And the pendulum just keeps swinging back and forth, back and forth... dumbed down consoles, full powered PCs, full powered mobile devices, dumbed down mobile devices. Hrm... - Jeff Eddings

It looks like Gabe's sister might be getting married in California this May or June. Our baby is due in April. We're contemplating whether to leave her with my parents or take her on a the plane with us. - Maggie
Depends on you guys. I'm sure Baby April would sleep through the flight. If anything, the first 3 months just might be the best age range to travel. ;) - April Buchheit
I would take my son if I went somewhere that early, but April has more experience than me. If you are planning to nurse, it seems like the separation could throw your milk production out of wack (both uncomfortable while there and lower when you get back... - Clare Dibble
Thanks! I hadn't thought of either of those things. It looks like baby's first trip on an airplane will be this spring. - Maggie
Depends: how many hours has the baby logged to get his or her pilot's license? - Jeff Eddings
Jeff, I said "flying with a baby", not "with a baby flying"! :) - Gabe
Milan is 15 months and has been to Europe three times with no problems yet. I would say two months is perfect to fly. - Robert Scoble
As a non-baby owner, what is the potential risk? The pressurized cabin? Loud noises? - Mark Trapp
Mark: Assuming that flying is just as stressful for babies as for adults, and knowing that stress weakens the immune system, it is possible that the a cross-country flight may make a baby sick. I'm not worried that my child will be injured, I just don't want to spend the vacation carring for a sick baby. - Gabe
What a great way of putting it. I think tech companies can be highly susceptible to this sort of behavior, perhaps because some geeks have a tendency to be assholes when they "know" they're right. It takes a concerted effort to be sure this behavior doesn't take root. - Joel Webber
There's a fascinating story I heard about on This American Life (taken from this research study: http://books.google.com/books?... ) about how one bad apple can ruin group dynamics, and one of the three identified personality types that can ruin it turns out to be "the jerk," which is probably just another way of saying "asshole." Bottom line: a group performs only as good as its worst member, its "bad apple." Listen to TAL here: http://www.thisamericanlife.or... - Jeff Eddings
And how was it? Sean Penn looks to do a good job in the trailers. - Dylan Parker
I've read this twice now, and both times, I thought you were going to a porno. The word "adult" in certain combinations have been sequestered by that industry, I tell ya. Funny story I should tell you sometime about a moving box my wife labeled "adult books"... - Jeff Eddings
“My favorite new Hong Kong snack food: Takoyaki (Japanese octopus ball) potato chips. Comes with a packet of powder that you sprinkle onto the chips, then you shake the bag to evenly coat. Delicious but probably full of addictive chemical additives.”
Every time I hear or read "Ponzi scheme," it always makes me think of stealing that really delicious citrus soy sauce they serve down at my neighborhood sushi bar, but I guess that's more of a "ponzu scheme." - Jeff Eddings
I suppose you make your bed, you gotta sleep in it (even though your gay husband and his partner are sleeping in it already). - Jeff Eddings

Yes, exercise is rewarding and reduces stress. This shouldn't be news to anyone :p - Charles Bihis
that's because running is an escape to reality, and not the opposite - thomas marban
It's been shown over and over again that one of the best ways to build a strong mind is cardiovascular exercise (see: http://piaw.blogspot.com/2008/...). Yet our offices and schools aren't designed around that! - Piaw Na
I've been there -- it's Juliana Airport in St. Maarten in the Caribbean. It's absolutely nuts how close the end of the runway is to the ocean/beach. - Jeff Eddings
There have been a number of tear-jerking moments in this campaign. Hearing that Obama will build a basketball court at the White House was one of them. :-) - Jeff Eddings
Whether he's singing Yellow, Feelings, or Never Gonna Give You Up, you just gotta love Beaker. Continues to amuse me and make me smile :-). (and kudos to the wacky peeps who put this stuff together AND to copy-fighters like Larry Lessig who fight for the right for people to actually share this!). - Adam Lasnik
Adam K, that's absolutely one of my favorites! :-) (and it's my understanding that it's quietly promoting the -- yes -- upcoming new Muppets Movie!) - Adam Lasnik
That last photo is exactly what your artery will look like just before the heart attack. The real challenge (if you live) is getting a stent in to keep the heart going after all the damage :) - V for वज्र (vajra)
ahhhhhhhhhh...after a week's vacation i know all is right with the world when I come back to bacon on FF! :-) IN FACT, I'm having some right now! - Live4Soccer
Hiding this because it makes me want to barf. - Clay Newton
I still think that all the chemicals and preservatives in all the processed packet junk around these days is probably more harmful than bacon grease. - Ian May
I like my bacon in strips of three. After that, I'm good. I don't need an entire package deep fried and then covered in cheese. I'm simple like that. - Derrick
I really couldn't eat that packet covered in cheese. I'm not saying I wouldn't like it, but I think all that much fat would simply make me feel nauseous. - Ian May
I tried making this the other day, the first half is nice but the second gets a bit to much! - Arthur Guy
Makes me feel sick looking at those pics :( - Sally Church
It looked to tempting not to try! There was a bit to much fat for my liking so I might try again with 'proper' English bacon with the fat cut off, the streaky bacon I used was almost 50% fat. - Arthur Guy
This reminds me of my fave appetizer to make...bacon tater bites (wrap a cooked strip of bacon and strip of American cheese around a half-baked Tater Tot and broil until crispy). Now I want some... - Amanda H.
Just did the calculations, this entire thing is about 980 calories, which isn't bad when you consider a cheeseburger and fries from In-and-Out is 880 calories. Granted, it's 80 grams of fat in that thing... :-) - Jeff Eddings
i think i would fill it with tater tots and less cheese, then maybe a really thin layer of scrabled eggs (omelette). then roll it, light one end and smoke it until gone - Morgan Haley
Who could delete your tweet? Oh, were you making fun of Biz or Ev? - Kevin Fox
I think he meant he made a joke @someone's expense, but when @someone deleted the originally offending tweet, @shellen just looked like a mean-spirited poo-poo-head. Right? - Jeff Eddings
My friend and her husband started this company a few years back. I think once you come up with a name like "crapola," you have to start a company. :-) - Jeff Eddings

Do you ever have your browser remember the password? What happens when you ask both the site and the browser to remember the password? - Dan Hsiao
Hmm, so you're looking for a word that means "Software that perfectly mimics my own actions when logging into web sites". - Cyrus Lendvay
Yeah, this is when the browser offers to remember my password and I say 'yes!' and then the site says 'wrong password' so I try a different password on the next page and the browser again asks 'remember?' and I say 'YES!' thinking it'll erase my earlier mistake, but no. The new Firefox helps solve this problem by letting me wait to decide whether to save the password until after I know if it works, but I'm still looking for an in-context way to tell Firefox to *forget* what it thinks it knows. - Kevin Fox
Related: What do you call it when you start typing before the page finishes loading, then it finishes loading and shifts focus back to the username input just you start typing your password, and you end up typing it in clear text in the wrong input? It always happens to me when there are people around watching. - Guillermo Esteves
Well, the password fails, then the password passes, but 'passfailpasspass' sounds like a football strategy, especially if it's followed by 'punt'. - Kevin Fox
