What The Hell Happened To The Free Version Of Google Apps? - http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
It's still there: http://www.google.com/apps... , but Google doesn't link to it visibly. I posted about this last year: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008... - Ionut
Ionut, last year it was difficult to find the link. Now it's almost impossible. - Tony Ruscoe
I agree, but you can still use Google search: http://www.google.com/search... . Google should add a small message below the big blue button: "Looking for the free edition for personal use?" - Ionut
Hiding a free version is probably a move toward paid-only offering. Google Apps has over 15 million active users now http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/2009060...: how many of them pay the 50$ yearly fee? Only few I guess, since universities, non-profit organizations and probably most companies with less than 100 employees don't pay a dime. Google would need 360M paying users to match their MS Office's sales, which generated 17B $ in 2008 (business division only http://www.microsoft.com/msft...). Big goal. - Jérôme Flipo
