Re: Why I’m giving away WriteRoom for 6 days - http://blog.hogbaysoftware.com/post...
"I really appreciate you adding this to the bundle and I think it is a very smart way to market. I buy the bundles and I also get all the freebies. I would not have paid for most of the apps at their full price, but because of the bundle I try them. This is great for me because I discover new apps and its great for the developer because if I like the app I'll most likely pay for an upgrade, the iPhone version, or another app they make. Even if I have no use for the app or prefer a different app I'll often recommend it to a friend. These bundles are a win-win situation, hopefully more and more developers realize it." - Justin Luey

I have just irrevocably shamed myself by becoming mayor of Taco Bell on Foursquare. And so soon after the Twilight tweet... I need to go live in a hole for a while.
when you go into hiding, tell Kanye I said hi. - Long Vo
Wow... just wow. ;-) - Herb Hernandez
Taco Bell forever!! - Garmon Estes
It would have been one thing if you were mayor of Del Taco... - Thomas
red letter day - Jerry Perez
I wonder if anyone's the mayor of Sizzler... - Thomas
For as many times as I've gone to Taco Bell, I don't think I ever thought it was a good move afterwards. : 0 - Jerry Perez
I have gone to Taco Bell many times and thought it was a good movement afterwards. :0 - aldenoneil
*rimshot* - Thomas
gonna hurl : { } ============= - Jerry Perez
LOL instant sub. - DO ANYBODY NO MONIQUE
this whole thread is win. - DO ANYBODY NO MONIQUE
i believe it is - Jerry Perez
I like taco bell. it just doesn't fill you for very long. - Carlos Urrutia
I'll let this one go Veronica, but if I see you become mayor of Long John Silvers then I'm unfollowing you! :-) - Jim Bednarz
it could be worse. she could become the mayor of a 7/11 :) - Carlos Urrutia
Mmmm. Double beef burrito supreme... with spicy sauce... bluhhhhhhh.... - Dave Friedel
It must be the blackjack tacos Veronica couldn't resist. :P - imabonehead
why be ashamed? Taco bell won the fast food wars! - Fee501st
Having never been in a Taco Bell, my impressions of it were: the had a small dog as the mascot, they serve spicy food which presumably involves cheese... This, to me, said 'WIN'. I am not really getting that vibe from this thread however. :P - Amy
Amy, the funny part is they used to not be this bad (think McTaco and you have a rough idea of the quality today). There was a time when they actually used real meat and beans (cooked in a pressure cooker, blended with a massive stick blender and mixed with a *lot* of lard). Now though it's all dehydrated packages of flakes that turn into beans once you add water. Even the beef is like that. And it's spicy in the same way a cheese pizza is spicy. But it does involve cheese... :) - Thomas
Oh no Fee! Now you started a Demolition Man quotebomb! - Dave Friedel
"We're police officers! We're not trained to handle this kind of violence!" - Dave Friedel
"*snicker* He doesn't know how to use the three sea shells..." - Thomas
"Be well John Spartan" - Dave Friedel
they use meat! just not on everything :) - Carlos Urrutia
"I can knit a throw rug in my sleep..." - Thomas from FreshFeed
"Chief, you can take this job, and you can shovel it." - Dave Friedel
"Mellow greetings. What seems to be your boggle?" - Dave Friedel
Thomas: We don't have 'McTaco's :) I don't think I've ever eaten a taco in my life. And tbh the way you described flakes turning into beans when you add water...it sounds like they're using magic, I wouldn't mess with them. - Amy
Wow, you people remember a lot about Demolition Man! - Amy
As someone who works for a company that provides the "meat" for Taco Bell. Maybe we're all better for not eating the ground beef. The chicken and steak are more or less fine though. - Jerry Perez
fuck.... - Veronica
quickly! take a screenshot! Veronica cursed! :p - Carlos Urrutia
I work for a pretty big protein company. Amazing information. - Jerry Perez
lol, now I'm glad I've never eaten there... - Amy
Makes me really miss having a Del Taco nearby - not that they're probably any better meat-wise... - Thomas
I take it V that you had some sort of soft or crunchy taco with ground "beef". - Jerry Perez
It might have been a burrito of ground "beef" - Carlos Urrutia
Was it that taco that was crunchy, though...? - Thomas
Checked with some company sources. Feel free to enjoy Del Taco. - Jerry Perez
And there was much rejoicing... - Thomas
I think Veronica's off barfing :) - Amy
Now that I think about, I think that's the second time I've made Veronica curse. Geez, and here I thought I was a nice guy. - Jerry Perez
Jerry: If you say one bad word about my preferred brand of bacon, I swear I will hunt you down. ;) - Otto
yes, don't mess with bacon :) - Carlos Urrutia
Nobody disrespects bacon - Amy
Well...what's the brand? Do you even want to know? We have both amazing and awful!!! - Jerry Perez
it was 2 gorditas and one crunchy supreme taco. both beef :( - Veronica
OMG Veronica you have me rolling right now. YOU ARE HILARIOUS. ;) - Andru Edwards
Don't worry Veronica, if it hasn't killed you yet, then you can only become stronger now :) - Carlos Urrutia
I love Taco Bell. And I haven't had any since like May. Sad. - Araceli
Thats my combo! Any hot sauce? - Ferdinand Perez
I recommend you spend the extra 15 cents and upgrade to steak next time you go. : ) - Jerry Perez
I love the sauce pack quotes :) Once, I grabbed on of each sauce without looking closely and I ended up getting the same quote on all of them :) - Carlos Urrutia
FIRE SAUCE!! - Veronica
Very tasty. - Jerry Perez
I had one of those combo stores with a KFC/Taco bell inside close to my apartment in NYC, but now its a popeyes. I mean I like popeyes, but... :) - Ferdinand Perez
lol, dont put the blame on me! Unless Veronica liked it, then yea it was all my idea! :p - Fee501st
"Veronica Belmont you have been fined 1 credit for violation of the decency code..." - Dave Friedel
Well I'm off to Del Taco (and I'm not kidding). - Dave Friedel
Actually feeling like a burger myself. - Jerry Perez
Funny, you don't look like a burger. - Veronica
*rimshot* - Thomas
she be all all week folks, tip your waitress! - Fee501st
If I remember correctly, the beef is made out of a beef heart (used mostly as fish food) and oatmeal mixture. And remember, just because you go there, doesn't mean you have to 4square it, lol. Mcdonalds has "Mayor McCheese" what is the mayor of Taco Bell called? - echostreamer
Veronica - Jim Bednarz
nice one! - Fee501st
epic. also boo, Jerry, for ruining the meat for me. :( I was fine with my fantasies of it being real ground beef. LOL. - DO ANYBODY NO MONIQUE
Of course you can cancel that shame out by getting and watching the new Star Trek Bluray :) Oh, and a box of Tim Tam's to make up for Taco Hell food:) - Carlos Urrutia
Taco Bell is the best place to eat...if you're constipated. - imabonehead
Actually, we grade our beef with certain levels. We classify Taco Bell ground beef one level above dog food, which we also produce. Which would explain why my dog just absolutely loves Taco Bell. - Jerry Perez
Just been "Bazinga-ed" by Veronica : ) - Jerry Perez
I'd be proud to be mayor of Taco Bell - Justin Luey from FreshFeed
I'd be more proud that an innocuous thread about Taco Bell got 74 comments. I'll say it again. This wins. - DO ANYBODY NO MONIQUE
Go Mayor Veronica! (Nothing to be ashamed of) - j1m
This thread went from FourSquare to Taco Bell to Demolition Man to Veronica's thankfully short lived stand up career. Bravo everyone. - Dave Friedel
i'm sure we can get more stuff going if we try :) - Carlos Urrutia
Did you just say that V isn't funny Dave? - Jerry Perez
Hey, anybody catch Oprah yesterday? - aldenoneil
Hey Jerry Perez ,or Jerry "the Butcher" Perez - Isnt Taco Bell meat made of beef heart which is a popular fish food? Also Mayor of Taco Bell is a great title. "The Bell" Rulz! (six pack hard shell, a taco salad and 3 chicken supreme tacos soft shell.) - echostreamer

"Another great episode. I really enjoyed the Clerks talk. I relate to Clerks 2 more now, but I felt the same about the original Clerks when it came out. I'm the same age as the characters, so Clerks spoke to the 20 year old me and Clerks 2 to the 30 year old me." - Justin Luey

Re: My Thoughts on Brett Favre after the game in Green Bay - http://justinluey.com/blog...
"To be fair there was a lot of support and positive signs for Favre there but it should have been more. I can understand not doing it before the game, but afterwards there should have been a deafening standing ovation. I think many of the fans were sick with the realization they made a mistake letting him go." - Justin Luey

Re: East Meets West 180 – That gender isn’t bent - http://www.subbrilliant.com/emw...
"Roger and Randy both in their 30s were asking on the podcast if there were any TV shows or films that spoke to their life now, like Ferris Bueller (or similar films) did then. I'm also the same age and the first film that came to my mind was Clerks 2. If you are a geek and in your early to mid 30s I can almost guarantee you will connect to that film. Most people will enjoy it on some level, it's a very funny film but it works on another level for people of that age. Clerks 2 is the best example I can think of that captures this time in my life and pop culture." - Justin Luey

Re: Rogers Releases New iPhone Plan To Combat Telus/Bell - http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-...
"Looks like the competition is starting to pay off already. Like many of the other posters, I'm already getting a better deal than this. I pay between $95 and $100 a month total with 6 gigs data, 600 daytime minutes, my 5 canada wide, unlimited mms, and visual voicemail. The lesson of this post is don't pay the advertised price anywhere, negotiate yourself a better deal. Off topic, this blog is in desperate need of some CSS tweaking, the text of the posts and comments are too small." - Justin Luey

Re: CONFIRMED: Bell and Telus To Launch iPhone 3G/3GS In Canada! - http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-...
"2 year contracts would be way better. Don't miss my point, consumers and voters need to pressure the mobile carriers and the government to stop the monopolistic practices in Canada. My only point is contracts aren't always bad and can make sense. I'm no Rogers fan believe me, I begrudgingly signed with them to get my hands on an iPhone. I have been pleasantly surprised by their service but they have a long way to go." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
Re: CONFIRMED: Bell and Telus To Launch iPhone 3G/3GS In Canada! - http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-...
"I'm all for empowering the customer but signing a contract doesn't automatically make it a bad deal. In my case its a good deal. I've dealt with the other companies and they are far worse than Rogers. I guess there is a small risk for me that Bell or Telus suddenly become awesome companies but I don't see it happening." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
Re: CONFIRMED: Bell and Telus To Launch iPhone 3G/3GS In Canada! - http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-...

Justin Luey
Re: CONFIRMED: Bell and Telus To Launch iPhone 3G/3GS In Canada! - http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-...
"I would rather have the latest iPhone with a 6 gig data plan than fly anywhere. I respect your way of doing things but we're not fools because we spend our money differently than you. I didn't like contracts before the iPhone because the phones weren't worth it. Now I save $500 on the price off the phone in exchange for being locked into a service that I would never consider canceling anyway. It's a no brainer for me." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
Re: CONFIRMED: Bell and Telus To Launch iPhone 3G/3GS In Canada! - http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-...
"I'm surprised but it is good news. I wouldn't use Bell if you paid me but competition should help lower price. It will be interesting if Bell has iPhone only plans like Rogers did. Remember Rogers had reasonable unlimited data plans before the iPhone but then created special iPhone data plans. Even if you had an existing dara plan you couldn't switch it to an iPhone." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
Re: iPhone Exclusivity Ends in Canada Next Month - http://mashable.com/2009...
"I wouldn't get too excited yet. First, all these articles are speculation based on Bell now being able to support the iPhone, it doesn't mean they can do a deal with Apple or that Rogers doesn't have an exclusive like AT Second, Bell is terrible. Their customer service is by far the worst of any mobile company and their network stinks (maybe the new one will be better). The good thing is the competition might be downward pressure on the the pricing which is desperately needed in Canada. I have an iPhone on Rogers and I'm thrilled with every aspect of it except the price." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
Re: RUMOR: AT&T to Announce Google Voice for iPhone at CTIA - http://mashable.com/2009...
"Rogers and Fido in Canada don't have a policy against VOIP but none of the Apps currently work on 3G, if AT allows it than Skype will remove the restriction on the App and you will be able to use VOIP over 3G in Canada on Rogers or Fido." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
"Have you ever dealt with Bell? I have had nothing but trouble with them, and it wasn't an isolated incident, friends and family had the exact same experience. Be prepared to have major billing problems. The network service is terrible in Ontario but that may be taken care of with their new network. Right now, where I live you can get five bars with Rogers where you can't get one with Bell." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
"I still have my doubts. All these articles seem to be based on the fact that the new Bell network is capable of using the iPhone, it doesn't mean Rogers doesn't have an exclusive or that Bell can make a deal with Apple. I hope Bell does get the iPhone because competition is good, but I won't switch. Bell is a horrible company with the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Rogers prices are too high, but the customer service has been excellent and the network has been great except for a few months at the beginning of this summer." - Justin Luey

Re: Adobe Announces Flash Support for iPhone (But Only for Apps) - http://mashable.com/2009...
"I don't know if I buy that. Apple originally promoted web apps, and still does on Apple.com. They also make more money selling the phone than they do on the 30% commission on the apps. If mobile flash works on other phones, and web apps explode it will be in Apple's best interest to include it. I personally prefer most native apps over the web apps, so I only miss video right now. I think all of this will be moot because of html 5, quicktime works awesome on the iPhone." - Justin Luey
Justin Luey
Re: Adobe Announces Flash Support for iPhone (But Only for Apps) - http://mashable.com/2009...
"I know I'm going to sound like an Apple apologist but the Flash performance on my 2.0 gHz dual core Mac is suspect, so I can see why Apple is concerned about performance issues. Flash is buggy and a resource hog, and so far has been unusable on phones and portable devices. If Adobe makes a version that runs well on the iPhone and Apple still doesn't include it than we have a problem." - Justin Luey

If you use iTunes on Mac and aren't using Pollux you're missing a treat. http://polluxapp.com/ - free but I just donated. It's so good.

Addons like this, and programs like Coda, are the things pulling me toward buying an iMac. Just can't get myself to do it yet. - Andres
I don't get how you can get your iTunes library in such a state: http://polluxapp.com/Screens... Without using this app, my iTunes library has all the necessary metadata, and I didn't make any effort to have it like that. - Paul Grav
Anything similar on windows, on iTunes or foobar or winamp or anything? I'd like to see a program that has a "search for year info on Wikipedia" option. Actually, why isn't there an app where I can manually correct track info on my iPhone while I'm listening and have the corrections sync back? - Chuck Kahn
Paul, mainly by downloading music illegally from places like Kazaa (is that even around anymore?) and torrents. - Akiva Moskovitz from BuddyFeed
Thanks for the link leo! - Jan Persiel
It may be a coincidence, but I sent this link to my husband and when he tried to download the application he had to force quit Safari and it triggered all kinds of virus messages! He said he was not willing to try to duplicate the problem! - Ginger Campbell, MD
So, don't run this on compilation/greatest hits albums, unless you want the songs retagged to the original albums. - Demian Johnston
@Chuck Kahn - A cross platform (albeit more complex) tagger is Jaikox - http://www.jthink.net/jaikoz/ I've been using it on the Mac for about a year, much more complicated - and not free... but it works. - Christopher Aloi
It just gave me errors. F that. - Fnord
I liked it until it ended up misidentifying a great deal of songs, now I have to take the time to manually edit them back. Or just break out the CDs and rip them all over again. It can't tell the difference between tracks from a live album versus their studio recorded counterparts. It gets an E for effort. - Bryan K Erickson
It also gets in this state if you were managing music well before iTunes came to PC. - Eric @ CSTechcast.com from iPhone
When I used to do stuff in Windows, I used MP3Tag. - Akiva Moskovitz
Hooo-Rah! - Eric Anderson
This app worked perfect for me. Well done! - Mike Shulman
Gonna try it now ... [edit] Not bad, but made too many mistakes for me to unleash it on the rest of my library. - Timothy Griffin
I downloaded it and it did not do anything. - Kelly J
@Kelly J: You need to highlight some songs in iTunes and then click "Tag selected iTunes tracks". - 321
Very cool idea, but I have tried it on two albums and it got one song wrong both times. It also hasn't grabbed lyrics on any song I've tried so far, and that was main reason for trying it. All my stuff is tagged properly already. Any apps that just grab the lyrics? - Justin Luey
...well, it is 'beta' software, or has that label lost all meaning these days? - .LAG liked that
I think some of the data it uses is a bit suspect. One artist, two versions of the same song but different lengths, and they're classed as being from the same album. What's with the lyrics bit - where do they appear? - Mike Caine
