“Really considering devoting Facebook to people I've met twice or more... Anyone else have a similar policy?”
26 minutes ago - Link
My Facebook policy is that 99% of those I add I've spend a decent amount of time with in real life. I've been making exceptions for a few ppl whose personalities I've come to know online. - xero
just the ones i know better even if i haven't seen them ;) - Mystika
so u just ignore people that add u from social networks like Friendfeed etc...? - Zee.
I used to be picky. But then I realized people will follow you wherever they are most comfortable. So now, I never say no to Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. If they want to follow me somewhere else because they like the blog... fine. - Louis Gray
I don't really care anymore - the lines got blurred and now it's like, no return land LOL - Mona N.
I don't distinguish between RL friends and Internet friends. You all play a part in my life and last time I checked Facebook wasn't that sacred. It's a place to keep in touch with me and play some fun apps. Why would that be reserved for people in RL? - Lindsey in Love
Some people are only on FB. It's how it is. I'd much rather be here, but I'm getting the hang of FB a little more these days. - Eric @ CS Techcast
I have no distinction. I don't think it really matters. - Mo Kargas
oh well I stay well clear of the apps Lindsey and to be honest. I really just want people that I've met once or twice to really keep in touch with me...Besides I have like four geek sites I use, FB might just be ideal for only "met in person" people... - Zee.
I only use facebook for the people I know in real life - Michael Hocter
meh . . . then nice knowing ya - Lindsey in Love
Damn, I know adding me is what led Zee to this decision. IT'S ALL MY FAULT! - Derrick
I just go with people that I know, it doesn't matter if I haven't met you in person yet. - mathew, keynote not lame
LOL Derrick, no no...it's the like 10 other adds I get from random people I've never seen/heard of that bothers me... - Zee.

http://www.Microsoft.com/tag This is the coolest thing I have seen so far. You can add these color tags to things and any phone can read them. They released an iPhone app today! Free! - Robert Scoble via mail2ff
Cool, if people will use it. Kind of like web slices, it has to be implemented. We'll see. - Eric @ CS Techcast
is that like those QR codes? - David
I like this idea. It's the same principle as scanning a supermarket barcode. We need more of this; Japan has it, after all! Thx for the post. - Allen S.
Interesting but do we really need another one? I have three of these apps on my phone already. Barcorama seems to be the most versatile but I doubt it will have MS's new stuff. These "Smart pox" systems have been around for years in Asia, do we really need to reinvent the system? - Kalidor
after looking at the site, it is like the QR codes, except colorful and by proxy hip - David

Looks nice - might be something to conisdert... hook up to external monitor when at the desk - Matt Faulkner via twhirl
Is that a fully functional PC in your pocket or are you just glad to see me? - Eric @ CS Techcast
$1500 for 2gig of RAM and 3G? Who buys this stuff?! - Mona N.
It's essentially a netbook in a smaller body. Not quite sure it's worth $1,500. - Shawn Farner
Like the screen, but yes that price is galactic. That said you could put an OLED toaster in front of me and I'd love the screen. - Mo Kargas
As always, wait for the price to drop. Then you can snatch up this beauty. - Mohomed=genieyclo
Not worth it?!?!! Dude!! OLED!!! - Bwana
$1499? Is it made out of gold? - John Munro
I'm waiting for the Sony Vaio. At least it folds and the screen would be protected. - Mona N.
When it get's cheaper, that'll be awesome. I'll have to enjoy my netbook for now. - Kamilah Gill
i'll wait a year when its $700 - early adopters will pay the R&D costs for me - Damian Holmes
Damn. My oqo is ready for an upgrade. I wonder if they give discounts for current oqo owners. @Matt - I hook my model 02 up to my 56" Samsung DLP via HDMI connection. It's amazing. - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Do you guys know what OLED is? This isn't going to drop anytime soon - Bwana
yeah I know what it is - Joshua Smith
isn't that the flexible led monitor screen stuff? - tony
yeah i know - what I also remember is LCD 7-8 years ago for a 15" - Damian Holmes
Looks like they polished the design quite a bit. I don't think I'd consider it though without some kind of "instant on" feature like the HTC Shift. - Chris
I apologize. I see OLED, and bodily fluids are involuntarily released. Carry on - Bwana

Gary Shilling's 2009 Predictions: We're Still Screwed
22 hours ago - clusterstock.alleyinsider.com - Link
"Last year, economist Gary Shilling humiliated the rest of the economic forecasting industry by going 13 for 13. As promised, here are Gary's predictions for this year:" - Paul Buchheit via Bookmarklet
What's his historical track record? - torque
"Past Performance Is Not A Guarantee Of Future Returns" etc. - Logical Extremes
At the beginning of 2008, his 13 for 13 made some sense (especially in hindsight). But the 12 for 2009 aren't as sensible. Now with the market still near decade lows, he's saying sell almost everything you haven't already sold? Even if the markets are going lower, how many investors will be able to get back in later such that getting out now will have made sense? - Logical Extremes
That depends how low things go. The 1929 market took years to bottom. Here are some of his recommendations going back to 1997: http://search.forbes.com/searc... - Paul Buchheit
Gotta set up an imaginary friend for this guy - great recommendation - Christopher Galtenberg
He seems to be following the advice "don't try to guess the bottom of a market". As some say, "bottom pickers will be cotton pickers". In other words, wait for a clear confirmation that the market has bottomed before going long again. - Chris Lamprecht
"9. Buy the dollar." - i guess he isnt concerned about inflation - bob
Inflation is actually a really complicated issue. A lot of people are projecting inflation at some point, but when will it occur? Also, inflation of what? Fuel prices and housing have gone down, and many think they will continue to stay low. That's deflation. Also, the increase in the money supply is mostly through increases of credit lines to banks. If the banks don't lend, the money doesn't flow into the economy. And even then, it has to offset the massive de-leveraging that has/is occurring. - Chris White
Finally, there is concern that the dollar could be (massively) devalued against other currencies and/or gold. This might occur if other countries move their large treasury holdings to other currencies and/or assets. However, this requires they believe in the safety of those assets more than in the safety of the dollar, and so far that hasn't been the case. If we do see this kind of massive devaluation of our currency, I'm afraid canned goods and guns might be the best investments. - Chris White
USD is in a tricky position. On the one hand there's a large debt that's going to get bigger. On the other, nobody wants to see the USD devalue. Not China with it's massive USD-based holdings. Not the big oil/gas/agriculture producers who trade in USD. All signs show the USD is overvalued, but the market is protecting it. - Cains
Yup, the dollar isn't really the dollar...it's really the dollar-yuan...People need to stop worrying about hyper-inflation/deflation caused by the Chinese...When the Chinese announce that they've decoupled the yuan from the dollar? That's when you can start to worry. - Alex Scoble
I'd agree with Cains, but if this guy is right, the recession is going to get worse. Net result of a rising dollar is always a strain on exports, the higher the dollar goes, the less affordable American exports become - Duncan Riley

hopefully it won't be a pig like the rest of their products have been for years - Steven Hodson
I think Microsoft has had this for awhile now. - Richard Ashwell
lets just hope it works - rama mamuaya
interesting idea from a company that was starting to become irrelevant IMHO. I lost a lot of trust in companies like Norton and McAfee, among others, when they started hooking their software so deep into the OS that nothing short of diving into the windows registry to remove it was needed. - slayerboy
