Clearly, Hulu's content of professionally produced TV shows and movies generates more revenue per viewer and video than YouTube's user-generated content, which still scares advertisers (and especially brand advertisers) because of the unpredictability of the content. - José Murilo Junior

"The current global financial turmoil bolsters the case for government adoption of social networks as technology-budget cuts make tapping into societal resources, such as voluntary groups, philanthropists, associations and social network groups essential to complement weaker government action in some critical areas," said Andrea Di Maio, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner - José Murilo Junior

Matt Mason's speech at Pop!Tech. He talked about a few other things besides 'Piracy as a new type of business mode'. Mason was a former pirate radio DJ and founding editor of the British counter-culture magazine site RWD, which was launched to bridge the gap between music pirates and the mainstream market. An expert in cheating the system, Mason advocates piracy as a way to force old laws to catch up with the new ways information is being used. - José Murilo Junior

For the first time in its history, young people are watching less TV than their elders, and the cause of the decline is competition for their free time from media that allow for active and social participation, not just passive and individual consumption. The value in media is no longer in sources but in flows; when we pool our cognitive surplus, it creates value that doesn't exist when we operate in isolation. The displacement of TV watching is coming among people who are using more of their time to make things and do things, sometimes alone and sometimes together, and to share those things with others. - José Murilo Junior

The internet is the most powerful tool created by humans to allow connection, collaboration and understanding between people of different nations, races and cultures. For the internet to reach its potential in bridging human differences, we need to make the problems of language and translation center to our conversations about the future of the internet. - José Murilo Junior
