"From my reading (and owning a Pre), the Droid and Pre have similar features and abilities. Leaving the iPhone out of the equation IMO if you're already with Sprint going with the Pre isn't a bad choice, and same with Verizon and the Droid. Unless you have network issues, neither won't makes me count down days until my contract is up. One BIG difference (pardon the pun) is that the Pre and Droid vary greatly in size and weight. "If you're ALREADY in the Verizon contact, you shouldn't need to cancel. You will need to play full price on the phone however. Here's a trick though. I'm already with Sprint and I wanted a Palm Pre (which I think is great), so I sent Sprint Customer Service an email. I told them I wanted a Pre but didn't want to wait 3 months to become upgrade eligible and that I might as well look into other carriers and phones if I had to wait. I said the magic word: "iPhone" 30 minutes later I was sent an email detailing how I could get a Palm Pre right away at the "new customer" price.
