"In other words, cue up your “Kill Bill” soundtrack, because these feisty ladies are nothing to be messed with. The prerequisites for a female looking to go into the bodyguard business in Egypt are actually pretty tough. They must speak fluent English, have a background in martial arts and possess a higher education. Clad in an all- black uniform, and sometimes the Islamic headscarf, these female bodyguards are a force to be reckoned with as they protect their charges from bodily harm or even unwanted affection such as catcalling."

Say hi to them for me too! And if you buy anything Hello Kitty there, I will end you.

Nice, remember to hit some of the night markets.
- ronin
+1 ronin! Are you visiting the whole island or just Taipei?
- Louis Simoneau
p.s. if you bring me another night market t-shirt claiming "one size fits all" when it actually barely covers my arm, same result as the Hello Kitty violation mentioned above.
- Kelly
I'm visiting the whole island. I'm in Kaohsiung now with Dominic's family - we just got back from Kenting so I have a lovely sunburn.
- Jessie
And yes, I do have Hello Kitty stuff, but it's not for you, Kelly. :-P I WAS going to get you a denim jacket I saw the other day - it had a floral applique design on the back that on closer inspection turned out to be an NFL helmet. I have never seen a faceguard done in such lovely flowers. Sadly, the owner took off before I could ask her where to find one. :-(

the hello kitty stuff is for yourself, isn't it right? XD

"Having deep faith in the Rockettes, I believe that whichever 36 troupers stride your way in Dallas or Seattle will give you their merry all, their smiles as white as searchlights and as generous as Santa himself. But having just seen the show in its native habitat, I have a new appreciation for both Radio City Music Hall and for city life itself. Presenting great abundance (without gross excess) and rigorous order (without oppressive rigidity), the Rockettes are a vision of urban utopia."

"With its blue shredded shingles and background of miniature prints of cartoon natives, the “Squaw Shopper” takes the cake, winning an A+ in offensive. Maybe if this were the 1950s and this bag were geared to children it wouldn’t be so shocking, but in 2009, the jig is up. What’s most offensive is that they used the word “Squaw” in the name. They could have named it something else that touched on the whimsical indigenous theme without resorting to an offensive term. Maybe this is some sort of Thanksgiving joke I missed?"

"Is it wise for an ad to acknowledge the recession? Raising the topic could easily just make people anxious while reminding them that they're trying to save money. Perhaps that's OK if the ad is for economically priced cars, or for a job search site, or for an insurance company hawking services that are more need-to-have than want-to-have. But what about an ad for a discretionary, quasi-luxury product like a high-end vodka?"

"The series also highlights the difference between the pursuit of engaging television and the sometimes frenzied efforts of contestants to win, perhaps at the risk of their own health. Doctors, nutritionists and physiologists not affiliated with “The Biggest Loser” express doubt about the program’s regimen of severe caloric restriction and up to six hours a day of strenuous exercise, which cause contestants to sometimes lose more than 15 pounds a week. At least one other contestant has confessed to using dangerous weight-loss techniques, including self-induced dehydration. On the first episode of the current season, two contestants were sent to the hospital, one by airlift after collapsing from heat stroke during a one-mile race.
