Will the speaker list be up before tickets are on sale?
- James Britt
Yes - the presentation list will be up in the next day so. But you will want to come either way, right? The things you didn't know you would enjoy are the best part of Ignite! :)
- Jeff Moriarty
Tomas doesn't post as often as I'd like, but when he does it is almost always something I read and bookmark. Great site and great ideas.
- Jeff Moriarty
This is a great tech resource in the SE Valley. I've been down to Gangplank many times and it's an excellent collaborative atmosphere for new ideas.

Pit Bulls are some of the sweetest dogs around unless they're in the care of nasty humans.
- Jeff Moriarty
Indeed, Jeff is on to something profound. I don't know that I can quite put my finger on it... (sarcasm/irony is optional).

No link yet, but I will definitely be talking about it when it's done. We have a few more segments to shoot (OS install, apps, possible uses for it, etc.).
- Josh Bancroft
Can't wait to see it! Had several people ask me how hard an Atom PC would be to assemble.
- Jeff Moriarty
Bumping to see if the video's available yet. :)
- Cheryl Jones
Aaaargh.....I need...need.... an Everun Note. When you've got a moment, Steve, could you post some more porn. please (sundry videos of the Everun doing anything at all). :-)
- Mark
and then we have the legal battle between psystar and apple...

Gah! Then I'm *NOT* jealous you even have one! Where can I get a Wind in the US to *NOT* try such crazy things on?
- Jeff Moriarty
Jeff, I nabbed my MSI Wind with 6-cell battery at Dynamism. Price was at the high end of the range for this device, $599, but there's not much supply out there.
- Kevin C. Tofel
kevin there is an msi tuned dl out there. not sure if you found it yet. got mine on friday, went very smooth, I had the 120gig drive and it was partitioned in two parts so I just had osX take over the second partition. After install you just have to run xp recover and run a mbr command and then you can boot back into xp when needed. waiting for a replacement airport card so wifi works in both easily
- joey
Thx Joey. I haven't been using a build specific to the Wind, but I'll dig around. WiFi always seems to be missing from these, which is a pain, but I end up using an EV-DO card in place of WiFi for that issue. A terrible solution, but it works!
- Kevin C. Tofel
If it doesn't work you can call it the BreakWind. :)
- James Kendrick
Ton of interesting under-the-covers stuff to play with in Chrome. Can't wait to play with them all. about:internets is still the best. :-)
- Josh Bancroft
Google should just make an about:about page to list all these about pages.
- Jeff Moriarty
specs aren't that good but brand sells ;)
- jkkmobile
Jeff, I think we'll definitely want one of each (a Wind and a Dell) for our little shootout. If you're talking about for yourself, I'm going to wait and see how the Lenovo/Wind/Dell throwdown pans out. And I'm secretly holding out hope that HP will make an Atom-based version of their 2133 Mini-note. The 1280x720 screen and full size keyboard on that unit are to DIE for. The Via processor, not so much. :-)
- Josh Bancroft
I have concerns about the keyboard, too. It's an 8.9" screen, so it's going to have a small keyboard, a la the Eee PC 901 (smaller than the Wind). And they omitted the Function key row, making them secondary keys along the home row (Fn+D = F3, etc.). But there's no F11, which is the full screen toggle for most web browsers (and being able to put your browser fullscreen on a netbook is vital).
- Josh Bancroft
I'm with JKK. It may not be the best but it's top-quartile and comes with Dell branding and purchase comfort. Thats the USP.
- Steve 'Chippy' Paine
Wow Indeed. I think the Iron Sheik will come out of retirement just so he can also slam a folding chair on someone. This will be a real test of character. Now if only McCain will go on Countdown. . . .
- Peter Ghosh
Seriously looking forward to this. Wonder if O'Reilly will end up yelling?
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Take your opponents head on by canceling your CNN interview.
- Shawn Farner
Interesting. While his opponent is turning down CNN Obama is going straight into the lion's den. If he survives this will be brilliant political move.
- Robert Scoble
I heard you and Winer were approached for Big Brother 11
- loren feldman
Obama appearing on O'Reilly may not be a wise move, but it would actually get me the watch the show.
- Jeff Moriarty
Hillary was on O'Reilly when Obama refused during the primary, nobody gushed at her 'bravery' at that point or his inability to 'face the lions'.
- Kyle
O'Reilly is a blow-hard, but I really hope he gets Obama off script and answering some real questions. Without a teleprompter.
- David Risley
Who wants tobet that OReilly is forced off script first before Obama?
- Fred Grott
Vincent why can't it be that we preferred Obama?
- R. Ferguson
I just can't wait to watch O'Reilly go apeshit while Obama just sits there with a patient smile.
- ::Kristen::
Unfortunately, all this appearance will do is legitimize O'Reilly as a valid media outlet. In the long run, it may end up doing more harm than good, regardless of how Obama performs.
- Nathaniel Payne
Who has been more oppressed in this country between blacks and women? Black women. They get the shaft times 2.
- Alex Scoble
Ahh, Vincent. Always stirring the pot.
- ::Kristen::
Vincent LOL: 1st I misunderstood your comment, I thought you were referring to anyone. but for the record , yes I do work for the media. But don't worry we are not big enough to matter...LOL. for the record it is killing me to put McCain on page 1 this week...but try to have some semblance of fairness. Including a story few months ago on our local African American Republican Club.
- R. Ferguson
Chrome could help UMPCs with low processing power to run AJAX apps more fluidly. But in my tests, Google Reader is still quicker on Firefox 3.

It will be interesting to see how light they can keep Chrome as they port it to Linux/OS X and feature demands pile up

Go to Friendfeed where the abillity to put people in lists on beta.friendfeed.com will have you hooked!
- Steve 'Chippy' Paine
I've got a feeling this beta will finally win me over to FriendFeed.
- Jeff Moriarty
The thing that finally pulled me into FriendFeed a few months ago, after having tried it and said "meh" was when I noticed that my stuff (blog posts, tweets, whatever) were getting MORE comments, conversation, and interaction on FF than they were in their original location. That was enough to earn it a spot in my "big three" tools that I use all the time (the other two being Google Reader and Twitter - email is so ubiquitous as to not count). Have fun with it! :-)
