From my inbox: Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be...
Heard this from a customer the other day, but he ended it, "So don't giver her any crap." It's funnier that way.

In my house you have to give me the groceries to get a meal, but you can give my wife flour and sugar and she'll give you back bliss in a cookie.

@pallina60Loon LOL a massive exception to the rule
- Parvez Halim
@pallina60loon not an exception, still the rule. When a man gives a woman money, that is a small debt, which the woman "then multiples and enlarges what is given to her" :)
- Ken & Kiyomi
@ Parvez Halim: I do not think is exceptional. People prefer to think that the woman is sweet and helpful. Sometimes it is not so
- pallina60 Loon
@ ❦ ❦ Kiyomi & Ken: I have not talked to repay the money :-)

Someone please create a male counterpoint!
- ZuDfunck
For ZuDfunck: Whatever you give a man, he will make less. If you give him a musical instrument, he'll pawn it. If you give him a house, soon you will be homeless. If you give him groceries, he'll give you a mess.. If you give him a smile, he'll give you a grope. He reduces and diminishes what is given to him.

When did you start 'reading' your mail Leo? I had a lot to write to you for years but couldn't find a way to reach you. I didn't bother writing an e-mail since you repeatedly mentioned that you didn't read them at all :)

Am I the only one who thinks this quote is a bit male chauvinistic? The quote has a wrapper that appears to make women look great but underneath, it stereotypes women as a typical "wife" in a submissive male chauvinistic system. Again, my 2 cents based on a cursory reading on a hectic day.
- Krishnan Subramanian
Good point. Groceries and meal are chauvinistic, among others. Sorry, but the theme had good intent.

I was undecided until they tried to position Obama as the black candidate "Like Jesse Jackson" and then I remembered how miserable the Clinton presidency was. That decided me, up till that point I thought HRC could be a good change, a thoughtful president.
- Dave Winer
I was for Obama, and that never changed, but I gradually became more and more *against* Clinton. Her campaign seemed straight out of the Karl Rove playbook after a while.
- ha3rvey (free hugs!)
I started out supporting Richardson. When he dropped I started to support Obama. But regardless who got the Democratic nomination I intended to vote for the Democrat. This country can't four more years of Republican rule.
- Paul

I've been for Obama, not because I agree with him on every issue, but because I think he has the best chance of reforming government to its proper purpose... serving the people. I'm voting to improve the process of government.
- LogEx
So, i hear lots of words such as reforms, refreshing around Obama all the time.. Currently our nation is going through so much volatility on a daily basis.. Why vote for the "unknown?" Obama can swing either way.. He can end up a solution or add on to the existing issues our nation have... Hillary has a "record" she is a candidate we are able to "see" better then Obama. Under the...

I think a "nice" scotch would conflict with her Working-Class Hero persona. Perhaps they are just, you know, sitting on the front porch, drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon out of the can... she is probably pulling a Maxwell Smart, saying she hopes he didn't take that crack about "white people preferring her" seriously, and by the way does he have $20 million to spare.
- Karim
It's all very "chicago" style politics - he finds a way to break the law and give her 20 million and she helps him get ahead. "change" indeed :)

new nickname for Hillary.. Scortch Clinton. She lived up to it the other night, watch her reinforce it again

Nothing illegal about Obama helping retire HRC's campaign debt. He just can't do it out of his campaign fund. I'm guessing a series of "unity" fundraisers, possibly post-election.

- Arjun
What kind if idiotic statement is that? We have clothes on our backs, food to eat everyday, and don't have to worry about leaving our homes (yeah we have HOMES) out for fear of someone kidnapping us or killing us. You want to know what third world is? Go to the ghettos of Jamaica or Haiti or South Africa, India, Somalia. Ridiculous
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
@marty when a presidential canadate can spend 20 million on an deligate hunt and watch our economy go down hill, when we are cutting or the home less we may be in a better position than other countrys but we are the third world we just have better toys

Companies s/ just invest in virtual meeting A/V app's. This will cut out the need to travel at all. Telecommuting is the way to go.. a face2face meeting is really required and most of the time the decisions are still made at the backend..never upfront.
- Peter Dawson
@shey I respect what you have to say but how much has your cost of living gone up with out a better job, I myself am disabled and it is harder for me to work and find a job but because of the position of our country im screwd, thier are things we could do to bring our country back up but as i see it where i live suffers more for the way our countrys econnomy has fallen

What do you expect when we send all our dollars to China. What do you think they're buying with the money? 1. Cars. 2. Highways. 3. Gasoline. 4. Inflation (for us).
- Dave Winer
just b'coz a countries economy has fallen does not mean that its become 3rd world !! I will agree with @Shey,- having worked in slums /leper colonies in India, I have seen what is meant by being an "outcast" .no food, clothing or family . Trust me the Americans and most of the 1st world have barely scratched the surrface of the poverty line, let alone understand the morbid intricacies of humans treating other humans like animals.
- Peter Dawson
@Dave you're absolutely right (OMG I'm agreeing with Dave Winer *marks it down in calendar*). China owns the US right now, literally, I hear they are even buying up real estate. Don't forget how much y'all owe them too. If they were to call back all that debt all at once the entire economy would collapse and Canada's with eventually.
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
@dave , what did you expect when all the americans wanted was more and more stuff-- 1 xmas present is not enough for the kid, they need 5/6 items.. there greed of the Americans is its downfall.. don't blame the Chinese.. you demanded , they supplied .. yeah and don't 4get, US is spending $2B a week in Iraq- get over that spending first..and feed your ecomomy with food first - not oil
- Peter Dawson
@Charles My condolences, I dont' think many anyone can appreciate the struggles you have to go through on a daily basis. Especially because most people have it a lot easier, which makes your statement about the country being Third World kinda ludicrous. Yes, your situation must be extremely difficult, but North America is doing pretty darn well compared to the rest of the world.
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
Peter, I totally agree, I don't blame the Chinese. We're fat and dumb here, we're going to have to start getting smart soon, and I don't think people are going to like it. If Americans saw the kind of cars people drive in Europe they'd freak out. If Americans understood who we're competing with (in China and India) they'd freak out. Ultimately our economies are going to, at best, look like theirs. That means our standard of living will go down and theirs will go up. This will happen in Europe too.
- Dave Winer
@shay I have respect for you and your view, I speak by what my eyes have seen I am white and have lived in an american ghetto no it was not as bad as other countrys but thier is more to what I classify as a third world than just economy.
- Charles Rice
from twhirl
Dave, your very much correct "That means our standard of living will go down and theirs will go up" - we are getting to "the world is flat" state. I don't think that their std of living will go up. Last week, I spoke to a team from India who flew into FL for a gig I asked them hows the clubbing, - it sux's, clubs are better in India.
- Peter Dawson
If we want to be competitive again, we have to stop being afraid of immigrants. This country was founded on the idea that poor people from other countries would be willing to move here and do backbreaking labor at cheap costs because it gave them a better life than they had at home. The American Dream was that their CHILDREN would have a better life. Now, Americans are afraid of competition. And, we're fat and lazy.
- Robert Peterson
@ Peter Dawson..the food's better in India too :)

@shey, What a shitty, ignorant and stupid statement to make. That India is a ghetto. Have u ever been to harlem or say seen the people staying in the under ground tunnel in the so called "first world" country US.I have respect for US.But its has its own problems like our. And @peter what kind of slums/leper colonies are u talking abt.It not 1942.How long back have u been to India? Have u ever been to the ghettos like china town in New York or say Harlem? Leprosy is a tropical disease so its prevalent here.
- Arjun
Also population is very high here.So even if we earn and GDP is high, u sudo so called 1st world country(btw who gave that term to u) calculates the per capita GDP as low. And finally its in DOLLARS.Take just the conversion rate and we "poor" Indians are fucked.Do u know with the purchasing parity, we can kick anyones ass any day.And why do "wester" 1st world people come to india for doing there "social work" thing here in India. Why not say dafur or somalia or even bangladesh?
- Arjun
@Robert great point that us is trying to block out mexico and our statue of liberty says "Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.I lift my lamp beside the golden door." and yet we are now blocking them out

The US will still be the number 1 economy 10 years from now, but the scary numbers are the fact that in the next 10 years China and India are going to drive 90% of the global GDP growth. The US will stay a world power for a while but we're now witnessing the 'rise of the rest' as Fareed Zakaria says in The Post American World. It's an interesting read check it out http://tinyurl.com/6aokgo

@Arjun EVERY country is has their filthy rich no matter how poor it or the people may be. And I NEVER said ALL of India was a ghetto -- take the time to READ my statement before trying to chew me out.
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
@Arjun, "Help them first -So are they in US.Help them first. After sub-prime issue lot will not have a HOME>Help them first -" - NO- you can go ahead and help them. The American greed for money created the sub-prime mess, the american's now have to reap the consquenses. we in canada, have 'nuff of our own problems to tend too :)- As for the question"How long back have u been to India? " - there in Jan 2007.

I'm not typically a conspiracy theorist, but I do believe the run-up in oil futures smacks of the kind of manipulation that Enron used in driving up electricity prices in California. Personally, I think there are many positive long-term benefits to high gas prices as it is finally forcing consumers to make long-term positive decisions that have been put off because of cheap oil. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see a bust in market. I just hope such a bust does not make Hummers look attractive again.
- Rex Hammock
Did you see that GM may be phasing our new Hummers?

@peter @yuvi, well the point taken. :) got a bt emotional. But the thing is sometimes I feel I know or atleast make a effort to know other countries. But most from other countries(mostly wester hemisphere) don't! And that pains me. No I am not a psyco fanatic patriot.Just like to have the fact staraight. And going back to the original q: I really beleive the whole thing is due to OPEC not wanting to increase output and the iraq war preventing disruption frm a big supplier.
- Arjun
Most Oil firms are wester/US based companies.ANd if they can just increase the output, which in turn will put less pressure on the world market. Then this criss can be averted. In fact as of yesterday, Indian govt increased the petrol prices by 5 bucks and diesel by 3 bucks. And that still will not cover the loss by Indian oil importers. And that has already raised such a hue & cry that govt is in danger. So I beleive that the Oil Cartel should be reined in and let them just not think of selfish profit.
