yep. hardly ever have a problem with identica. and if I do, I just jump to my brainbird account (another laconica service & the one I use to feed twitter automatically so they don't get all my content) and keep on trucking. Federated open microblogging FTW.

Pandu, you can check what services Ping.fm actually posts to but reading you recent posts, it should show the icons for each service.

Don't worry Kol, I know where Ping.fm blasted my messages. It's now at 20+ services. I figure that most of them are truly underused, as people I know tend to gravitate to FF, FB, or Tw. I just dislike the idea of someone cybersquatting my Internet handle (which is "pepoluan").

btw: laconica is in the process of allowing better two way bridging. I can see my full twitter stream from brainbird - it's not as fully functional as if the people you're following are on an OMB compliant server, since the posts are not treated natively, but it can ease your transition.

I like the real-time comment trickle in, seems like the main feed should pause itself though once you start commenting somewhere. Also, what's with the "pause" button causing a refresh? That NEEDS to be AJAXed, keep the count updates rolling in in the meantime.

it's both right now - if you have group of people in Twitter then it is both - otherwise the conversation is moving more into friendfeed on a greater range of topics so for those not so tied to twitter it is twitter or friendfeed

How much time to we all have?? There are use cases for both twitter and friend feed. Some people WILL choose one or the other. There are functional aspects that i like about both. For me it is both.

Its neither - it's what fits your structure and how you want to connect. If you want actual conversations and build on relationpships, IMO, Plurk is good at that. FF seems too cluttered but aggregates a lot information together. Twitter is still good for me and is a great broadcast tool, some communication, and a lot of industry heads that you can learn from.

My other concern is that Twitter just doesn't have the expertise up high to make it a successful service. You will see the FF founders frequently engaged in conversations about FF on their service. I have yet to see a single Twitter founder engage in any of the critiques or compliments about their service on Twitter.

I post directly to FriendFeed sometimes, mainly because my FriendFeed and Twitter audiences are slightly different. I know my FriendFeed friends better than Twitter - and now recognize their names. That's what repetition will do.
