This is an old science fiction story (and was old even when Star Trek did their version in the late 60s). For all that remote weaponry appears to distance people from battle, it is a sad truth that land can only be taken by boots on the ground and (at least currently) at that risk of human lives. - JR Holmes

Given the trouble that the Android tablets have been having, it looks like the HP Touchpad has a significant opportunity to shine as an iPad alternative. The secret advantage that it may have is how it handles web apps that aren't specifically targeted to the Touchpad. If it handles them well, they get to take advantage of the ChromeOS apps, the supposed Facebook HTML5 apps, and more. In theory WebOS should be able to do this well, but for the moment we have to wait and see. - JR Holmes
