I'm very sad about this. Before leaving for work I sat Orion down and gave him "The Talk". I told him we loved him and that he was going to go to an awesome home soon and he'd be with them forever, that he is an awesome lovey kitten, and to know that we always love him. Yes, I really do this for each kitten we foster, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. As for Orion, he's such an instant purr bucket who doesn't mind being held that he'll find a new home almost instantly.

Thanks Aden & Anna! Tina, yeah, it was two weeks. He was already about 6 weeks when we got him and we want to get him out the door as soon as possible to maintain maximum cuteness for adoption. He was quite social when we got him, all we had to do was build trust and he just blossomed, he weight was the only issue we ever had and he has totally bulked up. I wish I could keep him another week, but that would just be keeping him from his new home. He should be up for adoption by this Thursday or Friday.

He had his operation this morning, so he will be up for adoption by Friday or Saturday. He went on a weight gaining spree the last week we had him. Gained about 11oz and that is with me cutting his food way way back from what he was getting when we were trying to bulk him up. A bunch was muscle too I'm sure as he was running around and playing like crazy. I hope he gets a new home this weekend.

@debng I don't believe in social media experts. The way social media moves, there's no way to be an expert in it, but you can be an enthusiast! Measuring someone's success rate as a SM enthusiast means knowing their motivations and what interests them about SM; it's not about qualifications, etc.

O2K7's ribbon UI is really, really confusing for people who've grown up with 2k3 and prior. I can understand that for many tasks it can be faster over time, but I see people all over my school and various offices who bumble through the menus every single time even after 2 years of use. That + .docx etc. in environments where you can't install the compatibility pack = angry users

I've sworn off menus thanks to the ribbon in MS Office 2007. It's so much easier to find and remember where functionality is than in 2K3, it's not even funny.

Cool! This means that the Mac port NeoOffice is going to get even better! It has worked well for me since last August, and has never crashed or caused anyone using MS Office to see any weird formatting from my end. UI-wise, iWork is just splendid though, and I'm going to ante up for the full paid version rather than the 1 month trial one of these days.

Print it on card stock, use two pieces of heavy weight plastic laminate sheeting, and then use Wet'n'Wild iridescent nail polish to simulate the holographic images on most IDs. Or so I've heard...

Yeah, I left after 3 or 4 days the first time I came on here because I got into a political discussion I should never have bothered commenting on anyway. Hated friendfeed for ages after that and then decided to give it another try. This time around I'm subbed to some pretty lovely and interesting people. I've always wondered if hyper-sensitive people think that communicating on the internet will be easier, since they don't need to be face-to-face with people. But, the reality is that it is often more difficult b/c tone/voice can be hard to read. There are jerks online and IRL and they both prey on weakness.

Charlie - it's something I'm acutely aware of, because I teach and study writing. I see so much of these issues in my students' papers - not "getting" how their words might come across to others, making jokes that don't come across, etc. However, I suspect most people don't think about it as much as I do.

@alex, no worries, I was trying to be funny and see if you could top what I have experienced in 7 years of blogging. You have to develop a thick skin when you blog, you have no choice. Same holds true for social networking. If you can not develop a thick skin, then maybe social networking might not be the right choice for you. Or you need to keep your social networking small amongst people you know (and even then that won't help when there is a personality blow out).

I don't offend easily myself, knowing full well that individuals find themselves totally empowered to say just about anything when their hands are hovering over a keyboard. I've only blocked one individual due to a sudden name-calling frenzy against myself and one of my friends here.

I haven't been on FF much these past couple of weeks. Since I started my new job and am much busier, I'm finding it harder to justify coming here to be called names by your brother, etc. I used FF to kill time, and now I have no time to kill! :)
