Any citizen "witness" can record an event, answering the "who, what, when, where and how." A journalist goes beyond this to seek out the all-important "why." - Justin Long

A witness can answer who, what, when, where, how. Journalists go beyond this to ask why. For a blogger to be more than a simple witness he must go with depth into the "why" of an event. I have not yet watched the video but want to. - Justin Long via Bookmarklet

Evangelism is a way to gain unbelievers to God. We cannot evangelize without prayer. Prayer is the key ingredient in evangelism; we must pray before, during and after we tell others about Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Fasting is choosing to remove the distractions, giving the Lord God our full attention and asking him to be at work as we evangelize. Combining prayer with fasting connects the natural to the supernatural. - Justin Long via Bookmarklet

Doesn't this sound like a Bond flick? maybe before the reboot? I could just see some semi-crazed world-dominator: "give me ten zillion dollars in chinese yen or my balloons will bring instant snow to your country." "Projecting" means the exit polls are determined to be definitive enough to "make a projection" that the vote count will be in favor of a candidate. "Calling" means current vote count is determined to be definitive enough to "call the sate" for a candidate. - MikeAmundsen

Gob of statistics related to IMB workers. - Justin Long via Bookmarklet
Interesting statistics, seem to indicate that baptisms and conversions are purchased using dollars! The counter factual would be interesting to know - how many baptisms might there have been if the money had not been spent? Good work for someone to put such stats together! - Jim Harries
I think its more of an argument that its better to invest $ in missions where there is more responsiveness than necessarily at home where responsiveness is less? Note the comparison with US $ per baptism! - Justin Long
You are right. But - statistics can still be a bit misleading. Perhaps the UK could consider that the episcopal church in the US is a 'missionary church', so UK has a missionary couple working in the US. Let's say the episcopal church baptises 1000 people per year, and the UK couple need £10,000 annually. That is £10.00 per baptism. The implication, that an extra £10 would baptise an extra person, is a bit of a stretch. It ignores American indigenous initiatives, doesn't it? - Jim Harries
One could make that implication, but I think it would be an incorrect implication and I would hope people would be corrected if they made it. I think these kinds of statistics are more useful as general measures of cost-effectiveness or of responsiveness. Another, and perhaps better, measurement is number of conversions per worker. - Justin Long

Yet another in-depth case study of how the Obama campaign built an incredibly swarmish, decentralized political network that effectively won this campaign. More and more I think this was just as much about the way the campaigns worked (decentralized vs centralized) as it was about the ideology. This campaign needs to be investigated for its swarmish techniques as much for anything else. - Justin Long via Bookmarklet
