"Hi Corvida! long time no blog....:-( The reason for me is I have just finished school and started work! The plus side of that is that my job is that of eLearning Support Officer at my local University in the UK and a major aspect of the work will be to investigate Web 2.0 concepts and applications to see how they can be applied to Higher Ed. This is rather a new concept for the UK Higher Education mainstream (certainly out in the backwaters, if not in the big cities) and I am currently developing a social network for staff to share ideas, thoughts, best practice and so on in eLearning, using the Ning platform. This will be quite radical for some staff members, so I will be reporting back on my experiences and findings over the coming weeks and months on ffynnonweb.com Any hints, tips and so on are always warmly welcomed and appreciated by me! If anyone reckons another platform may be better suited, please let me know. I like Ning at the moment because you can make a private network..." - Julia
"Re shorter posts- you could well be right.....but it sort of breaks the flow of the story somehow, when I wanted to tell a story in several chapters. Maybe there should have been more chapters, perhaps?" - Julia
"I rarely if ever, receive blog comments. I used to think that folk werent reading my blog (perhaps they are'nt!) but my Twitter followers are increasing steadily as are my contacts on mybloglog even if my subscribers are few, so someone must read/like me somewhere..lol
It must also be said that having posted several related and rather lengthy blog posts concerning my dissertation, I am now taking a bit of a break before starting a newish topic (elearning and social media in education) which is the career direction I am hoping to follow in the autumn, so hopefully that subject will attract some new interest." - Julia

"Great post Louis and with lots of food for thought for those of us just starting out in the new blogosphere (if not the web itself, in my case).
It is very helpful to receive some guidance, as the likelihood of some of us offending or putting our metaphorical foot in it, is quite high in the beginning!! It can be a bit chastening or upsetting to be pulled up for these things, so it is better to know and understand the 'netiquette' as soon as possible.
I gather you have just become a father, so many congratulations to you." - Julia
"My Union has a strong presence on Facebook and you have to join our college network using your college email so you can be verified. I dont think the college staff themselves post on these places yet though. On the positive side, they are hoping to increase awareness of social media as they develop their elearning provision so there is hope that things will improve shortly." - Julia
