The Great Google Wave invite thread. Anyone who wants an invite post your Gmail address here and anyone who has invites available please use to invite the people on this list. There are also a bunch of requests in the Invites group here: http://friendfeed.com/invites
I have a few but holding them for a few people who have already asked me. I'm at kolint [at] googlewave [dot] com btw. A pain I know but if you can, could you update your comment when you have an account or just delete your comment. Ta! :-) EDIT: Try this site for invites: http://googlewaveinvites.com/
- Kol Tregaskes
Are people on this list getting invites or at least been told they have an invite on the way? You might have to be patient, it could take a long time for one to come through.
- Kol Tregaskes
Adam, yep agree. Maybe because I did that (month ago though) helped me get mine through from Vijay so quickly!
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol, the invitation process seems to be based on nominations. For example, everytime someone nominates/invites you, you get bumped up the queue for an account until you're at the top and you get sent an invite by the team
- Ysabel Legaspi
Ysabel, ah I see, So lots of people must have nominated me. Darn, so a few users I have nominated could be waiting a looooong time. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
if that voting system is right I'm very annoyed. I asked for an invite months ago, now all the numpties are all over it I'm not going to get a look in. It's like I've been sat at the front of a shop queue and everyone's just walking right past me into the shop. I am British but I detest both queuing and waiting, so this is pretty tough going
- Toby Graham
Like most other people, yesterday I wasn't aware of that I «needed» a Google Wave invitation this badly...but now I am!!! quackofdawn at gmail dot com

How does anyone know if someone has already been invited? You could go back and edit your comment when you receive an invitation, but since that takes days, it could be ages before you know.

“The rumor I received today says that Nikon is manufacturing the X1 model for Leica (or at least parts of it) and that the Nikon version will have the same sensor as in the D300. Not sure yet whether it will have video recording capabilities (the Leica X1 doesn’t). The source mentioned also that the camera may have a swivel display or look even something like the old Nikon Coolpix 995...”

2nd day post workout is always my worst. Hate that. I did glutes and quads on Friday, hating life today. It progressively gets better though, next week won't be as bad as this one. Hang in there.

Yeah, I don't care how many people take pictures of themselves in the shower, I'm not gonna join in that memefest. No thank you. Besides you've already seen my brother in the shower...Remove some weight, adjust the nose a bit and you've got me too...ugh...that's just so wrong.
- Alex Scoble
Tina: I hope they don't do a shower meme. I'm not going to take a picture of myself in the shower, no matter how drunk you get me. *lol*
- Mol, Santa Claws
Is this your entry for the bitch face meme? It's a very disappointingly happy bitch face.

This is a dollar bill taped to the floor of FriendFeed's headquarters. It's a bit of social engineering. They figured out it kept people from tripping on the cord cover because people noticed the money on the floor.
- Robert Scoble
The dollar bill trick doesn’t work with strippers though ;)
- Moved to Facebook
@Earl: Consider it a stripper-filter, then. You know someone's a stripper if they trip over it.
- April Buchheit
for some reason i expect a "stripper filter" to be something coded using regular expressions. sad, i know.

The message here is that Web 2.0 companies are so ignorant of money and revenue that they even step over a dollar on the floor

I forgot about that photo. It does work, though. Everytime I visit friendfeed's offices I see the dollar and I'm careful not to trip over it. :-)
- Robert Scoble
That's dumb. Why couldn't they afford to run the cord somewhere where it wouldn't be in the way in the first place?
- Robert Peña
As an IE I can state that's definitely not something to publicize. Definitely not OSHA Kosher.

Reminds me of the deli counter in grocery store in Scotts Valley across the street from NorCal offices of MetaCreations (the Fractal Design arm of it). Local companies'd go there for lunch daily. PROBLEM: Deli counter pencils (for marking your sandwich menu) disappeared at frightful rate. SOLUTION: Deli affixed pencils with price label. Price: $100.00. Pencils stayed at store. :)

What amazes me, though, is that I even get dropped off of EDGE - and down to GPRS - a significant amount of the time. That's just insanity.
- Anthony Citrano
Welcome to my world Anthony. I hate AT&T for just this reason (and a couple others). I'm in the Bay Area, btw.
- Chieze Okoye
Here in Venice (covered entirely on the ATT service map with the warm comforting orange blanket of 3G service), I get 3G about 20% of the time. I get EDGE about 50% of the time. I get GPRS the other 30%. Driving over to Santa Monica many times I've watched the phone. Same or worse.
- Anthony Citrano
I honestly don't get how people have been duped into this weird belief that AT&T actually has a good network. They don't. It's atrocious. Either of the two major CDMA networks is more reliable than AT&T by a large margin. Even Sprint (which is, at this point, stuck in a public perception black hole).
- Chieze Okoye
I've been broken down to the point where I am actually turning 3G off on my iPhone; it seems like the only way I can have a decent phone conversation with anyone. I made a few calls yesterday while driving in Santa Monica and people could barely hear me, if at all. Still getting 3G almost never; EDGE much of the time; GPRS more than 3G.
- Anthony Citrano
Also I changed the numbers in my connection stats above because of this recurring odd behavior: I'll see the "E" icon on the screen which supposedly means I have EDGE service. But as soon as I initiate a call the "E" turns off, meaning I have dropped down to GPRS. Truly stunning fail.
- Anthony Citrano
Look on dslreports.com, ALL of the fastest wireless cell transfers are from Sprint.

"As photographers deal with ‘composing’ beautiful visual stuff, they must be in a permanent search of something new - of a new experience for their brain, through the eyes. A good photographer always seeks for good photos, good paintings, colors, shapes, everything to keep his inspiration going. Besides this, photographers have good taste in art, especially when it comes to visual arts."

It was only a matter of time before Apple jumped on the HD bus and sure enough, iTunes users will now have access to a shiny new catalog of HD movie content. Starting immediately, a preliminary catalog of HD movies is available and accessible from within a new HD Movies page in iTunes. Films available to buy or rent in HD will also offer the option to do so on the standard movie page. Surprisingly and very disappointingly, it looks like HD content will be delivered at 720p for the time being as opposed to full HD. Hmm. New HD movies will run $19.99 for a purchase and $4.99 for a rental within the first 30 days of release. Older titles can be rented in HD for $3.99 a pop.
