Re: Recharging and Disconnecting - http://justinrlevy.com/2011...
"That was great getting to see you that day! It was an absolutely incredible time that's hard to imagine we were just there a few weeks ago! I agree and that's exactly where I have difficulty with disconnecting because if I'm taking a break from doing work then I'm consuming media or catching up with friends. But, I'm increasingly taking more evenings or weekend days off than I used to. One of the prime reasons is my travel schedule. If I've been gone for a few days or more, that first night or weekend day that I get home I typically am completely offline hanging out with my wife and dog. That has been a great equalizer for me." - Justin Levy

"I definitely agree that there is an addiction aspect to it because I've felt the same way that you describe the couple times that I've totally disconnected. Also, what's hard, as Jason mentions, is that completely disconnecting is difficult when it's your business, social life and source of media consumption. That's the reason I like the sailing trips, though, because unless you go on vacation with those friends, you would be totally disconnected from those things even if they were in the offline world." - Justin Levy

Re: The Klout Myth and Living Above The Influence - http://www.disqus.com/people...
"Excellent post, Dan. I love, love your two questions regarding your Klout score with your spouse and kids! I know there are some people that get really hard on Klout about how and what they measure. I'm not one of them. Kudos to Klout for at least trying to put some type of system into place to measure influence beyond just how many Twitter followers one has. I like the tool just like I appreciate and use several other tools including Twitter Grader, TweetStats, and other similar websites. However, I don't fret if I fluctuate a few numbers up or down. That's not going to stop how I use the services like Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. These tools such as Klout help to provide me baselines and data points to compare against. But, as David mentioned in his comment, we can become so focused on the number that we forget the actions behind those numbers." - Justin Levy

"I can so understand where you're coming from because I've had to hit the "reset" button a few times over the past couple years and then finally had to make a change to taking more time to focus on projects that I wanted to move forward that weren't specifically work related, such as writing on my blog. I've been plugging that time back into my schedule because it is what helps to keep me focused, sharp and passionate. It can sometimes be hard since in this world there is so much blurring of the lines. Of course, there are dual-benefits, at times, but you have to make sure you're taking time for the things that you enjoy. What I always try remembering is that doing all of those things is what helped me progress to the point that I'm at so to give them up because of work-related responsibilities wouldn't make sense. There are times that work requires you're completely devoted attention and life has to be put to the side for a period of time but never forget to come back it pick it back..." - Justin Levy

Re: How and Why I Still Devour Blogs - http://www.ducttapemarketing.com/blog...
"I love that you covered consuming blogs on a regular basis. I never understood when, throughout last year, there were a lot of people that said they were ditching using a RSS reader and replacing it strictly with Twitter. I use information from Twitter as a supplement to reading RSS feeds. I find reading blogs very valuable for all of the reasons you mentioned above. I also find it valuable to my followers because I can serve as the curator for them of interesting posts. Since I share a lot of articles while consuming feeds, I have all of those shares post to an automated Twitter account (@jlevymedia) so that people can follow just that account if they want a constant news stream." - Justin Levy

Re: A Plan Is Not A Promise – Guest Post - http://www.disqus.com/people...
"I love the analogies you make of plans being "a hallway lined with doors" and plans being either "made of dough or steel." I had never thought of plans in either of those ways but you're dead on. I always think of my plans as being dough-like. Making plans, both short- and long-term, helps me to organize my thoughts and set a course. They are more like my navigational system or a series of waypoints to help guide my actions. But, you have to embrace the potential for change and opportunities that will develop from executing those plans. It can become a dangerous path and you can miss out on an opportunity if you think of your plans as unbendable steel. Thanks for getting my brain going so early this AM :)" - Justin Levy
