I'll take a guess. Some restaurants don't run on Tuesdays or [Tuesdays AND Wednesdays] because those tend to be the least profitable days of the week. Depending on the clientele/location, it may actually cost the restaurant dearly to be open on such slow days. I *have* seen Indian restaurants open on Tuesdays, so I doubt there is a religious/cultural reason for what you're seeing. - David Rothman (☤)

I found a reference to a Punjab law from 1958 mandating one day a week shutdowns as well. So maybe that's the explanation. - Steven Kaye

David, the problem was I needed to convert Word docs to PDF. Normally not a big deal, but one doc I opened froze Word. I had to close it out, the tried to open a different doc. Word immediately wanted me to decided to restore the previous doc or not--but wouldn't let me, it just froze again. Shut Word down again, open a *different* doc, & now it immediately wants me to choose to restore the 2 previous docs--except it again froze & wouldn't let me. Lather, rinse, repeat. - joshua m. neff
