It's taken awhile but FINALLY found how to bypass all the excess postings in this latest version of FB... click the "Friends" link in the left column to expand it, second link down is "Status Updates" and voilà -- only status updates without farms, zoos, cafes, who became friends or joined what... so nice to be finally clutter-free.
