Le fil de discussion se remplit... ça commence à faire du monde!
- Patrice Lamothe

Pictured: The coyote who was hit by a car at 75mph, embedded in the fender, and dragged for 600 miles - and SURVIVED
| Mail Online - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news...
The poor thing. They didnt know they had a COYOTE in their CAR? You know they had to stop for gas. Idiots.
- The Archangel ωαřмaiden
Why did they keep driving? That's just fucked up.
- Mark Wilson
I love the fact that the coyote eventually escaped custody. BEST COYOTE EVAR!
- Mark Wilson
Well you figure...1am...pitch black...middle of nowhere...PACK OF COYOTES. No, they're not known to be vicious attackers, but honestly, you just don't know. I would not have stopped either. I don't need to be dicking with a dead animal at 1am in the middle of nowhere. And as far as not noticing until the end of their trip...it sounds like they were just trying to reach a destination as quickly as possible. They probably didn't think to bother checking for damage until they reached their destination.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
They were probably high on crack cocaine.
- Kittyburgers
It's funny you mention that, Amanda. I once hit a coyote in the middle of the night while driving through Colorado. I actually got out of my car in the pitch black and went looking for it. Serafin said I was crazy, but I couldn't stand the thought of an animal suffering on my account. I found him on the side of the road, apparently died on contact. Poor bugger. I felt quite horrible about it. All I can say is that I am so glad this coyote survived to live another day!
- Jenny R.
Ugh, how horrible! That is so unlike typical coyote behavior. They usually go out of their way to avoid us. I wonder if they had some sort of disease that affected their behavior? Poor girl...
- Jenny R.
I was thinking the same thing. Rabies perhaps? As far as stopping in the middle of the night for a struck animal, I'm not saying that *nobody* would ever do that. But calling these two people idiots and mocking them for not stopping or not knowing the animal was there until they arrived at their destination is just being mean. I was merely playing devil's advocate on their behalf.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I dont know. Maybe not stopping in the dark, but they refueled TWICE and didn't think to look at their car for damage? Hinky.
- The Archangel ωαřмaiden
As I said above, it sounds like they were looking to just drive straight through to their destination and most likely didn't really concern themselves with the condition of their vehicle at the time. If shit isn't making noise, then you tend to forget it happened. Get to a gas station, fuel up, use the loo, maybe grab a Red Bull, and then keep on going. Not to mention that it's...

- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I agree, A. I'm sure a lot of folks hit animals all the time and don't stop to check, especially in the middle o' the night. You know I am a bleeding heart, though. And kinda weird.
- Jenny R.
- Thierry Lhôte
Joe Biden and Michelle Obama in the back set - very funny. Go, go, go, America. :)
- jan geronimo
I don't think Clinton is in the front seat with Obama. More like he's got her tied up in the trunk. But this is cute.
- Dawn
I saw this done with Arsenal players a little over a year ago. Exact same scene, just different heads (Wenger, Fabregas, Adebayor and RvP, IIRC).
- Uche Ogbuji
The design hasn't changed, but there's two "Suggestion" boxes now and the "Live Feed" is actually realtime like FF is. No "3 new posts" buttons.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
The question is, are you going to friend Outsanity DC?
- Mike Nencetti
LOL.. Maybe. I really don't like friending people who don't use their real names on FB. It's kinda the point.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Some of my FB friends aren't seeing it (but I do, slow roll out?)..., but uh, I don't like it. I have way more people constantly doing things on Facebook and I definitely see myself missing a lot. Especially if things don't bubble back to the top when commented on like in Friendfeed.
- Clark Baumgartner
Do you still have the choice of any background theme you want as long as it's facebook blue?
- 1x29
I think the "News Feed" has the bubble back to the top functionality. I'm seeing older feeds from yesterday at the top of the list with newer comments
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
I'm still very irritated that there's so little activity in FB (at least interactive activity). When I say something over here in FF, the response is often *instant*. Everybody's too busy playing games and throwing sheep over there. Ugh.
- Kamilah Gill
I think it depends on the person and their group of friends. I get about the same number of likes/comments at FB as I get here. From different people, though.
- Spidra Webster
My experience is similar to Spidra's. It flip flops, though. Sometimes I get comments there but don't get any on FF, and vice versa. Also the types of comments are usually very different, as FB is populated with more of my RL friends and family. When I want a discussion, I come to FF.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
It does remind me of FF but still not as great. It doesn't seem to stick with the feed you choose unless I'm going crazy. Is there a setting for that? (or am I just crazy) edit: I think i'm just crazy
- Tamara
Ahh, I was wondering about that. I only checked it out during lunch and haven't been back. It definitely needs to "remember" the last setting I chose. I prefer the Live Feed and plan to only check "News Feed" every now and again
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
Only people i know like personally knows my real name... Which is my other account
-
I understand, I'm pretty picky about who I add to my FB despite everyone knowing my real name.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
Awesome. Functionality-wise, it's getting closer. The ability to bump a post was definitely something I wanted. Your experience on FB is definitely going to depend on who you've friended, and whether or not they like screwing around with pointless apps. And you can hide certain types of posts if you want.
- Victor Ganata
Also true. I've spent some time blocking apps and hiding notifications from others, so unless there is a new app I rarely see the App Spam anymore.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
It seems calm now, but I'm waiting for responses like Penguin's (although not sarcastic) from the lesser technology abled. It's going to be a noisy weekend for social media. :/
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
I have alot of my Facebook friends hating the new layout.
- Bryan Lee
CHANGE IS SCARY. People take this shit way too seriously. :D
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
And it's already begun. Just got a wall post from a RL friend asking how to "change it back." :/
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
I don't get it. All that's changed is a new button that shows "Live Feed" right?
- Bryan Lee
Sort of. The default "News Feed" is the new layout that bumps old posts to the top if they get new comments. "Live Feed" is the old display only with RT
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
The funny thing is Facebook bought Friendfeed cause they liked their features but I wonder if they thought about their users not liking the experience LoL
- Bryan Lee
God, the comments make me want to punch someone. "I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE ELSE IS UP TO, SWITCH IT BACK." "I HATE IT CHANGE IT BACK."
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
I selected Live Feed and it does not auto-update. I have to refresh the screen or leave and come back before it updates. I am using Firefox 3.5.2
- Paul L. McCord Jr.
I think only status updates/posts auto-update. I'm having to refresh to see new Likes and Comments. It was scrolling down just fine in Chromium on my work Mac.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
But what if you don't want to play mafia wars? Are you still allowed to use facebook?
- Thomas Hawk
from iPhone
Ditto wanting to punch someone for those comments, Sean. Or maybe unleash Mo's lasers on them. Mo?
- Kamilah Gill
I don't see what the big issue is that people are complaining so much on that post. Is it because I'm just used to it here?
- Tamara
Bryan, you have hit the nail on the head there. This is what they always do wrong! Not think about the users and what they want. Most of you admit that you don't use Facebook in either the same way as here OR have the same friends/contacts on here as there!
- Sandra Large
The users on Facebook will not like it at all. They are a different mindset to users on here. (most of which, and this is a compliment folks!) are Geeks. Facebook is primarily used by most as a means to keep in touch with close family and friends NOT as a discussion venue for every subject under the sun as FF is. It won't go down well with the majority on there...
- Sandra Large
And this 'ordinary/everyday' but slightly geeky Gran could have told them that before they did it all, but as usual, us users are never EVER consulted about what we would like an application or a site to be like. Then they wonder why users leave in droves.......*sigh*
- Sandra Large
Anyone actually seeing people whining in their status updates yet?
- Victor Ganata
Sandra: you absolutely right. I have geeky friends as well on facebook and when they saw the new look, they were in an uproar! I explained how it works and how its like friendfeed and they could care less.
- Bryan Lee
Here is a discussion on facebook that one of my buddies started as soon as he saw the updates. I've protected the names of the innocents :) http://bryansays.com/blog...
- Bryan Lee
My live feed is not live. :( Sadness. Sandra, in one way I agree with you, I'd kind of prefer they leave Facebook for family/friends and FriendFeed for public discussion/discovery, but with FriendFeed's team moving to Facebook, it looks more and more like we're going to have to get used to Facebook eventually. And in that case, I won't be happy until all of FriendFeed's functionality...

- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
"it looks more and more like we're going to have to get used to Facebook eventually" -- I simply will not move (my virtual connections) to Facebook. If that's the way it's going it will be a very sad time of severing a lot of great connections with a bunch of tremendous people.
- Jim Hearts FF
but...I don't wanna have bloody feet!
- WorldofHiglet
Now look what you've done, MG. You're scaring Higlet!
- Bruce Lewis
I noticed that my Hot Threads saved search mostly turn up non-english threads now, so there's definitely been an effect. That said, FriendFeed may be down but it ain't out yet.
- Ahsan Ali aka. Slick
MG, you're right about the FF infrastructure being on autopilot, but I would characterize the activity as a network of small towns - not a (monolithic) ghost town. Anyway, compared another article of late, you did the topic justice. :)
- Micah Wittman
MG: Don't be so fatalistic. FF is there, it's up to us, the users, what we make of it. Personally I like this place so much that I think I'll hang in here until the cleaning staff starts placing upturned chairs on the table and asking the last few customers to hurry up with their drinks.
- Paola Bonomo
i haveNEVER had one comment, but I got one like.I must be posting crap.I'll stop and change up.what's the deal here-the person who gets the most comments get JUST a mention on best of the week or day?
- R_ C
R_ C, step 1 is to make your feed public. I see a private feed and assume what's in it is none of my business unless I know you in real life.
- Bruce Lewis
My feed's public, but I've never gotten many comments. Still, I comment on others' posts a lot. FF's still here for me, so I'm still here. As for Posterous, it and FF complement each other. For me, FF is where Twitter, Facebook, Posterous, Blogger, and Google Reader come together in a single feed. So it's still important to me. I don't think it's so much "dead" as "alive and still dying"...
- Dennis Jernberg
Nice, but I think I woulda used the opportunity to pull out some REM "Cuyahoga" lyrics instead of taking the Madonna angle.
- Ken Sheppardson
liking this place wouldn't get all those tech talks we could have it would be more of a fun place now, memes going on and all that, a lot of geeks have moved on
- ffcode
Dennis: that it is an aggregator is the reason why it remains Scoble's homepage at twitter and the badges are still up at scobleizer :)
- ffcode
This makes me want to write an article about this. Friendfeed has a better interface to communicate, but people are spending their time on Facebook.
- Andrew
Andrew: i think the type of people facebook has can be attracted to ff if we have themes here and private msging be a prime feature
