Am I understanding correctly that Twitter just killed #followfriday?:
Not sure how exactly they mean this to work. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Tsega, which, consequently, I believe kills #followfriday since most people suggested are supposed to be people you don't follow. - Jesse Stay
Tsega, they've already had that setting where you can choose whether you want to see them or not. They've now made it so you can't choose to see them at all. They're simply off. - Jandy
as Chris Charabaruk said...just another bad decision in a series of them - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Am I an idiot? I can't find the replies setting. I'm looking in the Notice section of Settings, but don't see anything about replies. - Rochelle
They removed it. - Michael McKean
Rochelle, that's because they removed it and left it off by default. That's what this post was about. - Jesse Stay
So they removed it, yet the "Tips" section on the right side of that section still talks about how to use the Replies setting and links to the Help for understanding how Replies work. What the heck? - Rochelle
(sorry to jack the thread) Rochelle I wondered if I could use your gorgeous baby's pic in a blog article? --the uber cute one you posted the other day (I asked there) - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Rob, DM me. - Rochelle
you aren't following or I would have ;) - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Fixed. Now you can. - Rochelle
Get a room you two ;-) - Jesse Stay
Hey, what happens in Jesse's thread, stays in Jesse's thread - Mark Traphagen
Jesse - My take is that Twitter is trying to kill the gaming of other 'well-known' users names. I did a quick counter-post to yours here: - Charlie Anzman
Charlie, my post was intended to be more of a question, because it seemed as though they had. I don't see what this has to do with gaming Twitter accounts though. - Jesse Stay
And just to clarify, it has nothing to do with SocialToo - I was just being me, blogging. It affects SocialToo in no way (other than another vague announcement with no notice, as you mentioned) - Jesse Stay
I'm not a fan of Follow Friday, but how does this change kill it? If you mention a Twitter username in your tweet, all your followers will see it. Only tweets that begin with an @reply are subject to this new change. - Ryan
They did clarify this AFTER that article went live. And MANY followfriday tweets start with @firstpersoninthelist - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Follow Friday will remain, the only difference is how you set up the format for it. Rather, than appending the tag to the end as is the usual way of using Hashtags. The best way to do this is to precede your list of people with #followfriday. e.g.(#followfriday @jessestay @guruvan @tsega @etc.) - OCoG of FF, Jimminy
Jesse - There a more than a few programs out there that literally 'lift' posts by specific people and create phantom streams that look legit (while the owner of the stream is asleep). While it may be sorta OK to have a Personal Assistant doing your tweeting (and I'm not sure I even love that), automation really shoots the integrity of the whole concept - Charlie Anzman
Charlie, I'm still not understanding why removing this option stops that. - Jesse Stay from IM
Twitter continues to innovate in the field of "WTF" - Ken Sheppardson
Someone more familiar with the API can confirm, but I spoke with a developer who's suggested that his will not affect his app. So this is just a web interface change? - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Rob, I haven't tested it, but nothing was ever mentioned on the Developers list clarifying one way or another, like all other announcements. - Jesse Stay
Jesse from another thread I posted this in: Heres one: RT @ev Reading people's thoughts on the replies issue. We're considering alternatives. Thanks for your feedback. 14 minutes ago from web - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
We elected to tweetbomb with #fixreplies @twitter @ev @biz Your Message Here ....seems to have had an effect - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
