"The Atlas of True Names reveals the etymological roots, or original meanings, of the familiar terms on today's maps of the World and Europe. For instance, where you would normally expect to see the Sahara indicated, the Atlas gives you "Sea of Sand", derived from Arab. es-sahra "desert, sea of sand."

Conversation with my 4 year old daughter.... Me: Look, there's the man who'll probably be the next president of America. He's casting his vote with his wife and daughters. Everyone thinks he'll win. Rebecca: Where are all their toys? Me: What?? Rebecca: I don't see their toys Me: No Rebecca, they're in a polling station not at home. I guess they didn't take any toys with them. Rebecca: Who will win the boat? Why can't I see them get on the boat? Me: What?? Rebecca: The boat. Who's going to win it? Me: I think you mean 'vote' dear Rebecca: No I don't. I mean 'boat'. Me: Erm. Fair enough.
