They scheduled me for an extraction, which they did today. Pretty uneventful aside from my demonstration that I am a lightweight when it comes to anaesthesia. The girl totally knocked me out with the nitrous oxide. Hydrocodone is kicking in now... Ima have to quit typing :-)

I am one wisdom tooth down. Not sad to see it go. And now... a drug-induced nap is coming on...
Dear internet: I need some space. It's not you, it's me. I think of you as a brother, and I'm sure we'll be able to talk in the future. They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder....
I used to be a singer for a latin funk/rock band. I sang mostly back-up, but was tagged for lead on any pretty ballads, since the other singer had a monstrous rock belting voice, and mine is more of a sweet and husky sound. #saturdayff
I left the band under the pretense of being too busy with school, but really I wanted to break up with my boyfriend, who was also in the band, and I thought it would be awkward for us to try to still work together like that.

His reasoning was that we never see her parents and she lives with her grandpa. Then he explained to me that if Jeremy and I died he would probably go live with his aunt. Unless he was a grownup.

Do other people's four-year-olds say things like this?
- Jenthemum
My 4yo one time asked me if I was upset and after I said I was, she said, "Come so I can give you a BIG HUG so you can be happy." :-D

But you better believe she can drive me bonkers too. >.< The cuteness makes up for it though. :P

Kids kids..are adorable until they become teens !!

Oh, he's definitely cute... that didn't save him from standing in the corner for the flippant attitude :-)

#FFPoll: I need three more books for Summer Reading. Any suggestions? (My tastes are varied, however, in any genre I prefer to stay away from heavy profanity and bodice-rippers.)
I have read North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell so far. I have no specific list past that, though in the running are Hitchhiker's Guide (which I have always meant to read) and a collection of short stories by China Mieville. I'm investigating the suggestions from Alex and Rochelle right now.
- Jenthemum
Hitchhiker's Guide is also an excellent choice
- Alex Scrivener
My current read. Everyone familiar with Gaskell has raved about this tale, and its corresponding BBC adaptation, so I am going to read this and finally watch the miniseries when I'm done.
I actually already own the miniseries; it came in a Gaskell collection I got for my birthday last year. I have just refused to watch it until I could read the book. I am SO thrilled to be reading something for fun again!

I have not stayed up late reading in so very long.... but I'm loving this novel. There is romance involved in this plot, but I definitely wouldn't label it a romance. Strangely, it is a look at the relationship between company and worker, and the balance that has to be struck between them. And the relative usefulness of unions.

At the Atascocita library? I took my nephews over there last week for an activity and it was so crowded they weren't even able to participate. They were disappointed but I think we're just going to do the reading program in our small town.
- Trish R
At the Humble library- but it's an online signup, and we haven't tried to go to any events yet.
- Jenthemum
Some of the events require a ticket, and they always hand out a limited amount 30 minutes before the event. This causes some kids to be left out, even if they arrive early and are participating in the reading program and stand in line. I wish there was a better way to let everyone participate who shows up.

#FFPoll: When you see "LA," do you think of Louisiana or Los Angeles?
Having lived in California most of my life, I think Los Angeles every time, but here in east Texas, it seems that people usually mean Louisiana. It's a little confusing.

Following the train of birth stories: I was born at Landstuhl Army Hospital in 1979. My dad dropped my mom off at the hospital, then drove back to Ramstein to get some civilian clothes (he had come to get her straight from the flightline). While he was gone, the doctors discovered that I was breech.
Since she was so far along in labor, they couldn't turn me, and decided to let my mom try to birth me in the usual way. Which she did. With no epidural. My dad barely made it back in time for me to be born- feet first (which, if you know anything about birthing, is not the favored position). Aside from having to wear corrective casts for a short time due to my womb position, I was perfectly healthy.
- Jenthemum
Having heard this story of my birth my whole life definitely gave me a dose of confidence when it came time to have my own kids. I knew women could survive giving birth in ways that many doctors won't normally allow nowadays. And I like to think I'm tougher than she is ;-) #saturdayff

"...it's been revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the titular lead on the BBC television series "Sherlock Holmes" opposite "Hobbit" star Martin Freeman as Watson, is joining the cast of Jackson's two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel."
- Jenthemum
My thoughts, exactly. Complete with that punctuation and everything.

"Gerald area clue the farm." Thank you, Google Voice.
I guess I should have explained that the status on top is from a Texas-dweller, while the status below is from a Northern Californian. That makes it way funnier :-P

Thanks to Glen C. for an unwitting amusing screenshot.

I WILL finish this coat of arms today.... I've got four more behind it to do!
Had a terrible dream last night that Jer decided to have a particular surgery leading to no more kids without consulting me. Even worse, I found out about it secondhand, and when I came home upset he totally brushed me off like I was making too much out of it.
