As a person who supports Mac laptops, I'm not willing to make that sacrifice. Boo Apple.

I've never removed the battery of my laptop, yet I agree with Erica on this matter.

1,000 recharges is way longer than any laptop I've ever owned... would get me 6 years out of it!

I have never removed my Apple battery.

I have removed and replaced many. Many many many.

Are all their machines at 7+hrs battery life? I'll sometimes carry a spare, charged battery instead of a charger just because it's lighter... but if I could get a full day from a charge, I'd skip the removable battery.

@Ken There high end 17" MacBook Pro has an 8+ hour battery.
- Gerard Lagana
Hmm... So, I have to live in a Windows environment for work and whatnot, but I'd seriously consider a Macbook as a Windows 7 box these days... I guess I'm crazy
- Ken Sheppardson
I've replaced my Macbook's battery 3 times now (1st gen)... But if what Apple says is true about battery life (well, as true as battery life gets) I'll still be buying one.
- AudioThru
Removing the battery helps extend a laptop's lifeline ;) you use it without the battery plugged into the mains - Apple wants to reduce the lifeline and increase revenue by doing so ;)

What do you do on a 17 hour flight from Australia to the USA if you can't swap batteries?
- Cameron Reilly
Bring two MacBooks? It sucks, but I don't think it'll hurt sales at all. I think the majority of people would just live with the longer-lasting but non-swappable battery.
- Jed
Yeah, there are some pretty extreme use cases one can construct, but I think if you plan to take more than one 17hr flight during the time you own your laptop, you could probably invest in an external battery, no? Do those exist for Macbooks?
- Ken Sheppardson
I've been REALLY impressed with my 17" MBP battery life. I think the trade-off is worth it.
- Jay
And if that battery fails in a year? On my 2007 MBP, I could simply walk down to the Apple store, buy a new battery, and call it a day. To be without my notebook for any period of time would be downtime I simply couldn't afford. Same goes for the iPhone.
- Jared Smith
How long does it take Apple to swap out a non-removable battery? Has anyone gone through the process? Do you have to leave it overnight or longer?

Love this! Might not be practical all the time but the focus is in the right place. "Sitting here in a brick-and-mortar office really is a thing of the past," Miller said. "All the paperwork and all the contracts are accessible online. They (agents) can sit down at a Starbucks and do everything. It's totally cost-effective."

Because Amazon has control over the whole stack, they know precisely who's buying each Kindle, and so the device comes pre-configured to work with your existing Amazon account.
"GENERATION G | "Captures the growing importance of 'generosity' as a leading societal and business mindset. As consumers are disgusted with greed and its current dire consequences for the economy—and while that same upheaval has them longing more than ever for institutions that care—the need for more generosity beautifully coincides with the ongoing (and pre-recession) emergence of an online-fueled culture of individuals who share, give, engage, create and collaborate in large numbers. In fact, for many, sharing a passion and receiving recognition have replaced 'taking' as the new status symbol. Businesses should follow this societal/behavioral shift, however much it may oppose their decades-old devotion to me, myself and I.”"
