photographer and web tech newbie. I want to be the middleman between those that know about web tech and those that don't know but need to, like friends on Fbook
Google Chrome is in effect on my Mac. However I cannot import my bookmarks! The option is grayed out and cannot be selected. (>_<)
i'll never own it, but i will own some lenses. seriously, when will another camera company realize that the M-mount is a severely underdeveloped DIGITAL market just waiting to be tapped?!!!

I'll never buy either of these, but maybe it will spur some cheaper models from other manufacturers.
- John (a.k.a. dendroica)
exactly, Zeiss Ikon, Voigtlander, Cosina, ANYBODY!!! We will give you good money for a realistically priced competitor, but we won't pay Leica prices. Leica's have poor resale (compared to MSRP) and digital cameras have an even worse resale. Can you imagine what the M8 will sell for now compared to retail!
- Marco
read the speech that Pres. Obama will give to students and... it's really good. Heck, even I'M motivated!
Canon G9 with 12mp announced Aug07, G10 with 14mp announced Sept08... the G11, announced Aug09, with 10mp! I'll be honest, Canon, i like the way your thinking.
more is not better, BETTER is better. LESS megapixels means the actual pixels are BIGGER allowing them to perform well when the gain (sensitivity) is increased.

ronin, not better per se but if this rumor is correct then the 60D is more aimed at my needs: "60D may see a megapixel decrease. There will be new emphasis on image quality, noise control and dynamic range." via http://www.canonrumors.com/2009...
- Marco
18mp is too much for me. sub 12mp is where i want to stay with cropped sensors.
- Marco
@Deakins Don't you have a K10D? This body is larger than the K10D.
- ronin
@Marco That would be interesting if they do do that for the XXD line.
- ronin
Wow in the pic it does not look like it. It is a great camera anyway.

VIDEO SCREEN IN A MAGAZINE! Entertainment Weekly September 18th issue to have a small interactive video screen in the magazine! – The Next Web - http://thenextweb.com/2009...
Leica... overpriced? I am not neglecting the quality of the product, it is the highest. However, the M7 costs $4500 new and the optics often cost the same...
Those Leica captured images are sprinkled with fairy dust though... seriously!
- Adrian
Ziess Ikon, wonderful camera. Voigtlaender is another option... both have the same mount as Leica.
- Marco
Here is a new M7 on eBay selling for $2500, $2000 dollars below retail. i think the value of the Leica as a camera is much lower than the value of the brand. http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-N...
- Marco
The Zeiss Ikon sounds great. This is all so out of my range of possibility at the moment. I just picked up an Olympus OM-1 a couple of months ago and love it. Quite compact for an SLR and Zuiko optics are nice, though far from the world of Leicas and Zeisses.
- Adrian
that is a nice camera, Olys feel so well built. i have an Oly XA rangefinder, love it! here is a pic of the Canonet rangefinder i carry: http://marcoj.soup.io/post...
- Marco
Yeah Leica's are definitely nice cams but their prices are mind-boggling.
- ronin
Leica's are like photography heaven. You strive to eventually get there.
- Adrian
Nice Marco, I dig that Canonet! The Oly OM-1 I have is from 1976, and it's mint. OM-1's major claim to fame is that it was the astrophotography camera of choice for many, many years. Takes good earthbound photos too. :)
- Adrian
i love the idea of a wide-angle rangefinder. am i wrong in saying that the rangefinder is still a good choice for the photojournalist in rural areas or "hotspots" around the globe?

i want to find out what the average modern Leica is selling for on eBay. where do you think i should look? i have a suspicion they sell for a fraction of retail.
"All major American publications’ frontpages are subjected to this ‘fair use’,..." saw this and i thought it would be a nice addition to Flickr debate. no agenda on this site, just nice historical briefs on important images.

I did mine a few times and each time it changed drastically. It's supposed to show you how you could be viewed online, not how you really are. It can't tell the difference between people with the same name. If they put a location factor in it, it might make it a little better.

FriendF-cked! "We’ve heard from one source that, like the 2007 Parakey acquisition, the deal is largely a talent acquisition by Facebook, and less about the Friendfeed product. Friendfeed has 12 employees, and all but one are engineers." from TechCrunch not good at all. :(
- Marco
Ozgur, I think you meant "perfectly cluttered."
- Bryan Zirkel
>Twitter = dead to me. There is no way we can continue using a site that removes 60,000 tweets without a single world. That simple fact will encourage me never to use twitter again. Facebook is perfect for chatting with friends we've known a decade or two. Friendfeed is just there.

Robert Scoble brought Screenjelly to my attention but now Mashable is telling me about Screenr! Who will i use?
I already tried Screenjelly, gonna give Screenr a shot. Screenr seems optimized for Twitter, which i don't use, but has 2 more minutes of recording time. 3min vs. 5min, is that what it comes down too?

"The Canon's PowerShot S90 appears to represent exactly the sort of compact we like - a bright lens, good screen and easy access to a selection of manual controls. Then we discovered the control ring around the lens and thought it worth publishing our first impressions. Click here to have a read of our brief hands-on with Canon's latest photographers' compact."

i just gave a Reese's Pieces to each of my dogs. Thor chewed it to much delight having unleashed its encapsulated power. Heydee swallowed it whole and was vexed by the pointlessness of accepting my gift.
Nice colors and sharpening. That skylight is beautiful. i live in Arizona, harshest light ever. What do you shoot with?
- Marco
I think that one was just a Canon P&S with a little post-processing in Aperture. Usually, I shoot with a Nikon D90, though.
- Rick Cogley
I'm very uninformed about both dogs and Reese's but don't they contain chocolate which is toxic to dogs?
- Stephen Mack
from iPhone
Reese's Pieces have a hard candy shell around a peanut buttery filling. Coco is not on the ingredients list, i checked ;)
- Marco
it is toxic, typically it is the more rich dark chocolate. the funny (and tragic) thing is that dogs love it! Heydee has done some crazy stuff to get my chocolate! she obviously lived.
- Marco
Yeah, my golden "chacha" will eat anything. Including rope and stuff she really should not eat!
- Rick Cogley
Yeah, Marco, that shot was taken with a PowerShot A710 IS, a pretty good little P&S. The skylight was a lucky break. The silhouette of our buildings is in her eyes, so it looks like I planned it! :-)
- Rick Cogley
i love that series of camera. i owned a A540 and learned basic photo on it. was looking to get the A590IS but Canon discontinued it. it now sells way above the original retail of $130.
- Marco
The A710 was my company's, officially, so I got the waterproof Canon PowerShot that just came out instead. It's really nice. Works really well underwater, which is surprisingly difficult to do.
- Rick Cogley
I know, I must be invisible! That's gotta be the reason...
