I am a librarian. I help college students find stuff. @oajoe Opinions my own. I got my sense of humor from my Dad. Blame him.

.@sara_ackerson @laurapasquini @NYDailyNews @leezbtv @cjflynn74 @JustinBrannan That score of 20-14 is just plain wrong.
Some nationally known sports reporter referred to the Washington Wizards as the Washington Bullets. They have not been the bullets since like 1995.
The change was in 1997. - Joe
Here is a google search that finds nothing!...
Pres. Obama is going to be on YouTube in a couple of minutes. The comments (chat) on the right side are "interesting". https://www.youtube.com/watch...

This chemistry journal was used over 160 times in 2014! But, it is still over $50 per use when using the list price of the journal. The current use of the journal covers a 17 year time span, so that is not just use of the current year. The library has been spending lots more money to build those years of content.

I am sorry, but Whitney Houston is still dead.
Why don't we tell people our phone numbers as numbers? My phone number is 3 billion, 39 million, XYZ thousand and ...
7 billion, 44 million, 515 thousand, 4 hundred eighty something. - Mike Nencetti
When a retail place asks for our phone number, I want to tell them our number this way. - Joe
I also know the trombone cows guy, and I amaze my wife!
Kittens in a Blender is a board game. 6/10 I guess. Anyone ever play it?
Yay--Sandy and Kevin are in a pissing contest over copyright stuff in a discussion list. I am guessing another 10 messages will be generated from this. I put my money on Kevin winning the fight.
Nah. Winning the fight would assume that Sandy would admit defeat and that will never. ever. happen. (I could be wrong, but I doubt it.) - Walt Crawford
Most days I wish I wasn't on the list. Today is not one of those days. Espo chimed in too, did you see? - Marie
Is there a link to the archives where the rest of us can follow this? - John Dupuis
see Marie's LSW thread - RepoRat
Thanks! Of course, it doesn't take our friend Sandy very long to mention his former career as publisher at a UP. There should be some sort of bingo/drinking game for Sandy Thatcher comments. - John Dupuis
And, uh, Sue the Internet! - John Dupuis
Speaking of Sandy's former career, I see that Kevin made a point of Sandy's formerly being on the CCC board. Not that that's a *bad* thing, mind... - Walt Crawford

Search the "CIA Family Jewels Indexed"- this is a freely accessible, searchable subject index created by the National Security Archive and available on the DNSA site. Hmmmmmm.
My accidental search on "standard and poo" worked!
seems appropriate. - ellbeecee
I want you all to know that I am committed to building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world.
Been listening to NPR, huh? - COMPLICATED MR. NOODLE from WinForFeed
Joseph R., John T., and Catherine D. - Marie
I was thinking that I have not heard anyone use the word verdant in a sentence in like forever. Then, reading a book this morning, the author uses verdant. Maybe I should read more. - Joe
On a whim, I just tried to visit their website at "macfound.org". Sadly, it doesn't work, unless you put the "www." in front of it. - COMPLICATED MR. NOODLE
that is a big pet peeve of mine (the www thing) and, sadly, typical of foundations and smaller nonprofits. - Laura Norvig
The last time I looked (maybe 15 years ago) there were annoying technical reasons (dns and cookies) to favor putting the website at www.herp.derp instead of at herp.derp :-( - Amit Patel
I worked for a restaurant, for a spell, that served a burger called "The Verdant Angel". The owner/manager wore a cocktail dress during lunch hour. - Brent Schaus from iPhone
but Amit, isn't it relatively easy to have some kind of mirror or redirect so that both URLs work? - Laura Norvig
Sure, web servers redirect both address forms to the same backend code. At one time the www was needed so it wouldn't conflict with other services like smtp.herp.derp on the same box, but that's long past. - Todd Hoff
