I think I know exactly how that came about. The author was trying to say "the whole thing," couldn't come up with the accurate term, and just left it there. I do that stuff all the time, especially when writing in a foreign language. - Vincent van Wylick
Yeah, they're free to make their own decisions. Lego minifigs find it harder and harder to make it in today's fickle society, but the one place they can always be guaranteed an income is in porn. or something :-D - Slippy Lane
"Jewel v. NSA is aimed at ending the NSA’s dragnet surveillance of millions of ordinary Americans and holding accountable the government officials who illegally authorized it. Evidence in the case includes undisputed documents provided by former AT&T telecommunications technician Mark Klein showing AT&T has routed copies of Internet traffic to a secret room in San Francisco controlled by the NSA." - Chris Messina

"The 3-month U.S. Treasury bill yield "last traded at 0.02 percent as an actual trade and may have traded negative earlier today," said Sean Murphy, Treasuries trader at RBC Capital Markets in New York, shortly after 12:30 p.m. EDT (1630 GMT).
The last time the 3-month U.S. T-bill yield was at or below zero was in January 1940" - Paul Buchheit

From Craziest Gadgets: "The StairCASE from designer Danny Kuo is a smart solution for people with limited space (or a lot of books!). It’s a standard bookcase where each shelf is actually a box that slides out allowing it to become stairs. Just slide out a shelf and you can easily reach the top shelf without a ladder." - Mark Trapp

Hmm -- not exactly sure this makes sense -- it would seem you lose three shelves at the bottom to gain one or two on top? - Brian Sullivan
Brian, the bottom three shelves can be filled with books. - Mark Trapp
FF isn't good for my personal finances, people keep sharing things that I'm wanting to drop money on. - Eric P
That would be the implication but looking at it and noticing that the picture doesn't include books or anything on any shelf nor a real person in the picture I am thinking that it will not work if the bottom shelves are filled. - Brian Sullivan
Brian, the shelves are on gliders, why would they not work if you put something in them? - Mark Trapp
Because you have to insert your feet into the shelf to safely ascend and descend - Brian Sullivan
Brian, they slide out, like stairs. The riser of the stairs would start at the opening of the shelf. - Mark Trapp
Maybe -- but the fact that the picture doesn't show anything real leads me to think otherwise --perhaps it is just a poor choice of illustration? - Brian Sullivan
Brian, the picture doesn't show the guy sticking his feet in the shelves: I'm not really sure why that would be an option. You don't stick your feet over the tread and into a riser in any other staircase. - Mark Trapp
Brian, it's just a problem with how far the shelves/steps are pulled out in this visual. If they were pulled out further, it would be more obvious that there was enough room for feet. - Sean O'Brien
Brian, normal bookshelves have just one horizontal shelf between rows - this looks like it has two, one at the top of each row to step on and one at the bottom of each row for the books to rest on. Brilliant concept. - Deborah Fitchett
Except that we're not more secure without those things. - Paul Buchheit
Those who give up freedom for security deserve neither. - Lindsay Donaghe
Yet another reason not to vote for the GOP. They could have held up our freedom, but instead chose to gleefully throw it away for false security. That said, the dems haven't been much better, but they weren't in complete control for most of the time since 2001... - Tad, Fool
My second thought after I saw the news that a plane hit the World Trade Center - "OMG - there go our freedoms! The government will use this as the perfect excuse to take them away... we'll be under martial law in a few days." Well at least the last part didn't come true... - Lindsay Donaghe
I think it would have been more realistic if the sleep panel still had the stick figure sitting at the computer dreaming of being in bed. I've been "falling asleep at the wheel" a lot lately myself. - Larry Kless
ha... there was a time in the 1980s when my life was more like this. Stuck this week at Harbin Hot Springs, where I have to drive 5 miles for cell phone and/or wireless, so it's kind of a major <bummer> hassle... Enviously of all of you guys on-line! - Mitchell Tsai
it'd definitely going to take me a while to get to a million. I'm publishing about 200 photos to flickr a week right now and at this pace it will take 92 years to get there. I'll get the pace up to 400-500 a week in the future though. Better technology should make processing easier and someday my kids will be grown and I'll be able to quit my day job and focus on this even more. The best photos have yet to be taken. - Thomas Hawk
When I think about this I realize your best days are ahead of you. - Russellreno
What's your shot/publish ratio? I mean, on average how many shots do you take to produce those you publish? - Yuval Atzmon
atzmon, I probably average about 2,000 shots a week that I shoot. And I'm probably processing 300 or so of those a week at present, so I'm probably keeping about 15%. The other 85% never get processed and are kept in my archives. I'm trying only to process and publish the shots that I think meet a certain quality criteria. - Thomas Hawk
You upload a lot more than I do. I have about 40,000 pictures but only about 2000 uploaded. Mostly because I have not gotten around to processing more. =) - Jauder Ho
via twhirl
Jauder, the good news is that processing will only get easier in the future. I've watched it get better with each successive Adobe release. Lightroom 2.0 is the best processing tool yet. It's not necessarily faster per se though because with more tools there are yet even more ways to tweak a photo hence even more time. But the tools to speed things up are coming too. auto geotagging, better anti dust tech, faster processing speeds, easier online tools with faster broadband are all around the corner. - Thomas Hawk
16,000 ?? Yikes. Cool number. Congrats. - Charlie Anzman
This photo is total awesome. It is made even more awesome by the knowledge that there are 15,999 more photos just as awesome as this one. EDIT: This photo is now my desktop background. :) - possible248

It's not that McCain's too old, but he IS old, and if he were to pass, would you trust Palin as president? No one is questioning Biden's ability to take over should Obama die, which I am kind of curious about. - keif
