Best to you, Johnny my boy!! <3 Georgia's got a pretty good one. :)
- Derrick
Happy Fathers Day, Johnny, each year my princess gives me a beautiful photo of herself, an awesome hand-crafted card and if I've been really good . . . a block of chocolate . . . I thank god that some one loves me . . .
- Chris Loft
Happy Father's Day from the West Coast of teh United States. I hear what you're saying and agree: my daughter is 3y 4mo and is, like yours, the BEST. PRESENT. EVER.

Every professor's wildest dream...or nightmare.
- Josh Haley
She kept giving him a way to not be an ass, he didn't pick up on it.
- claudia
The TA handled it well. I wonder if he let the professor know what was going on
- Shevonne
Are there pics of the student? Just to know how easy it was for the TA, lol :-)
- Björn Brembs
Yeah, such a pic would've been nice..
- TrafficBug
Zee, I really like the bottombar on your site. Did you guys make that? It's state-of-the-art!
- Richard Walker
... and adding a pic would *not* have improved this thread. I mean sure it is entertaining to gauge the temptation level but realistically the pic would get back to Caroline and further screw up her life.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
I'm very sad about this. Before leaving for work I sat Orion down and gave him "The Talk". I told him we loved him and that he was going to go to an awesome home soon and he'd be with them forever, that he is an awesome lovey kitten, and to know that we always love him. Yes, I really do this for each kitten we foster, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. As for Orion, he's such an instant purr bucket who doesn't mind being held that he'll find a new home almost instantly.
- Kevin Fox
Wow, that was FAST! Glad to hear he's ready to go find his perma-home now!
- FFing Enigma
Thanks Aden & Anna! Tina, yeah, it was two weeks. He was already about 6 weeks when we got him and we want to get him out the door as soon as possible to maintain maximum cuteness for adoption. He was quite social when we got him, all we had to do was build trust and he just blossomed, he weight was the only issue we ever had and he has totally bulked up. I wish I could keep him another week, but that would just be keeping him from his new home. He should be up for adoption by this Thursday or Friday.
- Rachel Lea Fox
*hugs and sniffles* I talk to my kitties and my dog that way too. If I'm going to be gone for the weekend or all day.
- Yolanda
Sorry I only had time for a short visit w/ a nervous kitty!
- Paul Wilcox
Paul, he's not nervous. He is actually one of the most mellow we have had. Doesn't even jump if I'm holding him and start sneezing. We were all just in a hurry and he had just been let out of his pen and just wanted to run.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Kudos for being foster parents! You're good eggs! Orion is so adorable. Go forth, little man! Be great! :)
- Sarah Lane
Thanks Sarah. Orion is playing the "be as cute as possible so they won't take me back" card by laying on me while I work and purring up a storm. Sadly we have to go in about 20 minutes. :(
- Rachel Lea Fox
It must be sad to part with the little kitty but you obviously are very caring and are ensuring he goes to a good home. I wish there were many more people like you. You have my respect and admiration.
- Kevin J Hatton
Kevin, we do it as much for our own benefit and for our adult cats as we do it for the kittens. Of course the goal is to get the kittens healthy, socialized and adoptable but they give back so much love and laughter and fun. and they remind our two adult cats to be kittens themselves, and they become more active, playful and cuddly when the kittens are around and just after they have...

- Rachel Lea Fox
Did you make it mandatory that the new family post pics to Friendfeed? Sounds like a reasonable 'condition' ??
- Charlie Anzman
Rachel, is your hair different or is it just me?
- Mona Nomura
wow black kitty ..really cute with those green eyes ...
- Viva Vida
oooo I saw the title now :( so sorry ....
- Viva Vida
Mona, actually I was thinking the same thing after I took the photo. It's not different, just a bad hair day I think. And maybe the light was different, I don't know. Hopefully it will be back to normal tomorrow.
- Rachel Lea Fox
Sick and Tired, no worries. I miss him quite a bit, but he will have a wonderful home himself very soon and we will get more kitties to fill the gap in our hearts. I don't think we will have too long to wait on the more kittens, but we shall see.
- Rachel Lea Fox
He's sure to attract lovely owners! I'm glad you and Kevin have so much love to give all these kitties.
- Anne Bouey
He had his operation this morning, so he will be up for adoption by Friday or Saturday. He went on a weight gaining spree the last week we had him. Gained about 11oz and that is with me cutting his food way way back from what he was getting when we were trying to bulk him up. A bunch was muscle too I'm sure as he was running around and playing like crazy. I hope he gets a new home this weekend.
- Rachel Lea Fox
ty! we had a last minute glitch with the name - a late entrant is proving more formidable than we imagined so we are having to weigh the two finalists against one another hmmm will it be Oprah Talula Nunez or Madonna Cher Nunez...such tough choices
- Marco(aureliusmaximus)
Don't do what one person did, the husband Twittered his entire wedding ceremony and dinner! Enjoy the moment. Maybe you can designate someone to Twitter the wedding, so you have a wedding photographer, wedding videographer, and wedding Twitterer!
- Alvin
@debng I don't believe in social media experts. The way social media moves, there's no way to be an expert in it, but you can be an enthusiast! Measuring someone's success rate as a SM enthusiast means knowing their motivations and what interests them about SM; it's not about qualifications, etc.
I think somebody *can* be a social media expert, and I define such an expert as an individual that can get a community interested in something. There are just ever-changing ways to accomplish this.
- Rishabh Mishra (p248)
I think there are too may self-proclaimed "social media experts." Maybe it's just me, but it seems like every other non-spammer who follows me on Twitter is one. There aren't THAT many in the world.

"Some of the new features that have been added to Open Office 3.1 are antialiased drawings to smooth the edges of graphics, replying to notes, improved grammar checking, hyperlink management and sorting, control of slideshow media, macro support for Open Office Base, relative database paths, better internationalization for Hebrew and Arabic plus performance improvements (read our Speed up Open Office article for even more tips on how to improve the speed and performance)."

Nice, I use this at home a lot but do run into some problems porting it over to Word regarding footnotes, hope thats fixed in this version
- Mark Edmondson
I don't know about you guys, but I like Office 2007 UI. I find it to be very easy to navigate and use. OpenOffice feels like MS Office's ugly brother, but I am sure it will get better in time.
- Artem Daniliants
from IM
please tell me when am I getting the ribbon UI?
- Lakshman Prasad
I'm with Artem above. MSO2K7 FTW. MS is miles ahead of OO.o in terms of UI. It's worth paying for IMO.
- LANjackal
O2K7's ribbon UI is really, really confusing for people who've grown up with 2k3 and prior. I can understand that for many tasks it can be faster over time, but I see people all over my school and various offices who bumble through the menus every single time even after 2 years of use. That + .docx etc. in environments where you can't install the compatibility pack = angry users
- mjc
did they add the view/outline with complete features? Is the only reason I still use Word....I am ready to switch if they did
- bonuck (e gli associati?)
thanks for the hint. Time for another huge download, I assume
- Thorsten Matzner
Thorsten, I guess. I remember I had to download the whole thing last time they released any update. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
I've sworn off menus thanks to the ribbon in MS Office 2007. It's so much easier to find and remember where functionality is than in 2K3, it's not even funny.
- Chieze Okoye
Cool! This means that the Mac port NeoOffice is going to get even better! It has worked well for me since last August, and has never crashed or caused anyone using MS Office to see any weird formatting from my end. UI-wise, iWork is just splendid though, and I'm going to ante up for the full paid version rather than the 1 month trial one of these days.
- Siddharth Deb
Love OO. Just want them to have a version of publisher.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
I love Open Office...Well open source-period. But those guys have allowed me to be a professional without having to rely upon MS. Thanks for letting us know about this, I plan to head over and download mine this week!
- Benin Brown
I just said they didn't I. Look the reason why o have so mich rme to write this garbage..is because my lady loves the loo. So unfortunately, you guys are left with my ramblings every hour or so :)
- Zee.
"This is always the first thing I say whenever discussing flower photography, and this is the biggest mistake beginners make. Fine, you’re taller than the plant! But that does not mean you have to always look down on the flower and shoot that way. Kneel down and shoot from the level of the flower. Move around, try different angles. Of course, shooting down can also give great results at times"
- Kol Tregaskes
from Bookmarklet
I have to agree. Flower photography is similar to photographing children. It is important to get to their level in both cases to get a different perspective and memorable shots.
- Dilip Dand
"This is the second year we have chives growing in the garden and I wondered one day: Can we do something with the flowers? I know about edible flowers such as calendula, violets, and nasturtiums, but I've never tried using chive blossoms. So I checked around the Web and learned here that they can be used in salads. And here I found a recipe for Chive Blossom Vinegar, which I decided to try."

Now I want to grow chives just so I can make pink vinegar!

I've had another evil thought: I could make black raspberry vinaigrette using chive blossom vinegar. OK, now I'm drooling...

If you're a freelancer/contractor or anything along those lines...for the love of God, stop what you're doing and watch this. http://www.centernetworks.com/tech-vi...
Love it, but I'd love to see the video in reverse as well;-). "Oh yeah, that project you paid for? I'll get it to you six months from now." "But you said it would be done this week." "I did?"
- Brandon Mendelson
That's hilarious. Been burned so many times like that.
- Rah-PM 2012
Zee, how did you know 2 people had viewed it?
- Kol Tregaskes
Yup. Pretty classic stuff. Once I got hired to write quests and backstory, ended up designing classes and level progression as well with no added charge, all because I was noob and wanted to be nice
- Neal "thePuck" Jansons
from IM
Yeah, pretty classic, especially the bit about ordering multiple entrees and only eating one, and thinking that means they only have to pay for one.'

This is like "Spinal Tap" for freelancers.

Thank you everyone!!! I couldn't be more excited! My cheeks hurt from smiling so much today. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat too. It was so awesome!!! He/She is due on December 8th. Thank you all for the love and support! =)
- David Cook
OMG Congrats David!!!!! And as a side note, if FF turns into the magic baby bringing social media site, I might have to cut back a little ;-)
- FFing Enigma
@Mostafa Lameei, yes this will be the first one. I have a lot of close people with kids to go to for advice though. I'm ready for him or her. ;)
- David Cook
Congrats David, I promise I won't comment on the current machine settings used, okay I will...person has the gain way too high for the posterior portion of the image. I am soooo anal about these things. Give me their number, I will make certain your next pics are better.
- Janet-The Bottley Crue
Great for you and the momma! All the best ~ it's such an exciting time!!!!
- Lori
Brilliant. I should get myself one if these, just with "City of London" instead of the Muni Logo..could be very handy over here.
- Mike Hellers
That's much nicer than the fake photography permits I created for my kids and me.
- Dave Roth
I want one of these. And I'm not even a photographer. Well done.
- Micah Monserrat
seriously.. why kind of stock do you print these on? I guess you could laminate
- Sean Reiser
Print it on card stock, use two pieces of heavy weight plastic laminate sheeting, and then use Wet'n'Wild iridescent nail polish to simulate the holographic images on most IDs. Or so I've heard...
- FFing Enigma
So is being intelligent and reasonable and truly interested. I think being open to different points of view is critical otherwise the discussion becomes black and white.
- Steve Olson
Some of the "jokes" are not jokes at all but nasty attacks dismissed by poster as a "joke."
- Michael Tefft
Yeah, I left after 3 or 4 days the first time I came on here because I got into a political discussion I should never have bothered commenting on anyway. Hated friendfeed for ages after that and then decided to give it another try. This time around I'm subbed to some pretty lovely and interesting people. Still need to work on my skin though :) Or just lay off the discussions altogether if I'm feeling heated!
- Charley M
Replace "friendfeed" with "anywhere on the internet" and it still holds true.
- Eric P
I've always wondered if hyper-sensitive people think that communicating on the internet will be easier, since they don't need to be face-to-face with people. But, the reality is that it is often more difficult b/c tone/voice can be hard to read. There are jerks online and IRL and they both prey on weakness.
- Katy S
Katy, thats exactly what I thought. Then I realized that talking face to face *was* actually the easiest way for me to communicate. I seem to have far more confidence online though.
- Charley M
Charlie - it's something I'm acutely aware of, because I teach and study writing. I see so much of these issues in my students' papers - not "getting" how their words might come across to others, making jokes that don't come across, etc. However, I suspect most people don't think about it as much as I do.
- Katy S
Define joke? One person's joke is another person's insult
- rowlikeagirl
If one's person joke is your insult, then I submit that you aren't thickskinned enough to be on the internets.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
*blocks pea for ranting at alex and alex for failing to get it* =D
- FFing Enigma
I love how I say one thing and it gets extruded in to this whole other idea like a block of copper that was meant to be an expensive brick that instead gets turned in to wire for making car airbags.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
I'm grinning like an idiot now Pea. Needed that!
- FFing Enigma
That's only because you don't get what you say, Alex....
- David HC Soul
Pardon me sir, but I always get my own jokes! You take that back!
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
So, uh, what exactly IS a troll as defined by Friend Feeders? (assuming Trish is referring to the same post I read)
- Jess
Everyone has been uber polite to me in general, only one person has ticked me off in the time that I have been here, unsubbed in under 10 seconds, and ignored period. I find most everyone here polite. Guess I am missing the controversy. Dang. ;-)
- Dan owns Comicsforge.com
Dan, if you want, I can help you create some on your own feed.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
And thick skin doesn't mean you have to put up with assholes either. But there's a difference between people having fun on a thread that goes against the grain of your conversation and someone being an asshole.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
@Alex - I am sure you can do that, and by all means feel free to say what you want. If you come up with something new I'll give you a prize. I have heard it all from my upbringing, to how I breath. Even been called lame by Robert Scoble :-) and still hanging in there. :-)
- Dan owns Comicsforge.com
Hehe, Dan, sorry but it sounded like you wanted some controversy in your life.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
I'm on friendfeed because I DO give a crap what other people think. Even Alex!
- Vicarbott
Now that's scary enough to unplug from the internets...
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
I'm with dan i've avoided 90% of controversy probably because I avoid the politics stuff, but then I have managed to use Block for the first time in a year each of the last two days. I wouldn't blame everyone though it's either them or me or more likely the combination of the two. And actually I agree with Jim's thought I do care what people think but don't particularily worry about what they think about me. PS I'm probably a troll. Damn it all.
- SteVe C
@alex, no worries, I was trying to be funny and see if you could top what I have experienced in 7 years of blogging. You have to develop a thick skin when you blog, you have no choice. Same holds true for social networking. If you can not develop a thick skin, then maybe social networking might not be the right choice for you. Or you need to keep your social networking small amongst people you know (and even then that won't help when there is a personality blow out).
- Dan owns Comicsforge.com
Some of the biggest controversies you can get in to on the internets have nothing to do with politics. Some people are very very protective about their brands for instance, pretty much to the point of religion.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
What? People are sensitive? NO! What happened!? I went to bed, kids were skipping hand in hand down the lollipop streets and now? It's one-dozen shivs a second and a taste of blood to boot! What a world...
- ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
It's that brown stuff (at least in your case) that is holding you together.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
You're wrong, Alex, I'm held together by hair and thin viscous fluids
- Mike Nayyar
Well, you'd die without your skin nonetheless, Mike...and really you wouldn't work at all. It would be quite messy.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
Sorry Rutger i'm a complete asshat in public, worse than on here. I randomly throw headbutts around and bite puppies and newborns.
- SteVe C
Oh, it's messy already. Quite messy.
- Mike Nayyar
Outside of the dreaded election campaign, I think I've only offended in one conversation, and that was because I recently joked about religion. I don't offend easily myself, knowing full well that individuals find themselves totally empowered to say just about anything when their hands are hovering over a keyboard. I've only blocked one individual due to a sudden name-calling frenzy against myself and one of my friends here.
- JCunwired
I got a thick head. Does that count? :D
- Steven Perez
I haven't been on FF much these past couple of weeks. Since I started my new job and am much busier, I'm finding it harder to justify coming here to be called names by your brother, etc. I used FF to kill time, and now I have no time to kill! :)
