so im wondering...If Intel's core OS for mids (Moblin) is delayed by a year as we found out today and as Intel are members of the OHA, and as Android has a MID setup, will they do what many of us have already suggested and use Android on Atom?
Apparently Intel are announcing a new Moblin partner at MWC. Will it be Google? - Steve 'Chippy' Paine
time will tell, i guess. tho i find it somewhat unlikely... - turn.self.off

Just got done shooting video of building an Atom-based PC for less than $250 with Mike and @jerry_makare. Good times! :-)
Link to video? - Cheryl Jones
No link yet, but I will definitely be talking about it when it's done. We have a few more segments to shoot (OS install, apps, possible uses for it, etc.). - Josh Bancroft
Can't wait to see it! Had several people ask me how hard an Atom PC would be to assemble. - Jeff Moriarty
Bumping to see if the video's available yet. :) - Cheryl Jones
not yet, but soon! :-) - Josh Bancroft
Bump from me too! - Steve 'Chippy' Paine

Say Anything... (1989) - http://www.imdb.com/title...
Say Anything... (1989)
This movie is perfect on so many levels. From having "Cult of Personality" blaring in the background at the house-party, to the whole keymaster thing to sitting alone at a Gas-n-Sip on a Saturday night, this film manages to tap into the pop culture of its time, yet remain relevant today. Lloyd Dobler is the unsung hero, a teenager unsure what to do with his life, who always hid behind his wit when it came to love, until he finally decides to go for it, and go for it big. He asks out the class valedictorian, who is arguably one of the prettiest girls in the school, fully expecting her to decline. But she says yes. This film makes me laugh hard and cry. It moves me no matter how many times I see it. Heartache, pain, triumph, forgiveness, and laughter are what make it one of my favorite movies. - Josh Haley from Bookmarklet
My boss this summer loves this movie, kept recommending it to me. Maybe it's time to give in. - Shawn Farner
John Cusack really does make a lot of often smaller but usually great films. - abacab
One of my favorite movies ever. Perfect in so many ways. - ThisGuyDoug
Yes, Shawn and Lindsey...it is time. Buy it, rent it, download it, just get it. - Josh Haley
"Check out Lloyd, all null and void" - Josh Haley
On the alltime favorites list, without doubt. - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Right on, Mark. Yeah, the dialog and the monologues are just so amazing. "I don't want to buy anything processed or sold, sell anything bought or processed, or process anything bought or sold." or "Kickboxing, the sport of the future. Heard of it? I can see by your face, no." Enjoy, bro. - Josh Haley

Thanks for the links! This is going to be a very interesting market. Do you know of any corps using these things? - Rafe Needleman from twhirl
Ill find out Rafe. You and me both want to know! Let's agree to stay in touch about this. Ok? - Jeremiah Owyang
I updated the post - Jeremiah Owyang
Posted in comments on this url as well: I’m a proverbial n00b to social media, but I have worked in IT for over a decade now… I’m interested as to how this benefits a corporation in your opinion(s) as opposed to newsgroups, wiki’s, KB’s, IM, and SaaS PM offerings? In other words, if Twitter is an indication of distraction, would not corporate micro-blogging be the same? - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
Great list Jeremiah - I think I may share a few of these in my presentation on Wed. (presenting to a group of CIOs in Dallas) - Jesse Stay
Yeah, let me know. I generally hate running case studies on Webware, but this might be a good time to break the rule. - Rafe Needleman from twhirl

I am *NOT* installing Mac OS X on my MSI Wind netbook right now. Really, I'm not! [OK... maybe I *am*... but don't tell anyone!]
Should I do it on the Everun Note? How? Would be my first Mac device ever! - Steve 'Chippy' Paine
I was just considering picking one up tomorrow to do the same. A Windbook? I like the name. Or litebook!? - Andrew Forde

Gah! Then I'm *NOT* jealous you even have one! Where can I get a Wind in the US to *NOT* try such crazy things on? - Jeff Moriarty
Jeff, I nabbed my MSI Wind with 6-cell battery at Dynamism. Price was at the high end of the range for this device, $599, but there's not much supply out there. - Kevin C. Tofel
kevin there is an msi tuned dl out there. not sure if you found it yet. got mine on friday, went very smooth, I had the 120gig drive and it was partitioned in two parts so I just had osX take over the second partition. After install you just have to run xp recover and run a mbr command and then you can boot back into xp when needed. waiting for a replacement airport card so wifi works in both easily - joey
Thx Joey. I haven't been using a build specific to the Wind, but I'll dig around. WiFi always seems to be missing from these, which is a pain, but I end up using an EV-DO card in place of WiFi for that issue. A terrible solution, but it works! - Kevin C. Tofel
If it doesn't work you can call it the BreakWind. :) - James Kendrick

At Powell's, working with the Eee PC 901. After 1.5 hours, battery is still at 83%. I freaking love that little Intel Atom chip! :-)

Update: 2 hours of use (wifi on, reading feeds, etc.), battery at 73%. - Josh Bancroft
These netbooks are teaching people about what they really need in a PC. Lightweight, battery life, just enough processing power. Whatever Intel says, it WILL hurt consumer notebook sales going into the next 5 years. - Steve 'Chippy' Paine

Three reasons why the Kindle is a success - http://www.mediabistro.com/mobiled...
Huh? I just completely disagree. Content: still thin, virtually no backlist. Ubiquity: only on Kindle, DRM. Price: ~$400 and $10 > used book. - AJ Kohn
have a look at Stanza for iPod/iPhone. Over the air free ebook download. For novels, ie that don't have complicated layout, this is the killer device. Kindle etc is too expensive to go mainstream and is yet another device to carry. - Ian Fogg

OK, customer support from Zappos RULES. Every other company should take notes.
What is Zappos? - Mattb4rd
They're really stellar. I ordered boots that had a scuff on them, and so they've sent me a replacement with overnight shipping and a coupon for my next order! Plus, they're having the warehouse check the next boots to make sure they're not scuffed too. Awesome. And this was all over Live Chat! - Veronica
Zappos is great. I ordered some sandals, wore them for about 2 months and then they started to literally fall apart, the seams just stopped staying together, they let me return them even though they were not in resellable condition and replaced them with a new pair (that i eventually had to return because it didn't fit) Just his week I ordered Ugg Walleys and the first pair was twoo small so they overnighted me the next pair. I love Zappos, it seems I get upgraded expedited shipping everytime. - Andrew Fielding
I love Zappos service!! They make it so easy to buy and return items that don't fit or that you decide you do not want. Every other on line vendor should take note. - Jeff P. Henderson
This all sounds great from the customers' point-of-view, but I wonder if it's good for business. Clearly they lost a lot of money on Andrew Fielding. - Leo Laporte
@Leo, their stuff is kind of expensive - at least full retail price, and considering they don't have to pay retail store rent, they are probably doing OK. - Laura Norvig
I agree. I just bought a pair of Asics Gel-140 TR for my gym workouts. The sneakers were at my door the next day. Zappos is the main place I go to buy all of my sneakers and shoes. - AskMac from twhirl
Leo, they actually have now made money off of me. I've posted about how awesome they are on my blog and have ordered expensive shoes from them as well as signed up for their Credit Card with Chase bank. That one act of customer service has made me a loyal customer for life. - Andrew Fielding
If their business model was not profitable, I'm sure they would have changed it by now. Seems like treating the customer well is almost always a good business plan. - Jeff P. Henderson
