Kansas Preacher Pushes Obama Muslim Message WICHITA, KAN. — A Wichita, Kansas preacher says he will not remove a message on his church sign that says President-Elect Barack Obama is a Muslim. The sign is staying up despite the fact that Obama is a Christian. The sign at Spirit One Christian Center reads, “America we have a Muslim president. This is sin against the Lord.” Obama supporters reportedly got into a shouting match with parishioners outside the church on Sunday. - ♣genieyclo♣
Could it be that there are too many stupid people in America for it to survive as a functioning superpower? This thought crosses my mind often these days. In the nineties I felt like we were a highly educated nation, on the cutting edge of human progress. Then the wheels fell off with the turn of the millennium. - Sean McBride
I love the "Church Without Walls" part. It's so ironic. - Glenn Batuyong
Exodus 20:3 is part of the 10 commandments, it states "Thou shalt have no other god's before me". I can think of no way in which having a Muslim president (if that were even the case) would violate that commandment for any Christian. How sad that this is what things have come to. - Aaron Krug
Reason #... ah screw it. Like I actually need another reason to not go to Kansas... - Mark VandenBerg
How is being a muslim a sin against any just deity? This is the most stupid and ignorant sign I've seen in a long time. This sign is a sin against everything that America stands for and I don't even believe in sin... - Alex Scoble CISSP
Come on people. Do you need to see a sign like this to know that there are idiots everywhere and it's best to just ignore them? :) - Patricia
Muslims believe in the same G-d as do the Christians....it's very ironic. As is that they claim to to be a "Church Without Walls", as Glenn noted. - ♣genieyclo♣
Are you kidding me? is this for real? wow! - Susan Beebe
fuckin idiots. excuse the vulgarity, but i can't stress that enough. cretin motherfuckers who serve no purpose in life. - Cee Bee
The difference between our network here and this wall-less church is that we tend to think rationally. - Aaron Hood
Patricia -- to connect a few dots: Joseph Lieberman, who was just warmly embraced by the Democratic Party leadership, is a close political ally of a religious extremist who shares these views -- John Hagee. This cultural rot reaches to the highest levels of the American political system. The Republican Party, without much subtlety, encouraged this kind of thinking during the recent campaign. Something has gone seriously wrong in America since George W. Bush came to power. - Sean McBride
That sign is painful in so many ways... - xero
@Sean, I'm going to buy that book you told me about the next time I get to the book store. I think it's going to be an insightful read. Since the election, I've wanted to learn more about the government, what's going on. Thank you!!!! - Patricia
what book, pray dear Patricia and honorable Sean, is this? - ♣genieyclo♣
Patricia is probably referring to this: {.book; Craig Unger; The Fall of the House of Bush: The Untold Story of How a Band of True Believers Seized the Executive Branch, Started the Iraq War, and Still Imperils America's Future; 2007 http://www.amazon.com/Fall-Hou... - Sean McBride
Sean, are you always going to post like that from now on? Looks bad, but I think it's still a good idea. I just might come on aboard with you :) - ♣genieyclo♣
Here is the latest edition: {.book; Craig Unger; American Armageddon: How the Delusions of the Neoconservatives and the Christian Right Triggered the Descent of America--and Still Imperil Our Future; 2008; Scribner http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ... Cool title upgrade from the hardcover edition. - Sean McBride

"While Obama won a lopsided number of electoral votes, his popular-vote margin was increased by an outpouring of minority balloting as the number of whites who cast ballots declined overall. The analysis estimated that about 5.8 million more minorities voted in this year's presidential election than in 2004 while nearly 1.2 million fewer whites went to the polls. Separate opinion polls and election results themselves indicate that an overwhelming majority of African-Americans and Latinos backed Obama. The surge in minority voting was even more pronounced in some election swing states, including Ohio, the liberal-leaning nonprofit group Project Vote reported." - MikeAmundsen via Bookmarklet

Chocolates are something we buy often when we do our shopping. But what if the chocolate is too expensive to be affordable?Chocolates are one of the many heavenly tastes to our tongues. We buy loads of them and store them in the refrigerator to be eaten at will. But sometimes, buying chocolates can get a little expensive: - Mahdi Ebrahimi via Bookmarklet

1. CHOCOPOLOGIE: Founded by Fritz Knipschildt, a chef who got his culinary education in Denmark, in 1999, Knischildt creates one of the world's tastiest chocolates. Its costliest on-piece chocolate is a $250 dark chocolate truffle with French black truffle within it (in picture). This special truffle, available only on a pre-order basis, is mainly composed of 70% Valhrona cacao blended into a creamy ganache with truffle oil. The truffle is made with extremely precise bare hands and finally dusted with cocoa powder. - Mahdi Ebrahimi

2.Noka: A compilation of the finest dark chocolates obtained from selective plantations in Venezuela, Côte d'Ivoire, Trinidad and Ecuador, Noka chocolate is the second most expensive in the world. It comprises of 75% pure, single-origin cacao with other ingredients like cacao butter and sugar. One amazing fact about this chocolate manufacturer is that it does not add any type of emulsifier or vanilla flavors in its chocolates. - Mahdi Ebrahimi
3.Delafee: For those ladies who are fans of gold, there's Delafee to be tried out, because this chocolate is made by applying real 24K edible flakes of gold to each praline by hand. Otherwise, it is composed of sugar, coconut oil, cocoa butter, milk powder and vanilla. - Mahdi Ebrahimi
4. Richart: Richart chocolate might be only the fourth most expensive chocolate in the world, but it is made up of 70% Criollo cocoa from Venezuela, which is considered to be the best quality of chocolate in the world. The cocoa used in the chocolates is finely ground, to give a smooth taste to any taster. To match with the finest chocolate, the best varieties of almonds, raspberries, strawberries and other exotic species are used. - Mahdi Ebrahimi

"McALLEN, Texas — A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County's federal detention centers. The indictment criticizes Cheney's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees by working through the prison companies." - Steven Perez via Bookmarklet

"ABC News' Teddy Davis and Arnab Datta Report: ABC News has learned that Delaware's newly elected Democratic governor is planning to take the oath of office at 12:01 a.m. ET on Jan. 20, 2009, making it possible for him to name Vice President-elect Joe Biden's replacement to the United States Senate. Whether Governor-elect Jack Markell (D) gets to name Biden's Senate replacement will ultimately turn on whether the Vice President-elect makes good on his stated intention to wait until the moment he becomes Vice President to resign from the U.S. Senate. Delaware law provides that when a U.S. senator resigns before the end of his term, the state's governor appoints a replacement who remains in office until the next election which, in this case, is 2010." - Kathleen Anderson via Bookmarklet

A few days ago a neighbor knocked on our door saying that he was terrorizing their cat, invading their home, and peeing on their floor. He's become ultra-aggressive lately, basically vicious to other cats. We've been trying to transition him to indoors-only, but he won't have it: Pooping everywhere, attacking Stormy, being mean to the kids, tearing at the blinds, scratching up the doors. After talking with vets and neighbors, we felt the only choice was to bring him to a shelter. I'm very unhappy about it. - Stephen Mack

I love it when Repubs speak the truth. > ""We are educated by the great entertainers like Rush Limbaugh," Hagel said Tuesday during a speech in Washington, according to the Huffington Post. "You know, I wish Rush Limbaugh and others like that would run for office," a sarcastic Hagel continued. "They have so much to contribute and so much leadership and they have an answer for everything. And they would be elected overwhelmingly. [The truth is] they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don't have any answers."" - Russellreno via Bookmarklet
I think that's why they don't run for office, actually. And frankly, I'm happy they don't. Entertainers entertain. Limbaugh is just that. Don't find him entertaining? Turn him off. Even talking about him negatively gives him too much advertising. Just my ¥2, of course. - thepete

He also rejected new concessions by the union on wages or retiree benefits as some in Congress have demanded." - Leather Donut

Buh-bye, UAW. Americans have other problems on their plate. - Sean McBride
I sometimes wonder if they realize that they are messing with people in related industries who are not members of the UAW. And if so, do they care? - Katy Southern
@Katy: They probably don't care. UAW has its fingers in so many industries (I think the clerical workers at the University of California system are members of UAW) that they'd be just as happy if they were the be-all, end-all for labor unions everywhere. - Brian Chang
Katy, they do not. Absolutely not. The only concern is their padding of their own benefits. A proposal put forth about 10 years ago would have given every retiree a brand new GMC Jimmy. Now just how fucked up is that. I certainly have no expectation that I would get a free car at the end of my career. - Leather Donut
I know the people at the top of the union don't. I do wonder if the everyday workers/union members realize this or think about it. I know it's completely screwed up. I'm from an area with a lot of the related industry. Some is unionized, some isn't. Not all of the unions are UAW-affiliated. The UAW's decisions really seriously affect a lot of people who have no say in those decisions. - Katy Southern
Oh yes they do. I lived in Detroit for a while and met a bunch. Their sense of entitlement (with regards to benefits) is unbelievable. - Leather Donut
