Carjackers and bullet showers, a yellow sign, too many fools in power
But see… I will be gone by morning
My dear friend i lost a fight
Forget me. I wash my hands in your grey slowing night Coming down from darkened heights
I taste the Thames with my cycle lights
By Saint Paul’s, by Big Ben. By god’s name, i repent.
But see… i will be gone by morning
My dear London goodnight
Forget me, i wash myself in your grey river light

From the “Overseas and Overwhelmed” series on Pictory (which is kinda one of my favourite websites right now):

“After an amazing meal and a bottle of red wine in Orvieto, Italy, I explored the city’s narrow alleyways. I could hear faint music escaping from trattorias and coffee shops as the Umbria Jazz Festival buzzed along. Having grown up in the suburbs of northern Virginia (where it seems like everything was built in the last 20 years), I could hardly comprehend the age and character of a town that predates the Roman Empire.”

Another location from my Traveler post:
Once the Lord of The Rings crew wrapped up their last shot and moved out of New Zealand, they left behind a bourgeoning tourism industry built around the iconic movie locations. Hobbiton was one of the most recognizable sets in the film and the are still 17 (out of original 37) hobbit holes left in their natural state.

4 Movie Locations in Real World: Platform 9 ¾

My new PlanetEye Traveler post highlights tourist destinations borne out of the iconic locations of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Ghostbusters and Amelie.
Located in the Kings Cross Station, this installation references the secret train platform that the kids from Harry Potter used to get to Hogwarts.
In reality, Rowling got her train stations confused, as there is no platform between tracks 9 & 10 in Kings Cross. In the movies, the producers just renumbered the tracks 4 & 5, while in this real life photo-op, they glued a piece of a shopping cart to the wall.

“Sunday Morning Coming Down” by Johnny Cash

Happy Sunday everyone!
Well I woke up Sunday morning,
With no way to hold my head that didn’t hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn’t bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes,
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
An’ I shaved my face and combed my hair,
An’ stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.
….
On the Sunday morning sidewalk,
Wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
‘Cos there’s something in a Sunday,
Makes a body feel alone.
And there’s nothin’ short of dyin’,
Half as lonesome as the sound,
On the sleepin’ city sidewalks:
Sunday mornin’ comin’ down.
