Dont use the term netbook. You may get a C&D notice from Psion :-) - Sidharth Dassani from fftogo
I have a Samsung NC10 and love it. The keyboard is large and works well for touch typing. The screen is as big as you can get on a netbook. I use it primarily for web browsing and feed reading. - JMaultasch
Cnet rates the HP Mini 1000 as the top rated http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops... - Jeremiah Owyang
The problem with the HP one is it's price tag is around 650, nearly double that of the entry level netbooks http://www.amazon.com/Mini-10... - Jeremiah Owyang
This Lenovo one is affordable, small, and agile, interesting http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops... - Jeremiah Owyang
Keboard and screen are personal taste (and how small you can go), but you have to make sure that you have a real HD if you have XP, and Atom. Flash SSD is too small, and any processor other than Atom is just too small. I use MSI Wind with 6 cell battery (although 9 cell would be cool) - you do need the battery life - Ian D. Nock
I recommend the Asus N10J. You can find a review from the same guy in here: http://bit.ly/U2YQ - Nir Ben Yona
We had a good netbook discussion here: http://friendfeed.com/e... - Mona Nomura
I have 2: Asus 901 and Asus 1000H. Love em both. - Dave Winer
Good video review--hopefully Apple will come out with something in the NB realm, though I'm doubtful... - Jason Heath from twhirl
One of my lectures has an Eee PC. He uses it for presentations and so forth. Handles heavy duty stuff like Visual Studio acceptably. - Roberto Bonini
Eee PC 1000H http://friendfeed.com/search... TESTED! OK! ;-) - Erhan Erdogan
I recommend the Acer Aspire One. cheap, light, good battery, the keyboard is good enough. productive enough for me - heri
Basically there's a common feature set, and they're all made with the same parts. Jeremiah -- I made a checklist, maybe this will help. http://bit.ly/ChAr - Dave Winer
I bought an Eee PC 4G Surf with Linux. I bought it to screw around with and learn Linux a little. I use it more and more, but I wish I had spent another hundred or so for a bigger screen/keyboard and a webcam. - MVB (Grinch of FF)
+1 for the Aspire One. I have not moved my other laptop since I have this one. - Gaspar Torriero
+2 for the Aspire One - I actually gave my son my old laptop because this one does everything I need. I'm in love... - Webgoddess
I have an EEE PC 901. It works reasonably well. It is the right combo of weight and power for me. I especially like that I can get 5+ hours on the battery when I need to. - Sean Brady
Hey Dave Winer. I'm a somewhat older feller, not unlike yourself. Do you spend hours and hours on your netbook (strain on eyes, etc)? That's my doubt. I clock some serious time on my current laptop, a PowerBook G4. I do a lot of coding. My wife thinks I'm nuts, to be wanting a netbook. - Ted Gilchrist
Acer Aspire One or the HP mini - Thao Ly
Like all machines, for prolonged fixed base use you should get yourself a separate large monitor... my Netbook drives a 22" 1650x1050 fine (MSI Wind) - Ian D. Nock
+3 for the Aspire One AOA150, just the touchpad needs a little bit of practice - lalui
Eeepc 1000H - Mushin
LOL @ Sidharth Dassani for C&D comment :) - Mike Reynolds
Notbook? ;) - Tyson Key
Can't go wrong with the Asus Eee PC 1000H or MSI Wind. If I were buying now, I'd look into the Samsung or HP. I like the layout of their keyboards. The Samsung has the best battery life. - Rodfather
MSI Wind is the easiest netbook to convert into a hackintosh, highly recommended if you want a Macbook Nano! http://genechuang.blogspot.com/2008... - Gene Chuang
Is anyone charting these responses? What's the net net on netbooks? - V Mary Abraham
