Didn't realize there was a 2,000 following limit - Jesse Stay
Robert Scoble, is this limit affecting you at all? This is worse than Facebook if true. - Jesse Stay from twhirl
This is brand new, as far as I can tell. I'm stuck at exactly 2,000, as I chose to auto-follow about 1750 or so, and there are a few more I've added myself. Now I'm stuck. - Louis Gray
Good to know Louis - want a guest post? :-) - Jesse Stay from twhirl
This issue has been brewing for a few weeks. http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter...? The cut-off seems to be around 2,000 but some people are seeing it happen at a different number. - Mike Doeff
I wonder how this hasn't made Techmeme yet. It seems to be only for new users approaching 2k following. - Jesse Stay from twhirl
...and Twitter acknowledged the issue (sort of) on this recent blog post... http://blog.twitter.com/2008... - Mike Doeff
I asked Twitter to turn on the auto-follow script on @twitlive - it seems to be still working. I'm following 15,000 or so people right now. I can see why they'd want to stop people from auto-following, though. Following too many people on Pownce actually kills it. - Leo Laporte
Jesse - a number of people who have been impacted by this have blogged about it but the A-listers either don't consider this to be an issue or it's not on their radar. Here's a post from @williamsba from July 28... http://www.strangework.com/2008... - Mike Doeff
Twitter's own autofollow is horrible - there's no way to prevent spammers. If you use a service like SocialToo to do auto-following and can block spammers, etc. from the interface autofollow shouldn't be such a bad thing - Jesse Stay from twhirl
