I think I'm falling for this guy a little. [Well, did he like the Deer Hunter or not?] - Donna Mugavero
Don't worry, Rahm, I'm eating at Arby's! - RefD
The most important facts you need to know about Rahm Emanuel: 1. he is a pro-Israel militant and AIPAC op 2. he was a key ringleader of the Iraq War in the Democratic Party 3. he seems to be interested in starting a war with Iran 4. he attacked Bush from the right for being too soft on terrorism 5. he embodies the opposite of everything Obama claimed to represent in the way of progressive change. If you loved the Iraq War, and thought it was good for America, you will love Rahm Emanuel. - Sean McBride
Sean, do you have a reference for that please? - Jeanine Walters via fftogo
Jeanine -- See Stephen Zunes' article in the Huffington Post today on this topic -- read the fine print carefully -- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/... There are hundreds of other articles on this topic -- try Googling [rahm emanuel israel OR aipac OR iraq OR iran]. This is an appalling appointment. One or two more similar appointments, and Obama's base will turn on him with force. - Sean McBride

“The Windows Start Menu is the stupidest menu ever. How can a static menu be so effin slow?!”
November 9 at 5:44 pm - via Ping.fm - Link
Have you tried Launchy ? http://www.launchy.net ? I don't use the start menu now - Mo Kargas
Mo, Use Launchy too. But it's sluggish too for some reason. - Kamath ॐ
After being a huge Launchy fan for a while (check my blog), I just switched to Find And Run Robot to see if it works faster. Problem here is, I have no idea what the name of what I want is...LOL - ♫ Rahsheen™
Launchy does the automatic indexing thing. I think this was causing my entire computer to run slow at times. The HD is still the weakest link as far as speed goes. FARR seems to be working better for me, but only time will tell. - ♫ Rahsheen™
I'll have to give the FInd and Run Robot a go then. Interesting. - Kamath ॐ
Same guy that made Find and Run Robot also made another app for more visual people called Launchbar Commander. - April Russo
I love Launchy so I'll have to try out this Find And Run Robot too - David Adam
It's fantastic in Vista. - Akiva Moskovitz
I pretty much use the same programs everyday. And I use RocketDock to access them. I tried Enso as well. But I couldn't get used to it. - jbrotherlove
RocketDock and Object Dock do the trick - Amber aka SDA
I don't know what my deal is, but visual launchers make me forget what I wanted...LOL. I prefer key-combos or typing stuff, although....this launchbar might work well in cooperation with FARR. Good idea! Glad I thought of it. Thanks :) - ♫ Rahsheen™
Yeah, I use RocketDock too but I want to involve my mouse as little as I can when I am coding. - Kamath ॐ
This is my alternative to the start menu (warning: it scares most people) http://appsapps.info/stuff/2ta... - April Russo
That picture hurt my eyes...LOL. - ♫ Rahsheen™
OMG April! I'm going to have nightmares now! - Jeanine Walters
Enso is run by key-combos (which may be why it didn't stick for me) http://www.humanized.com/enso/ - jbrotherlove
I liked Enso a lot but I don't think that it's being updated anymore. The developer, as far as I know, is focused entirely on Ubiquity these days. - Akiva Moskovitz
Hrm, enso looks cute. I'll have to play with it later. I don't think it was free when I looked at it back in the day. Is now, though. - ♫ Rahsheen™
The one big redeeming feature of Vista is the search field in the start menu. Hit the Windows key, start typing a program name, hit enter. Fantastic. - Phil Glockner
Launchy's latest beta has eliminated most of the slowness that Launchy 2.0 had. I dunno when it gets released as final, tho. - Mattie Kenny
Other thing I like about FARR is the flexibility in creating extensions, but I probably don't have time for all that. I'm still kinda on the fence. - ♫ Rahsheen™
You might want to browse here for FARR goodies: http://www.donationcoder.com/F... - April Russo
Yeah, still trying to wade through that. - ♫ Rahsheen™
Launchy rules! Although I still wish something like Quicksilver/Gnomedo existed for Windows - Tim Hoeck
Never used either of those, so I'm not sure what the diff is. I also haven't seen any screencasts of any of this stuff. That would be nice to see. - ♫ Rahsheen™
+1 to Phil up above. Love hitting one key, typing, and hitting enter. - Jordan Hofker
Jordan - If course, on the Mac, it's Option-Space, type name, enter. Lots of people don't know this useful little shortcut in OSX 10.5 (in 10.4 you have to hit option-enter to run the first result) - Phil Glockner
Well sure, but that's not *one* key! :-) I'm guessing Rahsheen is using XP, though. - Jordan Hofker
I'm more into ActiveWords - MiɳiMagɘ (Sexy Scimitar)
On XP I use Launchy. I tried Objectdock but it seemed to slow the system and cause Firefox to hang more often. Since migrating to Vista I w/ Phil. I hit start and type what I want. - tsudohnimh
Yah, XP. Don't think Vista would let me hit start and type "ping @m random microblog stuff", though :) - ♫ Rahsheen™

got spoons? -- the spoon theory of chronic pain
November 8 at 7:56 pm - Link
The PDF this links to is wonderful - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
The pdf is definitely worth reading. I think this is the first time I actually understand what it means for my mom to have chronic pain. - Lindsey
Yeah - is my oops; I'd meant to get the link directly to the PDF. It really is something, and it describes the kinds of choices and thinking I have to go through every day. If I say no to going out to eat with you, it's not that I don't want your company; it's more likely that I have a doctor's appointment the next day that I need to save a couple extra spoons for. - Ladybug Heather
I always understood that she had to think about things but not quite to this extent. My mom is tough and she has a way of making "spoons" appear but I'm sure she's just borrowing years in advance - Lindsey
people who don't suffer from chronic pain have no idea whatsoever how debilitating and life altering **real** non-stop 24hr pain is. - Steven Hodson
My wife thanks you for the link. You've given her a great tool for explaining chronic pain. Even her best friend sometimes struggles to understand. - Kevin Johnson
You and your wife are certainly welcome, Kevin - that site has some great resources, good chat forums and some cute humor for when you're feeling down about the pain. Sometimes you just need the understanding nods from someone else who has had to count spoons before. - Ladybug Heather
