Sorry Lisa and Yes Marysia I am talking about Twyla Tharpe's box (made me giggle when I listen to it) but the idea of the box for each new project, the scratching around with ideas and then the hard part that follows actually making something out of all of the information you have collected, got me wondering about his box.

I'd really like to know how a 1 week old, no page rank, and no backlinked blog can beat these high page rank and backlinked competition? A number of the competition have Yahoo indexes. It is simply that the domain is a search term; that the blog is highly optimised for that term, and Google sees it as the most relevant?

Is this one of those anomalies where google ranks a new site but it then slips down the rankings all too quickly because of the high powered competition? Be interesting to see where it ranks in a weeks time.

Truthfully Ruth I agree. I have difficulty believing that the site won't be adjusted in some manner, besides the Google dance hasn't finished yet. Phrase match seems to be holding reasonably steady on the first page, but to stay ahead of all these other high powered sites on the broad search term isn't really likely. It would be good to hear Guru Bob's thoughts in view of all the red signals on the SEO page.

not sure, my hits have gone up to avg 500 people a day but I didn't make a sale for 8 days. I'm not sure if my content isn't good enough or people are just not buying

Sales on our niche stuff has increased for now...I know a lot of thirty day challangers are fine - some have seen sales drop off. It really depends - high priced options might struggle a bit...

Ive seen a sales slump!, and its lasted about 3 months, nothing to do with the economy more to the fact that I suck, and would probably make more money selling ice to eskimo's;))

Any slump in IM'ing will probably depend on your niche. This economy might open new doors.

I have a niche that gets teen to mid 20s buyers from the USA and Europe, it dropped dead suddenly about 8 weeks ago. No warning. It was so sudden I checked everything to see if there was an issue but nope, people are still clicking through to buy page... just not buying *shrugs*

I have had my sales go up on 2 sites. But one site always does good this time of year. Another site has dropped off. Not just dropped but, almost stopped!

I agree it all depends on the niche, with seasonality distorting each in different ways. I've seen some overall slowing of traffic to a multiple niche site which may indicate a more general trend. Record month for one market, almost stopped in others. For this reason I'd be wary of over specialising in the longer run.
