Why 2013 Is Not the Year of Mobile! — B2B Digital Marketing - http://b2bdigital.net/2013...
This post brings out the reality that B2B marketers use the term "mobile marketing" but is it really mobile marketing or mobile tactics applied to an overall B2B marcom mix - Joan Damico

"I've had a similar experience with B2B industrial clients as Ian mentions. Video is more useful in B2B industrial settings because often industrial applications represent an integrated, but single component of a much larger product. For example RFID chips and scanners are part of a much larger system, which can differ within the verticals these B2B industrial marketers serve. A video, shot on location, makes it easier to get your message across and with greater clarity. Video also complements other media such as a written white paper or trade journal article. For one client, an investment of about US 8K- 10K yielded several leads and led to two sales both of which far exceeded the cost to produce the video. Social media makes video sharing much easier." - Joan Damico

The Native Advertising Trend: Hot or Hoax? - http://www.businessesgrow.com/2013...
More on native advertising. Does it compromise trust in B2B brands and content? - Joan Damico

Before we B2B marketers get carried away with another marketing buzzword -- native advertising -- let's figure out what it really is. I think it's a fancy word for "advertorial." Cloaking content in its native plaform albeit blog, white paper, etc. to make it seem less like advertising and more like helpful content. ;-) It has its place in the B2B marcom mix but let's call it what it is. - Joan Damico

Re: The Native Advertising Trend: Hot or Hoax? - http://www.businessesgrow.com/2013...
"Good post, Neicole. "Native advertising" reminds of the old "advertorial" concept in print media—what appeared to be an article with a very small and faint "advertisement" printed at the top or bottom of the ad. To me native, advertising is the same thing. You're right, it's gaining in popularity, but when you consider what some of the commenters mention, native advertising can erode trust. Are influential bloggers and brands willing to compromise trust… once considered the "currency of the digital world?" As the push for more content grows, so too does the volume of less-than-quality content. Speaking as a B2B copywriter whose been asked to write "cheap content," (and refused), I agree that people may become more willing to pay for content that's well-written and provides unique insights. Take a look at some of the larger publications such as WSJ, and you'll see that they're charging for some of their content. I've been seeing more of this in the tech world. Perhaps the "monetization..." - Joan Damico

Re: How Many Social Media Channels Should Your Brand Be Using? - http://www.jeffbullas.com/2009...
"Good post, Jeff. When I look at the amount of resources many of the larger companies you mention are assigning to social media, I can't help but think that my clients in the mid-size B2B tech and industrial sector just don't have that level of support. I think 2013 may just be the year marketers focus on shaving the list of social media channels down to a manageable number to which they can adequately support. In some cases that may simply be a blog alone and perhaps even a LinkedIn company page or group. As with any marcom channel, pick a few that work, do them well and then re-evaluate." - Joan Damico

"Good points, Jeremiah.  It's nearly impossible to enable colleagues without a policy and basic education. And education must be ongoing as social media permeates the enterprise.  I've seen regular updates on a quarterly basis that cover basic rules, regulations and how to's and also provide a forum for enterprise teams to share how they're successfully applying social media." - Joan Damico
