If you are in the market for the long run, this is a BUY opportunity. If everyone continues to sell, the snowball will continue to grow. Find the strong companies and be ready to watch the market flux. I'm putting more money into the market in the next few days.
Am I wrong? Opinions? - Justin Korn
Agree, now if I only had the time to find the strong companies... - ronin
You're not wrong. Long term you are right. It's the short term (next two years) that could get pretty uncomfortable. There is potentially more pain on the downside. I would take a dollar-cost-averaging approach to coming back into the market. (IE, if you have $10,000 to come back in, put $1,000 in every month). That will protect your $10,000. You might miss some gains, but you might miss a lot of pain too. - Robert Scoble
I think you're right, Justin... Wish I was one of the lucky ones who had the extra money sitting around enough to invest. - Lindsay is in 20-ten
S which tech companies are STRONG?? - Simon May
I wish I had money to do that with. - Mathew™ one of a kind
Even if you don't have the money to invest, but you have money in the market, as long as your investments are in solid companies, don't panic. Panicking will only fuel the "depression" further. - Justin Korn
If you have any cash lying around. It's good advice overall, but right now its very volatile. All should be very careful on what they buy into. Flight to quality. - Eric @ CSTechcast.com
@Robert - Good advice. This is actually investing 101. You should never invest $10,000 all at once, but rather spread it out over 10 months at 1,000 per month or 20 months even at $500 per month. - Justin Korn
Yes, the smart buy when everyone else is panicking. - Daniel Miessler
Agreed. Every pull-back is a buying opportunity for solid investments. We've all said at one time, "If I only bought _____ when it was at $_____." There are a lot of those right now and I agree with Robert's method of buying in small chunks. - Andrew Smith
Couldn't agree more Justin, my companys Stock Purchase plan period just ended and as an employee I immediately get 15% over my initial investment. I've cashed out and am reinvesting into the market. With many stocks so depressed now's the time to make a great buy. - Steve Sebestyen from twhirl
Buy stock in companies that are the purveyors of cheap vices. - stretta from twhirl
If you don't have time to pick stocks, use ETFs or index funds. However, I see 3 more years of ARM resets so I'd proceed with caution for at least the next 2 years. - Morton Fox
