And there you have it apparently. 4th of July and 17th of May are the most important;)

Well we have national saint's days- 23rd April for St George- but we don't do much on them; no real link to an event I guess. Some folk (usually those who want to make much more of St George's Day) want a Trafalgar Day.

September 15 is Guatemalan (and some other Central American countries) Independence Day (from Spain). My husband is Guatemalan so we always celebrate.

This is very scarey. CMS proposes disastrous new cuts to Medicare patients.

:( Is it a stretch to believe that other insurers would follow?
- Ladybug Heather
Most private insurance follows Medicare guidelines. Hospital can only give cash discount to level of Medicare/Medicaid payment. We had to work out a cash payment plan for our Amish community, the legal team went nuts when we attempted to offer lower cost.

Does anyone wear colored contacts? If you do - any particular brand that works well? Thinking about getting green or the enchanted style for something different. Have appointment in 2 weeks, would like to know first hand options/critisms.
A good day, hospital blocking software broken (yeah) so full FF. Call from boss, she is blocking my schedule over lunch so I can travel to hospital for work evaluation. Only 2% raise this year but I am at max for paygrade. This means the 2% will be calculated and converted to paid vacation time. Yes! Still did not use the 57 hours from last year...
No Bryce, this is above and beyond my 4 weeks a year. Would much rather have paid time off versus the 2% money.
- jlt-Janet
That's good that you received some kind of raise. We were told that because of the "bad economy" we would not be getting anything this year. So if the economy gets better next year I should receive double right? :) Not holding breathe for that one.

Thank you Haley crew!! I will be so crucified wearing a Cowboy's lanyard in Eagle land but I am soooooo looking forward to doing just that! I love driving one particular person crazy with this football madness :) Love the brown sugar scrub, handmade bookmark, postcards and note from the kids. You guys are the best!!!!!
Oh, btw, the bookmark is really a label for the friendship bracelet that Sarah made you. It's navy and white, the colors you said you liked. :) You tie it around your wrist and then keep wearing it until it falls off. OR you could use it as a bookmark. :)
- Trish Haley
Oops! Bracelet will be tied on tonight! Tell your daughter I am just a bit old and out of the loop of cool things ;)

Yes, I win the idiot award for today! Arrive at work for 7-12 shift to find out it is 7 this evening to midnight. I am living under a black cloud for certain. Ugh!
Okay, first picture has to be the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Reims, found a short note my grandfather jotted down of month/year/place of where my father was stationed. Did some searches for Reims and can identify the cathedral now off to figure out second picture.
- jlt-Janet
Yes, the first picture is Reims cathedral indeed. I went there two years ago and took pictures of the cathedral that exactly match yours. The second picture is very likely to be Nîmes arena (Les arènes de Nîmes) : http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki...
- Brome
Wasn't the second place used in the movie Ronin?
- Andrew Leyden
The second is the amphitheater in Nimes, but the actual pictures do not show the three arches over the gate. They added a third set of seating rows, which covers the arches: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...
- mr-mojo-risin
Thanks mr.-mojo. I was confused with the arch area and not seeing in newer pictures. Wow! I did find a few more of bullet peppered buildings, I assume the buildings are still standing. Will have to post those soon.

Wonder if the first guy flys in/out of the USA much ... metal detectors would have a field day with him
- johnpiercy
TSA guy " please sir remove all your face jewelery before scan " !!!
- johnpiercy
It would be fun to link them all with a strand of wire and then lead him around... I wonder if he would like that?

My step-father never dated my mother, he arrived on our doorstep one month after his divorce and his grown children stayed in Florida. He knew my late father and told my mother she had small children that needed a Dad. His plan was to raise us and they would part ways if they didn't fall in love. This was 44 years ago. Thanks Dad, you are the...
Wow! That is such a remarkable story. That's called destiny!!!
- Just2Stressed
Awesome. Thanks for sharing. It brought me to tears.
- Katie For Miss USA
Wow, awesome story. Kudos to your step father.
- imabonehead
OMG, that's an amazing story. Thanks for sharing!
- David Cook
Congrats to you for having such an amazing person in your life (and congrats to him for the chance to have two loving families).
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Falls under the category "There are still really cool guys around!" Thanks to your Dad for being a beacon to the rest of us.
- Bill Lunsford
Sounds like he also liked your mom, and won her through hard work and character instead of dating. Awesome
- Christian Burns
It does beg the question though. Is marriage about love or commitment? He made a commitment (and how) and just got on with it and out of that grew love on both sides.
- Anton Mannering
What a kind story. Nice that everything turns out like this.
- Ryo
@Janet: Awesomesauce!!! :-D @Anton, marriage is about commitment. Every day, we decide whether we continue to be committed to our partner or not. I certainly am not loving (or lovable!) every day, but every day I CHOOSE to be with my husband.
- Ladybug Heather
What a wonderful story! Your Dad is a great guy!
- vicster
That is really beautiful - duty, commitment, dedication and love. Wow. Thanks for sharing and I hope you had a great day :)

I have been invaded by needy, whiney, annoying and demeaning people load. I am trying to stay kind and patient but seriously, there must be a brain eating virus out there today. The test lasts 20 minutes yet you direct me to fluff pillows and whatnot as if you are on first class flight. *hangs head*
Get a credit deal with ATT through work, added a line in April for parents, bills are off the wall. Yes, added a nice 5.00 per month "insurance" fee x 3 months of which I did not ask nor sign for. Only giving me 20% off on two lines not the 24% on three. Retro due me so far 30.00 for three months of mess up. Now I have to watch my bill like a...
this totally falls in line with the bullshit i've experienced with them as well.

Really freaky thing happened, was on fftogo and tried to show a friend a link I had, link worked and I am now on friendfeed. Is this a new backdoor for ff social media blocking? Don't know, don't care, I like this format much better.
Hmm, no backdoor, opened another window and logged in old fashioned way. Either blocking software is down or not certain of this revelation. Need to see if I can get into twitter, ebay and flickr while I have chance...or search for new job if I am being monitored -eeeks

Ehn. It looks like most IT guys would rather check out salary or lay-off information than anyone's boring browser trail.

I just wasted 90 minutes of precious life watching this train wreck. So campy, so awful and not one recognizable actor :)

Had to search the archives to see when I had my cortisone shot in elbow. It lasted exactly six months and now the workouts are causing extreme elbow issues again. Seeing if I can get another miracle shot today. Back to just cardio and legs :( I want totally tricked guns by September!
Six months is good. They don't like to give these more than about 4 times a year. Hope it takes effect soon!
- Ladybug Heather
Can't wait for the next hip one, now if only the doctor shows up within an hour an a half of my appointment i might let him stick me. Arrggghhh
- Steve C
Alas, cortisone shots do nothing for me. :(

Guess what arrived! The candle is perfect and the scent of Patchouli is one of the best I have smelled in awhile. Typically the scent is a touch 'off' but this is the real and perfect fragrance I was hoping for. Thank you Kamilah!!!!

Do not mistakenly type www.firendfeed.com into your browser. :-o
Just add 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as the DNS servers in your home router and you're done. http://www.opendns.com for more info.
- Jason Huebel
Thanks Jason! I was a bit shocked at the homepage of my typo. eek.
- jlt-Janet
I mistype it as www.friedfeed.com all the time. :)

I was voted to be Parish Council seretary, I did not apply for this post. Working now two hours on last meeting notes. This is more difficult than being secretary for the Religious Education Program. Eek, I am only halfway through sorting notes and condensing them to easy understand format. I promised to be finished with them today.
That's what you get when you miss a church meeting. . . elected to a new office or committee. : )
- willjake
Sad thing I was there as a Council member, now new dispensation will have to be given for me as a voting member.Another council member kept kicking me when the topic of new secretary was being discussed as we both serve on the other ministry, I think I said an "ow" and they assumed I said "wow" and it went downhill from there ;-) Not liking web publication of my typed notes!
