I use would allow me to change my original name (gmail/google, flickr among others) to my real name, I would. Be yourself, life's better that way.
- Robert Kenney
it's not desktop tool for me. It is webtool called diigo. It's integrated with browser both for taking notes on a web page(annotation) and retrieve them as bookmarks. Yes evernote has a nice OCR technology.
- pankaj
Adrienne: that's because you haven't seen what Evernote can do.
- Robert Scoble
Notepad. Viva la Old School! Yes. I'm serious.
- Art Lindsey III
Onenote most often, but Evernote is a good clip capture tool.
- Soulhuntre
from twhirl
Evernote - use it every day. Notebooks need to have sections or chapters, and the Mac version needs to add audio recording, but otherwise it's great.
- Dean Terry
best notetaking for me is my moleskine for on hand, and jott when behind the wheel.
- sean808080
Notepad++ largely, but increasingly using Google Notebook.
- Derrick Burns
Evernote. mostly use it to keep track of real estate listings. (used to use OneNote--haven't opened it in months!)
- Jasmin Smith
Franklin organizer. Paper is the best.
- Victor Ryden
Jott for voice notes, Evernote for pictures and text but iPhone produces very blurry and unusable business cards with Evernote so far, needs a focus-adjuster app to be effective.
- Sally Church
Google Notebook. Trying to find practical uses of Evernote. It still doesn't seem to have a collaborating notebooks feature.
- Chris Chua
Evernote, has more flexibilty then Google Notebook. There are a few fearures I would like to added but it does the trick for me.
- Paul
from twhirl
evernote all the way. rich internet app with clients for most major PC and mobile platforms, and sync to cloud is quick and reliable. text deco of images is a nice bonus. they do need to spend some time observing the list features of OneNote and the search search ux of Spotlight - even the best apps can always improve.
- Jon Price
Right now it's Gmail and IMAP but I am playing with Evernote. I do have concerns though about trusting my info with your cloud. You're doing all the right things. It's just that you're new and I need to get to know you. I trust Gmail.
- Steve Rubel
Vim! In second place comes Mousepad. Third place is "cat - > note.txt".
- Rishabh Mishra (p248)
Evernote is a great service/app, but I still find I can write faster in OneNote.
- Rafe Needleman
Rafe: I'd be convinced if you could get me OneNote on my iPhone.
- Robert Scoble
Evernote + Reqall is a killer combo on the iPhone/Web/Everywhere
- Nicholas Molnar
Google Notebook on computer, Jott when mobile.
- Ian May
I love Google Notebook, need to find a good mobile alternative.
- Rahaf Harfoush
Honestly, a moleskine notebook and a decent pen. A recent development for me, but it's working great. I get WAY too distracted taking notes on a computer where there are so many fun things I could be doing with my spare seconds! :-)
- Josh Bancroft
I have a voice recorder on my mp3 player and on my phone, but I still mainly use a moleskine and a box of mechanical pencils. Old school, that's me.
- Steven Perez
While on foot, it's either my Nokia N95 8GB or my Moleskine, but with computer access it's either Evernote or Google Docs.
- Niklas Pivic
from Alert Thingy
Mail.app. Comes pre-installed. Easy to use. Notes are synchronised across all of my devices (Mac Mini, MacBook and iPhone). Notes are also available online via MobileMe. I don't need to wait for any app to launch since I always have Mail.app running anyway.
- Paul Grav
Evernote is great but needs a printer driver and better inking. OneNote is king on TabletPC's for inking. Evernote is king for syncing.
- Andrew Forde
from twhirl
Evernote has great features, but I still find the desktop client a bit hard to use at times. Would like it a lot more if there was a proper app for my Symbian phone.
- Sam

/agree with @Dukeswharf. An S60 client would be awesome. I've been trying to get the imap setup to work but it doesn't seem to want to cooperate.

I'm gonna start getting more sleep, so I can kill more spiders. [edit: ok, I read the Snopes thing; I guess I won't get more sleep]
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
where does this manic fear of spiders come from? i'm real curious. i don't think they're so bad and i can't comprehend the extreme feelings of repugnance/fear that some have for them. ever step on a tarantula? yeah, it really sucks. i did that walking around barefoot in the ecuadorian amazon once. true story
- Cee Bee
Folks at Sopes are a bunch of Nay-Sayers...
- Jay Martin
Agreed, Brian, except when they are in my house...no spider can crawl across my living room floor and live. Plain and simple.
- Josh Haley
Cee Bee: I'm afraid, specifically, of the giant "woodpile" (not poisonous) spiders that are all over WA, mostly because they look almost exactly like Hobo Spiders (also in WA and quite nasty). I do cultivate the little black jumping ones though - they kill Hobo spiders.

Ontario, I actually liked it when it first came out. I thought what happened to those two members was rather unfortunate. One of them ended up dying from a drug overdose years later.

Yup. I cut my Verizon FiOS back to the local stations only. It's $12.99 a month for digital/HD versions of the major and public network stations, and that's mostly for the kids. I do miss watching F1 on Speed, though. :(
- Ladybug Heather
Worst case you go to a website and keep track of the score. Best case (as noted in the article) the website has live video coverage (although this will be a battleground with TV/radio stations that pay billions for broadcast rights).

$13 for FIOS! That's awesome, I'd LOVE that in Australia. Still, things are only worth what you get from them.
- Will Higgins™
The normal package is MUCH more, and they don't advertise the local pkg; you have to know to ask for it. It is only about 8 channels, but since my annual outflows exceed my annual inflows, it had to be done.

It better be a tattoo of FriendFeed or I don't want to hear about it.
- Louis Gray
Not a fan at all, but hey, that's me.
- David Risley
I'm averse to pain, so no tattoos for me...plus i'd probably pick something that I think is cool now and would be sick of in 3 years...like a friendfeed tattoo :p
- Alex Scoble
I have five so far. The Partner-in-crime and I have matching ones (cue the "awwws"). I've also got the pawprints of my much loved cat who died in May. That way I have her with me always (awwww2)

+1 Kyle about the significance. When i first revealed them to my mom, she said i'll want to get rid of them some day. I responded as, i hope the day never comes that i don't want to constantly be reminded of the meaning behind these tats. Mine aren't religious, since i'm not, but have significant meaning to me even after having them for 15 or so years. That said, i completely love tats for purely style too. Just not for me. I want style and meaning.
- ·[▪_▪]·
Do not like. In fact, looking to invest in tattoo removal companies/products.
- AJ Kohn
thanks folks. i plan on getting my left arm done eventually though not sure when. embee -- i basically let my artist have free reign around the theme of flowers. that's all i asked of him -- "flowers." i think it allowed him to really let loose and show his skills

I've got a binary tattoo on my shoulder. Was about to get a half sleeve until my girlfriend nixed it. I'm kinda' glad she did.

Quick Review - Been using the GTD app "Things" on my iPhone for 24 hours now and it's great! Inteface is familiar especially if you used the desktop version. Only thing it lacks is the ability to set tags on the iPhone. The best feature is auto sync. Sync's every time you launch the application on your home network. Very cool! Well worth the money. It's earned a spot on my home screen.
