I am all about the Ultimate Fighter Finale tonight! Got the DVR going! It should be a great event. The fights have been the best yet!
- Jeff Day
from fftogo
It's a good movie. Everything Shyamalan does is great.
- Svartling
Totally - look away from the light, Carol Ann!!!
- Steve Isaacs
I liked this movie, but took nothing away from it. It is rather predictable though.
- Enrique Gutierrez
from twhirl
Overall I liked it, but the "surprise" ending was far too predictable.
- Brandon Wood
I had to respond to "Everything Shyamalan does is great". The Sixth Sense is his only end-to-end great movie. Other movies had glaring flaws, either related to plot, pace or ending. And Lady in the Water was an unmitigated disaster.
- Carter Rabasa
My favorite is "Signs". It's fabulous!
- Svartling
"Everything Shyamalan does is great" -- well, that is partially true, because all of his movies end eventually, which is great. It's the part in between the beginning and the ending that is not so great.
- Jeremy Brooks
It is only worth seeing if you have somehow made it all these years without ever hearing anything about it. Even then, it is not great.
- Jordan
just wait till you see "The Happening". Let's just say you might want to go the the budget show, or wait until it comes out on DVD.
- Jeff Day
Shyamalan is trying to too hard to come up with the "revelation" ending for all of his movies. Now I find myself just waiting for the "a ha" moment and the last few just haven't been able to meet the 6th Sense threshold.
- George Lee
from twhirl
Probably the best "a ha" moment in a movie better than the end of the 6th Sense is the one of Usual Suspects... don't you think ?
- Fabien Spina
The movie isn't bad, has some good suspense, but is part of the downward spiral of Shyamalan's career ending hopefully in "the happening" (read: terrible movie)
- Tony
The Happening is so awful it's actually interesting just for its awfulness.
- Dave Winer
Here's the twist at the end: it was Earth all along. What a twist!
- Mark Trapp

The real tragedy is I've yet to figure out how to make chocolate, bacon, and cheese work in one dish. I don't think it is possible :( Seems you can only chocolate cover something or cheese melt something, not both.
- Michael W. May
@Michael - What about a grilled cheese with slices of the chocolate covered bacon inside? ... On second thought, I might have just made myself sick.
- Yolanda
I agree these suggestions are out of hand!
- Stefan Hayden
There is meat-flavored water though... no joke. In fact, bacon might be involved.
- Mark Dykeman
i know there is a turkey and gravy flavored soda.....i would never try it...but o each his own.
- Jeff Day
Back in the 80's in Shreveport, La there was a soda called "cajun cola" that was actually spicey. It was pretty much a novelty and never really took off. I can remember trying it as a kid. It was a litlte too much

This bubbled up again! So... the update is that we are at week 34. My wife's already been having contractions, but is on pills (every 4 hours) to stop them, and let the kids bake a little longer. The pills stop next week. Yes, they are our first and second.

Hillary reported as saying roughly, "I'll do whatever I can to help us win." Us being her and Obama. Jeez. Talk about ruthless. She does NOT want to lose. Whatever it takes.

Maryland superdelegate and DNC AAPI Caucus Chair Belkis (Bel) Leong-Hong announced today that she is endorsing Barack Obama for President - 10 or 11 delegates to go, depending on who you talk too.
- Andrew Dobrow
Yea,I fell asleep. For those who don't know, Obama is now the presumptive democratic nominee.
- Andrew Dobrow
She's said this publicly before, always followed-up by "but I think the voters of [insert latest Clinton victory state here] have different ideas on who should be on the top of that ticket"
- Kevin Fox
Biatch. I can't stand people who feel entitled as much as she does. I can't wait until we hear the last of the Clintons. And the Bushes for that matter.
- David Risley
there is NO WAY this will happen...obama is not only buying hillary, he gets bill too. he won't want that.

why would Obama choose a republican <G>? It's not going to happen.
- Doug Brooks
I'm not sure I'd feel safe with her as a VP if I were Obama...after all this?
- cmiper
He'd be doing himself an injustice by choosing Hillary. The campaign has been too messy and too ugly.
- Andrew Dobrow
She can be interested all she wants. We don't want her.
- Chris Reed
Never say never. The party leaders may be pressuring both sides to show some "love" and prove that they can be a united party. Agree with Louis about the real breaking news.
- Dave Ploch
I hope that never happens. Would not want to see her in the VP spot for the same reason that I wouldn't want her as a Prez. She's too combative and stubborn and will go against everything that the Prez would do, and will only create conflict. It would be a disaster.
- Raoul Pop
Instead she said, roughly, "I'll do whatever I can to help us win." http://www.politico.com/blogs... LOL! Is that roughly as in "approximately" or roughly as in "harshly"? ;>)

- Steve Lynch
I don't remember where I went in Seattle. In San Francisco, there's a great Spanish place in the Mission district with $7 haircuts ($10 for flat-tops like mine). In Los Angeles, a guy in Westwood I went to for 12 years. In Ohio, Supercuts - one lady there free-hands flat-tops, like my guy in Los Angeles. NYC never really settled on a place. Jerusalem was great - you could get a super-fancy cut for $15-20 (like a $50-100 cut in the US).
- Mitchell Tsai
I go Supercuts, but not because I like them, it's because I don't know who else I can trust. It's like McDonalds, they don't have the best burgers, but at least the food tastes the same no matter which one you go to.

I think the fact of a giant metal bird flying over would have traumatised them enough already. Civilisation has a pretty good abiility to destroy native cultures, even when it's not trying to. The whole area should, in my opinion be turned into a no-fly zone.

I think you're completely wrong - the old, rich white guy who's perceived as a war hero is going to win, possibly in a landslide. This has nothing to do with my personal preference - although I'm starting to like McCain more and Obama less, that perception might well change by Election Day, and I think either one would make a good President. Aside from the White House, though, I think you're right - the Dems will sweep the other elections this year.
- Mitch Wagner
Of the available choices, I don't really care who winds up being president. I would be more than pleasantly surprised if Obama wins. But I fear people living in LA, NYC, Boston, the Bay Area etc are going to wake up one November morning very disappointed at the realization that a lot of the rest of the country doesn't think the same way.
- Robert Seidman
I predicted Obama's win in Feb but I'm doubtful now. McCain might make him look naive in an issues fight. Whoever wins will win by single digit margins
- Keith - @tsudo

now, now. let's not get carried away. see what happened the last two times. history may very well repeat itself especially considering that this country has a large underclass that tends to unknowingly vote against their interests. didn't obama say something like that not too long ago? hmm...

dogs are good. also, an unloaded shotgun, just for the sound it makes. or that's what a cop in Houston told me once.
- edythe
edythe, that's very true. One of the most arresting sounds out there is the sound of a shotgun being cocked. It's also the best weapon for home defense because of the scatter.
- Akiva Moskovitz
There are too many illegal guns in Oakland. There should be harsher prison sentences for possessing an illegal gun.
- Thomas Hawk
I live in a rural area. The convicted felons who also happen to be my neighbors used to have a habit of shooting the neighborhood dogs (they felt they were protecting their peacocks). They would also take the occasional potshot at people they didn't like. Eventually the police took their guns away (felons aren't allowed to own them) but several dogs died beforehand. My point is that there is a certain kind of person that is all too trigger-happy for anyone's good.
- Jason Wehmhoener
Actually joe, guns are inanimate objects. they need someONE to pull the trigger. There are good reasons for owning one and there are people who choose not to. I am fine with both. I choose to be a gun owner and packer (i live and travel for my job in TX) for my safety.
- Jeff Day
from fftogo
I agree with you Jeff, but I also see Joe's point. Personally, I don't necessarily care if guns are banned. BUT that isn't the solution to violent crime, it's just not that simple. So what if you stop people from having registered guns? The majority of gun crimes in Canada are from weapons smuggled in from the U.S. Shouldn't that be the first priority?
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
I am not sure what you are asking shey, but I think that registration is a good thing. as far as smuggling guns, criminals are criminals, and if it is not a gun , then it will be a knife or a bomb or a baseball bat. they will use whatever means necessary to commit the crime. it is a broad question that really does not have an answer. I am just glad I can protect myself and my family with one if I choose.
- Jeff Day
from fftogo
I don't like guns - nothing but trouble. My friends think it's humorous that I was in the military 10 years and have never shot one. I did shoot a laser gun though. Pew pew.
- Vince DeGeorge
I don't like guns either, but what's the solution? In the VA Tech shooting and the one before that, the guys had legally registered guns. But the majority of gun-related crime in DC and Baltimore (2 high crime, high violence areas) is from illegal guns. I agree that even if you stop the guns, crime will continue unabated.

I think this vector is self-limiting, since it relies on curiosity clickthrough from friend notifications. Eventually we'll just stop clicking on them. A smarter spammer would just leave comments on every item in the public feed.
- ⓞnor
Since FriendFeed subscriptions are one-way, do you actually see the spam? One of our goals with our subscription system is that its one-way nature would help shield you from spam (just unsubscribe from the person who spammed you).
- Bret Taylor
Well; she subscribed to me, I got an email, clicked on her profile and realized it was probably spam so didn't reciprocate the friendship. Since she friended me once she can't friend me again so I'll never get another email from her and it isn't really too bad. But I can imagine getting more than a few of these a day could be annoying.

Because no one pays workers more than minimum wage today so they're never motivated to do a good job? Or maybe everyone loves Starbucks. It's definitely not that there are too few locations.
- Kevin Shannon
At 05:30 EDT in Sudbury MA, you are unlikely to find a line
- Stephen Pierzchala
I've always thought it was intentional -- if there's a line, it must be special. Starbucks ain't idiots, and surely they could find a better way to move orders.
- Chris Baskind
We could speculate that Starbucks has optimized their business process: minimize labor costs while creating a perception of higher demand, which lets them charge more. They also want to be a destination, hoping you go there to see and be seen and maybe spot a friend and stay to chat and buy more stuff. Or, maybe, just too many damn people drink coffee.
- LogEx
becuase people are like rats on a caffiene drip - me included....via feedalizr
- Morgan
And you guys think we pay alot for gasoline? We pay more for coffee and WATER for goodness sake. Try rationing Starbuck. We would have an uprising!
- Jeff Day
they do? I don't drink coffee (never liked the taste), so very rarely visit Starbucks
- Daniel Robitaille
If you sold an addictive product, you might also have a line. They also happen to have a terrific brand that lines of coffee drinkers (addicts and non-addicts) seems to enjoy enough to wait for.
- Shambhu N. Vineberg
I find Starbucks has less of a line than Peets - but I continue to go to Peets because it's flat out better ... and I'm a caffeine junky.
- AJ Kohn
Neil: are you saying we'll soon have to wait in line for our FriendFeed? Heheh!
- Robert Scoble
It's worse in larger metro areas like SF and LA. In the Midwest (other than the ground floor of the Sears Tower), the only time you'll see bad lines is in the early morning rush

It should not matter if a job is minimum wage or not. You should always do your very best at whatever job you are doing. Why not make the best of any job you have?
- Michael Tefft
I used to love my job at Starbucks. There are always entirely too many customers, though. No way to make those drinks any faster. Especially that frozen crap.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I don't go to Starbucks unless I need to use the restroom or there is a geocache outside. :)

The lines here in Phoenix have been noticebly shorter over the past six months. The store I usually go to in donwntown Phoenix is practically dead anymore.
- Al Stevens
I've never "bought" anything in Starbucks,Just surfed a little there...What do they sell again?
- Anthony Farrior
All lines have noise, and some people dig the noise because they consider themselves good at plucking out a trend, a scoop or a must see ... well that's the theory, and a lot of people hang around the theorist.
- Micah Wittman
better question is why does Scoble get 8 million comments when he farts?
- Noah David Simon
If you find Starbucks over-roasted (and it is, terribly), you might want to give their new drip brew ("Pikes Place") a try -- it's considerably lighter roasted and better. As a bonus, it's the cheapest coffee drink on the menu.
- Chuck Lawson
A soy misto with the new Pikes Place blend is mighty nice. Add a couple raw sugars, and I'm good to go. When my friends order their lovely $6.00 drinks, I just point and laugh. I should stop: it's mean.
- ha3rvey (wants confit)
Yep. I never could drink the Starbucks drip until Pikes Place. Now I get the Misto instead of a latte. Cheaper and probabl;y more caffience, since drip has more caffience usually than espresso.
