"Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the 40D (or older cameras for that matter...you're talking to a guy who's primary photographic medium is still film :-). For the limited amount of digital work I do these days, I won't replace it until it implodes. I know it's limits and how to produce the photos I need, the update cycle doesn't concern me. Fancy cutting edge gear doesn't make photos, photographers do."

"Ancient by today's standards Canon 40D with a 50/1.4 wide open. The smoothness of the bokeh in that shot is all due to the 50/1.4; at the distance to the scene and the wide open f/stop, the total depth of field is only ~2cm."

"I'm the fella that took the snap during product photography of the action figures, so I'll chime in. The figures were setup in a light tent with three hot lights and shot with a now ancient Canon 40D with a 50/1.4 wide open. While the photo that was uploaded here didn't go through post, it was purposely shot to test the feasibility of using the figures for stop motion (which is an edge case). The action figure setup, well, that's all BootstrapBukaroo. :-)"

"Indeed, we all have the G110 at the office (I sit behind the Mr. BootstrapBuckroo). Very nice keyboards, a little Lua + Autohotkey make them even more awesome."
