Only dullards crippled into cretinism by a fear of being thought pretentious could be so dumb as to believe that there is a distinction between design and use, between form and function, between style and substance.

This makes me sad. Even though I use Reeder.app (instead of the web interface) it supports the sharing features, as well as the comments and notes bit. Far more useful to me than FB, and probably more so than twitter. Especially in terms of being able to find what I shared/starred/liked/commented up. As @matthowie said, it's the best under-the-radar social network.

Cameron has just been served with a takedown notice from the Australian version of the RIAA. Crazy. How this doesn't make you want to go and buy a Daft Punk album I don't know.

"There's no denying that "Traditional" album sales have declined. I just take umbrage at the blanket "PIRACY DID IT!" argument. No matter what they try and do, there is no way that the industry is returning to the "glory days" of the late 1970's to early 1990's where they made astonishing amounts of money from CD sales."

That's insane. In Australia, we periodically get people/politicians/press complaining about the time it takes someone to be seen by the emergency department at public hospitals, but man, they need to read stories like this to realise that having to wait isn't a problem at all. I can't imagine anyone in Australia NOT going to a doctor for something like this. It wouldn't cost you a thing to have fixed (maybe a small sub $100 payment for subsequent visits to have casts removed etc). Crazy.

It's quite interesting. I had a conversation with a PC IT guy, and he was talking all about specs of laptops and processor speeds and all sorts of stuff, asking me how it compared to my MacBook Air. And the truth is, it don't even know how much RAM I have in there. The computer works. And a it's fast. And it's a thing of beauty. I don't care about what is in it. It just doesn't matter anymore.

While my dad's beginnings weren't quite on the scale as with Anil's father, he was born on a kitchen table in London in the middle of WWII. To see the life that my children will have, because of my good fortune, is astonishing.

A great article from Alex about the message that you send to your customers, initially through your technology choices, but ultimately through every decision you make as a business.

I saw the German track cycling team at a Grand Prix in Perth earlier in the year, and I just knew those legs in the middle belonged to Robert Forsterman. The dude can't even walk properly his thighs are so damn big.

"Hipsters" are highly susceptible to neck chills, especially when they're riding their bikes. They may not use brakes, and they may have no use for bar tape, but as soon as the mercury plunges below 65 degress they will wrap up their necks like they're Michael Hutchence about to auto-erotically asphyxiate themselves.

@brittneyg I think this was pretty much debunked after the Boing Boing story about it earlier in the year. Someone misread a guideline and over-reacted, which then got picked up by a blog and boom. Like 95% of the other stuff on the intertubes.
