Nice, some DIA stuff, I made a research about those murals, really impressive cognitive work, captures how it affected the scenery of having masonic props behind the construction of it, and their alleged underground bases. Was that in one of these murals? - ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
You lost me, Elijah. The shirt seems to be an homage to the (now infamous) Three Wolf Moon T-Shirt (http://www.amazon.com/Mountai...) but using Keyboard Cats instead of wolves. It's simply the limit. - Phil G
Elijah, do you have links to these DIA murals? - Phil G from iPhone
Ok ok! Yeah I got those in some research archive, but there is resources somewhere, hold on... - ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
Here's the full article of the guy who gave me motivation to look into this a lil' further, the guy wrote to the administration and all, great journalism. http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopo... - ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,

Yep, I was a fan of the United States for how far things could go, it seems it was the place for defining stuff in infinite ways. Thousands of questions can arise as content is absorbed by the subject when learning more about this. And especially why would questions be asked if it was simple art with nothing special to show when it is of dead babies and war poems and stuff. - ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,

Note to self: Don't 'friend' your boss on FB and then bitch about your job.
FB.jpg
Owned. - Johnny
El. Oh. El. You gotta be some sort of stupid to friend your boss before your probation period is up. Fired in front of friends and family? PRICELESS. - Admiral Anika
She's a f*ing idiot. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine at an ad agency, who accidentally texted "my boss is a fucking cunt" ... to her boss. She didn't get fired or reprimanded, but she freaked out about it. - LANjackal
It floors me how much people openly vent about their jobs on public feeds like FriendFeed. Even if your boss isn't a direct contact, how are people so sure that a boss or co-worker won't stumble across it? - Mike Doeff from iPhone
If I have complaints about work, I try to mask them as much as possible or make them more about me personally than the job itself. At the same time, I really try to stay mum about any job I have.. - Jon, the Chilled Beartato
Mike and how are you so sure that other people don't know who you are talking about? There's a person here on FriendFeed who complains about their coworker. Even though I live in a different city, I know that coworker. - Admiral Anika
+1 Anika. I generally refrain from talking bad about my employer/coworkers ANYWHERE online. Even on anonymous accounts. You just never know who might freak out and file an unmasking court order. It's happened before. - LANjackal from IM
It also doesn't matter if anyone sees it when you write it, because The Google sees it and records it for anyone looking for it years from now. - Trish R
Maybe the more general rule that comes into play here is to never say anything about someone you wouldn't tell them to their face. - Ken Sheppardson
Well said Ken. - Benjamin Taylor
What an idiot... When people claim we don't need guidelines for employees using social media, I just have to point out cases of extreme stupidity like this... - Badger Gravling
Ouch! Hope she learned the lesson. And +1 Ken, this is the simplest rule not to forget at any point. - lelapin

Ouch… :P - Daniel Schildt
Well someone has to make room for other people! From the sounds of it, she was probably already canned anyway. - Robert Fisher
Well that was a bit dumb. The thing about social media is it's just so much a part of our lives. We are encouraged to pour our views and feelings into it but we have to remember who is going to be reading it. In the end we have to censor ourselves so as a result our lifestream is a watered down stream. There are no directors cuts. - Parvez Halim
Absolutely priceless! - Robert Couture
Oh and I forgot the LOL. - Parvez Halim
this is something that may occur very often. More than we think! - Rui
@Rui I remember a colleague of mine did a similar thing. Luckily they got away with a written warning and no pay rise for that year. - Parvez Halim
HUGE! - Nathan Guetta
Interestingly, every time I consider complaining about my job via any social media platform, I stop and think "how can I make my job better? how can I improve myself?" and then end up writing about that instead. It has made me a much happier person. Really. - mike fabio
OMG ! this is awesome - Franck Nouyrigat
OUCH! - Retno Nindya
.. and that's why I'm private. I'm pretty good about not talking about work, but never know when I may say something completely stupid - Rodfather
I think there is a serious point here: Your on-line social network pals will be supportive of you regardless of whether you are right or wrong. That's what friends are for, kind of. All the boss does is let in a bit of reality. - sjjh
Maybe she wanted to be fired by her boss? Just questioning... - Torsten Eckert

I love Vernazza. My profile photo (on FriendFeed and Facebook) was shot here in Nov 2005 ($208 RT SFO-MIL Milan) near the SE corner of the building lights (a little bit right of dead-center in this photo), sitting on the rocks during sunset. It was someone else's camera. The amazing photos in Cinque Terre - two friends downloaded their pics onto my computer to have space to shoot more pics - convinced me to buy my first camera on my return home. "My wife and I adopted our baby girl, Carmen Laura, from Bogotá, Colombia. While the courts processed her paperwork, we spent two months in Bogotá waiting to take Carmen home. Carmen's birthmother gave her a book filled with letters, pictures and poems. "I hope that the hardness of the world will not hurt your sensitivity," she wrote, "When I think about you I hope that your life is full of beautiful things." With those words as a mission statement, I began making my own book for Carmen. In photographing the city of her birth, I hope I've described some of the beauty in this hard place." - Anna Haro

Scientists reveal human body glows a visible light 1000x less intense than which our eyes can sense; mostly from face
"The human body literally glows, emitting a visible light in extremely small quantities at levels that rise and fall with the day, scientists now reveal. Past research has shown that the body emits visible light, 1,000 times less intense than the levels to which our naked eyes are sensitive. In fact, virtually all living creatures emit very weak light, which is thought to be a byproduct of biochemical reactions involving free radicals. (This visible light differs from the infrared radiation — an invisible form of light — that comes from body heat.)" - Jeffrey Marsh from Bookmarklet

Uganda to outlaw female circumcision - Yahoo! News
"Uganda will pass a law banning female genital mutilation, which is rampant among pastoralist tribes in the country's eastern region, the president said in a statement Friday. "The way God made it, there is no part of a human body that is useless," President Yoweri Museveni told a gathering in the eastern Karamoja district. "Now you people interfere with God's work. Some say it is culture. Yes, I support culture but you must support culture that is useful and based on scientific information," he added. Last year, the United Nations passed a resolution that called female genital mutilation a violation of the rights of women and said it constituted "irreparable, irreversible abuse." The resolution also said female circumcision increases the risk of HIV transmission, as well as maternal and infant mortality. The UN estimates that between 100 million to 140 million worldwide have undergone the practice." - Anne Bouey from Bookmarklet

Topic should be that the half-life of everything is getting shorter, including attention spans. - Bob Blunk
I think it's called ADD. - Ken Sheppardson
Great video Robert - I completely agree, and is the reason I prefer ff over twitter. Would be very helpful if ff could aggregate all related posts in some way to ensure you can get the whole conversation as well. With more information though, we need better filters. - Alistair (alpinefolk)
You know, what really gets me is how we've come to call anything that happens "News". It's not. When my friend's cat does something stupid, that's not "news". My reaction to a new cell phone isn't "news". - Ken Sheppardson
There are, what, 6Bil people on earth right now? Let's say half of them are asleep, half of those that are awake are bent over in a field somewhere or in a factory where they can't hear the person next to them, that leaves, like, 1Bil people making "news" at any given moment. I'd hate to see what your feed looks like, Robert, once they all have iPhones and microblogging accounts. - Ken Sheppardson
Interesting to note this Twitter post is drawing more conversation than the post exclusive to FF. Also draws in more voices to this thread. - Kevykev
KevyKev: yeah, that is interesting. Especially since this one doesn't have a graphic associated with it. The FriendFeed-to-Twitter feature is definitely bringing people over to FriendFeed. - Robert Scoble
Good stuff to start off a Monday morning, Robert. It's really amazing how much good information is being produced today, andI think FriendFeed is helping all of us to filter the inevitable noise around it. - Jorge Escobar
Even if we can lengthen the conversation, who is doing that? For example how much time do you spend on current topics vs. older? - Rob McMurtrie
Isn't half-life a personal thing?! depends on how fast you process your feeds. +1 to FF's threads increasing half-life part. - Shivanand Velmurugan

i really don't like those billboards... isn't it against the bible or something to speak for the christian god anyway? - Justin
Well, there's a difference between speaking for God, being divinely inspired, and a joke. - Mark Trapp
Well, If I believe in God, I prefer him as a smartass. Much more interesting than the petty, vindictive version a lot of Christians believe in. - Fa La La La Lindsay
We don't believe in a petty, vindictive God, either. That would be a silly thing to believe in. - Mark Trapp
Lindsay, I'm sure He has a sense of humor. He'd have to have a well-developed one in order to put up with our crap, day in, day out, through the millenia. - Raoul Pop
yeah but there is a fine line there Mark. people can say just about anything for someone when they are not close to the person (physically or emotionally) - Justin
Justin, I think you need to factor in intent and the reasonably expected consequences of a sign like this. No reasonable person would believe that God made the billboard and is using it as a mouthpiece to speak to people stuck in traffic, and I doubt the billboard maker intended to deceive anyone with the sign. Although thinking about it some more, if this was a jab at Christianity by some prankster, it'd be improper, but the sign qua the sign can't infer intent. Need more information. - Mark Trapp
@Mark, not saying you do, but a lot of Christians do. Anyone who believes that God would send them to be tortured in Hell for ETERNITY for even one, unrepentant sin (or, for that matter, 80 years worth of sins compared to eternity) is worshiping a pretty petty god. - Fa La La La Lindsay
Christians don't believe that Lindsay. The God of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism is all forgiving. In Christianity, there is only one unforgivable sin, and Satan's the only one who's committed it. Christians believe if you are truly sorry for your sins, God will forgive you. Unconditionally. It's the core tenet of the religion. - Mark Trapp
"there's a difference between speaking for God, being divinely inspired, and a joke" - no difference that I have ever been able to discern - Brian Sullivan
that makes sense. though i'm not sure i approve of these sort of things regardless of their intended effect. yeah sure people wont necessarily believe god made the billboard but someone did make this to prove a point which people are entitled to do. i guess my point is instead of using a deity to back up whatever the intent is, use some reasoning other than "cause the deity said so." - Justin
hmmm... I think my response to Mark was deleted. I guess I'll take that as a clue my opinion isn't welcome on this discussion. That's ok. - Fa La La La Lindsay
Lindsay, Victor would be the only one capable of moderating comments, and I don't think he's around right now: it might not have reached Friendfeed due to a network hiccup or something. Everyone's opinion should be welcome, but what you're saying isn't a possible interpretation of who God is to a Christian. The religion breaks down if you assume God is vindictive and petty. If someone purporting to be a Christian tells you that, they are misinformed. - Mark Trapp
Mark is it a sin not to be a Christian? Will I have to ask forgiveness for being a Buddhist? Heh. My religion has no punishment beyond that which one does to ones self. - Tad
Ok, well, I'll try again... I know plenty of Christians who believe that God will send you to Hell for eternity if you have even one unrepentant sin. In my opinion any God who would torture you for eternity for anything you did in the short ~80 year timespan you have on earth is being petty and vindictive. I'm not saying all Christians feel that way, but those who do worship a dictator god who is only worshipped out of fear. I feel sorry for those people. - Fa La La La Lindsay
@Mark - I've come across many Christians who feel the way Lindsay describes. - Yuvi
@Mark, the trick comes also in determining what's really a sin. The Bible has so many conflicting rules and gray-areas that I'm sure everyone sins even if they don't know it or they do but consider it to be inconsequential or even necessary in the long run (for "small" sins). If you aren't sorry for something you've done, and don't consider it a sin but, in God's view, it is, does that preclude you from receiving forgiveness and then sentence you to hell? Choosing a non-Christian religion is an example. - Fa La La La Lindsay
I had a conversation with a very religious Christian (non-denominational) guy I used to work with one time. He had some Bible quote on his desk that was kind of scary - something about being afraid of God. I asked him how God could be scary if he was omnibenevolent (all good). He said, well, maybe he's not all good. Then I asked why worship that? His answer was because his anger is mighty or something like that. No thanks. - Tad
Tad, different denominations have different interpretations, but for the Church, it makes no claims on what happens to people outside the Church. We simply don't know the full will of God. You could be saved, you could not be. It only makes a claim of what's a surefire way to be saved. Lindsay, it does a disservice to the majority of Christians who are informed of the basic articles of... more... - Mark Trapp
How many Catholics are in hell right now for eating meat on Friday? - Tad
also, just to point out... the internet is awesome! where else can you get a billboard to launch a thousand comments! (i don't mean that in a mocking sense) i really enjoy friendfeed and the conversations it provides! - Justin
Hooray for giving religion the finger after 9 years of catholic school! And I never looked back. - ::Kristen::
Tad, none. It's not a mortal sin. - Mark Trapp
I actually agree with Mark - that's my understanding of Christianity in its generic sense. I can't imagine Jesus himself condemning anyone to any sort of torture for any reason. That's just not my experience with how most Christians I've met act. - Tad
@Mark: +1. totally agree with you. - Alex Sauceda
@Tad Donaghe: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage...; It says there that those who say to abstain from certain foods (e.g. meat) are false teachers. - Jake (aka Jawee)
What's the distinction between mortal and not mortal? - Fa La La La Lindsay
@Mark, I grew up around Southern Baptists. They most definitely held the viewpoint I described. They are a significant mainstream segment of Christianity. Your viewpoint is in the minority of the Christians I have been exposed to. Not to say you're wrong, just to say, in my experience, most Christians do worship a god they fear and that seems very odd to me. - Fa La La La Lindsay
Simple actions don't damn you. Heck, God isn't even the one who damns you: you damn yourself. It's a state of mind: to know what God says, and then to flagrantly reject it. You can be confused, you can be misguided, you can just not understand what He says, or any number of things. What prevents you from being saved is to understand everything you need to and still say "No, I'm better... more... - Mark Trapp
@Mark back on after a break, I don't believe in deleting peoples comments. Haven't even blocked anyone yet. @Lindsay did you mean moral? - Victor Ryden
Mark, I assume you know of Pharyngula? http://scienceblogs.com/pharyng... ? - Yuvi
I respect what you believe, but I hope that you realize you're not speaking for ALL Christians or even necessarily the majority of them. I think if God were omnibenevolent he would even give the guy who rejected him for 80 years a ticket out of hell after suffering for 80 years. Eternity is a long time. No sin is worth an eternity in hell to an omnibenevolent god, but Hell is a one-way ticket. - Fa La La La Lindsay
@Lindsay, oh I see your context now - check out http://www.catholicdoors.com/faq... - Victor Ryden
Mark may not be speaking for ALL Christians and that's right, not all Christians have the same knowledge about GOD. - Alex Sauceda
Lindsay, I'm describing basic, unassailable tenets of Christianity. All Christians must accept them. In that sense, I am speaking for all Christians. If someone who purports to be a Christian tells you that they believe something contradictory to what I'm describing, they are, by definition, not Christian. Beware false prophets. - Mark Trapp
Why do Christians always have to capitalize GOD, if he see all, pretty sure he sees your misuse of the caps key. You guys are so cute living your lives by fairy tales ::pinches cheeks :: - sean percival
At the risk of throwing gasoline on a fire, the concept of "eternal" punishment is not exactly biblical. I only say this because I struggled with the same questions. Not all Christians believe this, but it's the kind of question that the God I believe in wants us to examine for ourselves, IMHO. - ha3rvey (Ho)^3
@Mark, I challenge you to go to Mississippi or any other southern US state and walk into a Baptist church and ask anyone there if they believe that God doesn't punish you for your sins in the way I have described. And if you find, as I expect, they disagree with you on the unassailable tenets, I challenge you to tell them they are not Christians. - Fa La La La Lindsay

wow, this just took me a while to read and folks got really into the whole religion debate! FF rocks doesn't it!! this is sooo cool!! I got kick out of the billboard sign and a much bigger kick out of the ensuing comments!! I believe in God and I do not believe he's petty or vindictive. That sounds more like RELIGION and the folks who peddle religion. I love God, not all those lame rules (judgments) which divide people and cause the church/religious folks to judge everybody...not good. - Susan Beebe
