"It's true, whether it's intentional or not, Moms have long been comedy gold. (Remember Amy's Answering Machine?) I can't wait for my own daughter to start cracking up at the stuff I do--it's a time-honored family tradition. (Surprisingly, I can't say the same about prison.)"

"The folks over at Planned Parenthood should get in touch with the anti-meth advertising agency. A lot of these pictures remind me a lot of myself during my first few months of motherhood."

"John, the first thing I like to do when trying to convince the boss that SM is valuable is remind him that we're not talking about S & M. Often this is difficult, given that he's usually wearing a leather hood and studded thong, except on Fridays, which is Hawaiian shirt day. (I like to wear mine with assless pants.) What I want to know is: is there any reason I should care about the numbers of people I'm connected to, or should I focus solely on quality? How does one separate her own identity in the SM space from the company's, or should she?"

"Besides the charitable donations Squidoo makes on behalf of its contributors, I agree; there is a dearth of reward for the good stuff people do online. I learned about the Booyah app today (http://tinyurl.com/mb3gtk), which lets you share your achievements with others, but that's closer to self-congratulation than anything."

Do you have an elevator pitch for FF yet? I can explain it, but it has so many cool things I feel like my 6 year old daughter on Cherry Coke and Pop Rocks trying to explain.
- Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
I'd be interested in your elevator pitch, too, Eric!
- WorldofHiglet
You should see the amount of stuff I sent after the initial introduction. Included a list of active feeders, some good groups, links to Louis Gray's top 10 lists, FFundercats episode 25, and Robert Scoble's video. It might have been a bit much :)
- Eric @ CS Techcast
Ken, the elevator pitch is easy "You feed in the stuff you do and see all over the web. Other people do the same. Then you all get together and talk about the stuff you're doing and seeing." Until someone sees it though it doesn't make that much sense..

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all the welcomes. This is awesome. I'm pretty excited about being able to keep up with all the blogs I watch in one place. Very cool.

This time last year (various days this week), my best friend found out she had a rare form of cancer, was admitted into the hospital, and never went home. She died two months later. I cannot believe it's almost been a year. :-(
Thanks, I think I'm feeling down because I had another good friend die during the time I was dealing with my friend's cancer diagnosis. I'm just feeling sentimental about losing two very special people so close together. :-) http://lonesophist.com/jane...
- Trish R
Thanks for all the comments. I was surprised this week to realize a year has passed already. Where does the time go?
- Trish R
I'm sorry Trish. That would be difficult to go through.
- Anika
There's just something about the "was admitted and never went home" part that's especially hard to swallow.
- Jody Reale
Yeah, Jody that was difficult for everyone. She went to the ER one night, spent two weeks in the hospital and then went immediately into hospice care.
- Trish R
Sorry, Trish. Thanks for sharing with us, hon.
- Derrick
Sorry to hear about your friend, Trish. :(
- Alex Scoble
Trish, I am so sorry for the loss. My Babcia (grandmother in Polish) went through the same thing when she had pancreatic cancer. We were lucky to have a hospital only a block away from her house, so she could feel near to where she really belonged, yet, like your good friend, she never went home after being admitted. I thank God everyday for giving her 8 weeks rather than the 2 weeks the doctors gave. Bless you, Babcia and your best friend!
- Michael Forian
The time and remembrance can sneak up and gobsmack. I'm so sorry. Hugs, Trish.
- Maria Niles
Yeah, I guess people don't really get it unless they've lost someone close to them. I've brought it up to a couple of friends and they just ignore me or change the subject like I should just get over it. And these two friends who died are the ones who I would call to complain about being treated that way. So it's like a little circle of reminders. :-(

"That's about the best anniversary gift ever. I've read other entries that mention this little girl you cared for, and it gets me every time. I always wonder, are you ever going to tell us more?"
- Jody Reale
We knew it was coming because he had been diagnosed since early last year. All due to his heavy smoking. Anyway, not looking for anything, just sharing.
- Eric @ CS Techcast
Thanks all for the well wishes. I didn't ask details, but he's been in bed attached to Oxygen for a while now. Kept smoking though; he just couldn't stop. We were expecting this since last spring, so I was suprised he made it to this year. Anyway, thanks again.
