“I always think that building furniture will be easy. 2 hours later, one bandaid used, and Megen asking me "When was your last tetanus shot" it's finally built.”
“deleting the new MT install that didn't work... I would have thought that after a couple years, the install process would be all wham-bam-wordpress, ma'am simple, but no. All the bad memories come rushing back.”
Be yourself. At least here and on Facebook. For your blog - call it whatever you like. I like the integrity and accountability of your "real" name for most services, but for a blog, being catchy helps. - Steve Isaacs
I've standardized on 'kenleyneufeld' - it didn't take to long to switch everything in that direction and I haven't run into any name conflicts. I think that is the key, finding something easy to remember and also unique. Facebook is the one anomaly because of different name scheme. - Kenley Neufeld
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm still undecided. Maybe a shortening to 'Foom' or 'Fooman' has been suggested. Incidentally Geoff, my name is Geoff too, so I'd still end up with a cool name :) ( http://www.new.facebook.com/ho... ) - Foomandoonian
Sarah, I didn't know about the Action Streams plugin, but I liked DavidRecordon website so much that I did my own c# script to generate something like that. http://www.alexsauceda.com - Alex Sauceda
Funny. I was searching Digg.com for this art... er post and leave a comment there. I typed in the beginning of the title "The Next Social Networks" and found one post in particular made end of last year (<a href="http://gigaom.com/2007/12/11/t..." target=_blank>click here</a>) titled: "The Next Social Network: WordPress".
Personally, after having played with Del.icio.us, Diigo, Facebook and whatnot, I recently came to the conclusion that sharing with no return/feedback from anybody has little meaning so when comments are better valued than 'clicks', 'diggs', 'votes', 'shares' whatever digg-like website can think of it will really mean the beginning of the construction of a social network. Until now I haven't seen much taking that direction.
Make people talk with each others instead of at each others. - lelapin

We should be able to choose who appears in the right hand "subscriptions" rail. The default uber-bloggers are a nice start, but its not a good representation of the user's friends, and it also makes it hard to find your own ACTUAL FRIENDS' FEEDS as you add more people. - Steve Isaacs
Maybe something like the way gmail does their chat list, - John

doesn't help that I thought that dude was a chick when I first saw it. Not that I don't appreciate manly beauty, but if you're expecting something else.... - W!cKeD Well Hung Librn
LOL...Was feeling nervous as hell thinking of an upcoming first date. But this...man, this makes me feel like somebody Clooney would be envious of... - Kamath ॐ
The HORROR!!! ... but sadly it is pure grace that the Tron nerd is not me. I thought of it once. Luckily, I thought better. - Brian Norwood
Wait a minute! Is that a bottle of Courvoisier? Perhaps he IS a Ladies Man.... - Brian Norwood
There's a map for Twitter. Too bad he didn't create one for friendfeed as a comparison. - Alan Le
You can generate the charts yourself. There isn't any data for friendfeed.com, but there is for friendfeed: http://www.google.com/insights... And this isn't Early Adopters vs. Mainstream. It's who used <name>.com versus those who didn't. You cannot make a claim on who used which. - Mark Trapp
You could build a small dog house out of those! - Soup
Wow Amy, you kind of freak me out cause I was thinking the EXACT same thing earlier. I mean down to it even being a dog house not just building something out of it. - Geoff Schultz
Gordon - I figure what the heck! Its only a website :) - (jeff)isageek
and what can i say I am a FriendFeed Junkie so it just seemed to be the right thing to do. hehe - (jeff)isageek
So forget blogging anymore, suck in the micro-blogs. interesting... - Chris
well i still have my blog @ http://www.jeffisageek.net/blo... and plan to still post there but i thought a front end with friendfeed would be kool and just something to tinker with. - (jeff)isageek
hehe. I was going to just redirect my blog to my FF postings. I'm lazy. Hence the idea to dump the blog in the first place. - Russell Holliman
would love to know how this is done (embedding a feed source I guess, but how do you clean it up?), also, can you mess with the stylesheet of the entries? I'm assuming that's the trick, but have no idea where to start. - Karl
The Yokway team is using twitter in order to keep our community informed with what's happening on the site, latest deployments, cool tips, new features or any news on what's going on @ Yokway. http://twitter.com/yokway - Stephan Osmont

Woah... excellent share :) thank you, thank you - Michael W. May
My dilemma: wget the whole thing or go through the database picking and choosing... the blog needs an rss feed too - Michael W. May
I know RSS would be great, doesn't look like he's a big on design, just an incredible collector who wanted to share his music. Wonder if he would be open to us helping him? - Nice Fish Films
This truly blows. Back to believing I gave up too much for a pretty crashtastic eye candy phone. - Jim Stanger
I'm pissed at myself for not grabbing it. - l0ckergn0me
seriously, I actually googled the Instinct from Sprint/Samsung. - Eric Rice
The quote from AT&T translates into "We haven't figured out a way to charge separately for iPhone tethering." or "We're working on a way to charge separately for tethering." US carriers have consistently blocked functionality in phones to nickel and dime their customers. This is nothing new. - Kenya
looks like i win again. JoikuSpot > NetShare =P - Louie
Surely it's down to the user not to break the T&Cs of their contract. Apple shouldn't decide that for you. A simple 'this may not be allowed under the terms of your contract' on the app's iTunes page would be enough. - Martin Bryant
I'm having fun using on JoikuSpot on my Nokia E90 to allow my iTouch to access the net when I'm away from a normal hotspot. :-) It also costs me a lot less to own an E90 + 3G data than the iPhone plans would cost me here in NZ. Over here, the iPhone would cost nearly NZ$7000 on the 2 year plan. I think JoikuSpot + iTouch wins completely. - Stephen Cropp
Does AT&T have Apple by the seeds or what? - TheMacMommy
It's nothing new, but the shiny toy factor helps get it into the open. Other things, like who really invented visual voicemail (sprint), no one will care about. - Eric Rice
i have it, and the light saber, but will apple try to take them away from me next update? :( - sean percival
Heh sean, yeah I'm really really really wanting to jailbreak (to get qik) but damn, i'm scared to - Eric Rice
My iphone never had this functionality, it just got it. Then i see products for sale, then no then yes then no then yes. So yeah, logically speaking, it is unreasonable. And the same griping should exist for broadcast flags, output control by the MPAA on TVs, and the reasonable expectation of functionality being nixed. - Eric Rice
I got the 3g, kicking myself for selling the old one. Now I have to wait longer for qik (doesnt run on 3g model). - sean percival
This is where someone inevitably brings up some straman like guns or cocaine, which is silly. We're talking about the class of consumer products with some functionality, or even more then some functionality, no wait we changed our minds. I'm glad car makers don't pull this shit that I can tell. - Eric Rice
Vincent: That's what the App Store is there for, son...to make the device extensible. That said, the iPhone has LESS functionality than I thought it would. I'm typing this on my desktop because Safari crashed twice while doing it on the phone. So yep, it sux when you get kicked in the balls with shoody tech as well as slapped in the face with the nickle-n-dime policies. My first Apple product in more than a decade, and if they don't get with it soon, my last. Where is your god now, Apple Fan Boyz?!? - Jim Stanger
so glad im waiting for android phones - Greg Bond
via twhirl
The shoddy tech is the constant crashing of my phone software, bro. Tethering is just the "...and the horse you rode in on." part. 3G disappears for no reason, battery life, yadda yadda. Google the rest, 'cause I'm just getting angry typing it all. Gee I'm cranky today. Quick, write something good. Cube Runner does rule. - Jim Stanger
That is COOL! Being relatively coordinated, I figured, PSSHHAW! but I'll be damned. I am totally going to bleed bet money out of people on this one. - Josh Haley
forcing it NOT to do it kinda makes me convulse - Eric Rice
@Yuvi yeah drawing an 8 is definitely wacky. Can't wait to use this with friends next week. - Annie Boccio
