If I walked into a restroom that looked like Mick Jagger lips were hanging off the walls I think I'd just turn around and keep going - JohnBfromMemphis

I would be fearful to let my "oh boy" just dangle in between those swollen red lips. I mean, what if those teeth came crashing down!!? - Terence Washington
For God sake, never have a show without John again. He keeps you guys on topic and on a flow. That and put a muzzle on Calacanis. - Steve Gillette

Yeah right never do a show w/o Dvorak ever again ... yeah right the traffice that TWiT itself brings I don't think Leo will just skip a week to suit you - JohnBfromMemphis

I totally disagree, Steve. I like the fact that the shows go different ways with different panelists. a Dvorak show is a Dvorak show (though he'll even ramble about wine, etc.) A Calacanis show (aside from 57) is just a nice change of pace. - todd
I'm not saying I don't like the change, it's very welcome. Sometimes, it's just over the top, this was one of those weeks. Sometimes when Calacanis is on, it just seems like it's This Week in Calacanis. - Steve Gillette

I actually liked this weeks TWiT just as good as any other the discussion was very interesting all the way through... - Chris Heath

I really liked this weeks show. The discussion on tech and the Presidency was great! - Mike
I enjoyed it too. I agreed with Patrick though about Obama twittering as the President. I thought of it as more of a campaign tool than something he would keep doing forever. Now that he's won, I think he's probably done with Twitter. - John Massaglia
This is news for me that any "applicant to the staff at the white house to list (and if possible provide copies of) all posts and comments made on all blogs and websites as well as names and nicknames ever used". First: what 20+ year old can do that nowadays? Second: Shouldn't this rule change so as to adjust to today's tools and not risk turning down technology savvy applicants? - lelapin
MY favourites are the shows WITH Calacanis - really smart guy... - cyberjack
Absolutely, negative thinking got us here, positive thinking and risk taking will get us out - Daltonsbriefs

quitting smoking feels like hell for a few days, but is a positive .. this is an entire culture quitting smoking, is a hugely positive thing, and an opportunity for seesmic and others to get smart ... thankfully now he has a different attitude than when he was feeling fearful a couple of months ago - Gregory Lent
Songbird is an open-source customizable music player that's under active development. We're working on creating a non-proprietary, cross platform, extensible tool that will help enable new ways to playback, manage, and discover music. There are lots of ways to contribute your time to the project. We'd love your help! There are several features we're proud of, but we'll be the first to admit that others need ironing out, are experimental, or are just plain missing. There's still a lot to do. - JohnBfromMemphis
Google Talk, Google’s messaging and VOIP application, is now Video enabled with a new plug-in from Festoon. Using the video plug-in, Google Talk users can now see who they are talking to, in real time. The English-language Press TV said the Iranian-made missile, named as the Samen, was successfully tested on Monday by the elite Revolutionary Guards in the western border city of Marivan. They also tested artillery and rocket launchers, Press TV said on its website. Iran's armed forces have staged frequent manoeuvres in recent months, coinciding with speculation of possible US or Israeli strikes against the Islamic Republic over its disputed nuclear ambitions. - JohnBfromMemphis
[Aaron] sent us this sweet Super Nintendo Clock that he built. When he found himself with a broken SNES, a friend challenged him to out do his previous NES clock. This time, the display would be located in the cartridge, and removable. Setting the time is done on the SNES controller and seems to work pretty well as you can see in the video after the break. - JohnBfromMemphis
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Salmonella-contaminated dry pet food sickened at least 79 people, including many young children, and could still be dangerous, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Thursday. - JohnBfromMemphis
Joseph Cannon Cannonfire November 8, 2008 In all fairness, we can’t really call Obama’s proposed national service plan a new draft. First, he’s not talking about requiring young people to do military service. Second, we are getting decidedly mixed signals as to whether the service will be compulsory. At first, the word "required" was used freely; now we see much talk of tax credits, less talk of requirement. Nevertheless, this new program certainly feels like the next step toward a new draft. Just as Ike’s planners made sure that the national highway system could see usage as a military transport system, Obama’s civilian service corps could make mustering a draft army much, much easier. After all, this is the guy who said (vis-a-vis the establishment of ROTC programs on all college campuses): - JohnBfromMemphis
TO most people, the thought of amputating a perfectly healthy limb is unimaginable. But for at least three Australians, possibly dozens more, cutting off their leg has felt perfectly normal. These so-called "amputee wannabes" have a very rare condition in which they feel one of their limbs is not truly their own, and they become obsessed with cutting it off. And people suffering from the bizarre body image disorder should be able to opt for amputation, a Sydney psychiatrist says. Christopher Ryan, a psychiatrist at the University of Sydney, says there is a good argument for allowing patients with body integrity identity disorder (BIID) to have their unwanted limb removed. "I am not saying we should unthinkingly cut off people's legs," Dr Ryan said. "I realise that the idea strikes almost everyone as lunatic when they first hear it. However, there are a small number of people who see themselves, and have always seen themselves, as amputees," he said. - JohnBfromMemphis

If you ever get tired of flipping back and forth between two browser windows or tabs when what you really want to do is be able to read two articles at once, (or read one article while composing a blog post or email in another window), there's a Firefox plugin called Split Browser that can help. But what if you're not using Firefox? What if you're using a browser like Google Chrome, which doesn't even support plugins? Then you can use a Javascript bookmarklet called Google Chrome Dual View. Just drag the bookmarklet to your bookmark toolbar and when you hit the button Google Chrome will ask you to input two web addresses. It will then open them up side by side in a single browser tab. - JohnBfromMemphis

<Yahoo> Make us another offer! <Microsoft> Ok, how about 20% of what we offered last time? Only this time, you have to promise to rewrite everything to run on Windows Azure. ;-) - Joel Bennett
Yahoo is so yesterday. Microsoft needs to do something forward thinking and big. If they are going to spend money, they should buy up and consolidate all these VoIP companies including Vonage. Then, integrate VoIP into windows, including windows mobile, and create a seamless communications platform that is affordable for everyone worldwide. When it comes to recurring revenue, this might be more profitable than software subscriptions or web based services. - Mike Thompson

Nah, there's plenty of competition for voice service; all the big boys- AT&T, Verizon, Time Warner, Comcast, they all have the triple or quad play now. Integration with windows is competitive advantage, sure, but not anti-competitive. - Mike Thompson
