Here's how I perceive our human bias. We handle relics of past civilizations with such care and respect, yet we'll pick up a rock and casually throw it against another rock, totally blind to the fact the rock is more ancient by several million years than anything ever produced by humans.

Cleo just got her bi-weekly bath and now my beautiful dog and I are about to enjoy the Eagles/Cards game. I didn't even know I could get the NFL station.
Technology has altered a few of my perceptions. Belts aren't for holding my pants up as much as they are needed to hold my cell phone. My backpack isn't for odds&ends, it's for my laptop. My favorite pen writes well, but I value it because it's also a USB drive.
For next April 1st, Scoble, Louis, Jason, and the other attention attractors ought to conspire to talk up a new social site, set up a dummy "gotcha" page and count the hits. I bet just from Twitter and Friendfeed it could go into the 1000s.
